Well to be fair he finally saw what a guy like Erne brings to the table.
One of the things to point out is that a brand new coach is still susceptible to what the org advice is on players, until such time that they develop their own. I doubt KK was even watching the Oilers before he got tapped to be headcoach. Its a trial by fire trying to get up on the players and what they are about. He must be wondering where this Connor Mcdavid kid is. ;)

KK didn't come in like Woodcroft being a comfortable 5 games over .500. Came into a situation where the team was 6 games UNDER .500 and desperately needing wins.

I thought all four lines were playing pretty well last game.
Indeed. What gets lost in the laundry is the Oilers were all over Tampa in the first, were the better club in the 2nd, and then Tamps pumped 4 goals by Skinner in the third.

The Oilers outplayed, outshot, outhustled Tampa through much of the game, and lost due to the weakest spot on the club.

Look at that allstar push across from Skinner on the 3-3 goal. Goaltending like that, its hard to win.

The oilers are the definition of insane.

I do the same kind of move when I jump in the pool, looked like a belly flop to me.

Its kind of funny that Pickard gets the tough start. Could have played him against hapless SJ or Seattle or Islanders any of those games. But no, lets play him against an opponent that pressures and scores goals for fun.

Sorry to hear. Our dog we found out was full of cancer and in discomfort so we had to do the same two weeks ago. Hasn’t been the same around the old homestead and our cat is lonely too.

Let’s hope the Oilers reel off a win for you (or Holland gets fired!)
Sorry @5 Mins 4 Ftg and @KeithIsActuallyBad to hear of your losses. Pets are not just part of the family, they are family. I too have lived that loss a few times in my life, it’s never easy. I currently have an 18 month rescue I got from the Ardrossan area last November, she is absolutely adorable. I cant imagine life without her. In time you will hopefully be able to open your home and heart to a new family member, if you desire. Take care.

Sheltering Skinner has been going on for 2 years now. Not saying that as a diss, but this isn’t the first questionable goalie move regarding Skinner‘s peer in net. I’m ok with sheltering him in a measured manner, it's part of how you develop players but when it’s selective with one goalie and not with the other it just becomes another head scratcher goalie decision from the offices of Schwartz and Company.

I've watched that replay several times and I find it really hard to fault Skinner (I'm pretty critical of goalies). It almost seems like his skate caught a rut which acted like a brake and halted his pushoff. For a split second, it looks like he almost stumbles. By the time he could recover, it was too late.

I just don't see the point. Deficits are easy to spot in Skinners game and are the types of things that don't improve. Puck handling issues, mobility issues, anticipation and reads.

But perhaps the biggest thing is a goalie that lets in series of goals and has a basic Aw shucks approach. The 3-3 goal is hilarious. Even the beauty goal Tampa scores, yeah, I realize Skinner isn't getting to that but his slide looks like he's riding a fun inflatable on the lake. Must watch...Tampa like laughing at the bench "you see that push across"

Watch him on the Kucherov goal. its worse push across. Its comical its so bad. Like he didn't even try to get across.

I don't think he stumbled, I think he's not anticipating plays that the whole rink knows are on. Watch the game winning goal and notice Skinner didn't read the shot pass. If he did he wouldn't be so deep in cage.

Holland still there. Check
Schwartz still there. Check.
Bob still there. Check
Interest waning even more. Check
Distraction from life. Still some mild entertainment. Half marks.

I'm fantasizing about a world where Pickard somehow figures it out and becomes some crazy Tim Thomas or Jordan Binnington type story

..... I need help
The good news is that even a Pheonix Copley level goalie saved the Kings season and was better than a Peterson.

The Oilers even with average goaltending would have a far far better record than they do.

He looked slow as molasses reacting to the pass. I know its easier said than done when viewed in replay but he literally doesn't turn his head until the pass already connected. It's been a complaint by many regarding Skinner - his inability to effectively track and follow the play.

I'm having a hard time being excited for my "Friday" to be ruined by another piss effort by this team. Yet I will be tuned in come 4pm pst
