Islands in the stream.
I had a dream Skinner let in a dump from the blueline. Oh wait that happened.

Still lol at KK's reaction to that. If anything the orgs decision to go longterm with Skinner as starter is getting some serious rethink. Long time coming. If this org is serious about anything they have to get a goalie.

Speaking of dreams, I had a pretty wicked one. I was a guy who could go invisible and had a katana that was made of light. Used it to power my way through a run down bombed out city. Got into some sort of warehouse where I found a room full of video games and a nice tv to play on. Decided to use it as my base. Then, for some reason, a group of kids and teachers showed up and decided to use it as their base and I didn't get to play video games. Suddenly, I was outside trying to fight off zombies, but because it was a dream and despite me having a cool samurai sword, they got in and destroyed the base. Then I woke up.

There is an awful lot of weird dream sequences being reported in this thread. Either the use of hallucinogenics is becoming seriously rampant or you peeps need to stop eating a whole pizza before you go to bed. And I thought I had issues yesterday from my cold and flu meds.

So Holland went with former mediocre Red Wing in Erne. Who wasn’t even good there. Then he goes for former mediocre Red Wing Cal Pickard too? Like does this not seem lazy to anyone?

Surprised he hasn’t called Stevie Y to trade 2 more 2nds for whatever 3rd string goalie he has over there.

I just don't see the point. Deficits are easy to spot in Skinners game and are the types of things that don't improve. Puck handling issues, mobility issues, anticipation and reads.

But perhaps the biggest thing is a goalie that lets in series of goals and has a basic Aw shucks approach. The 3-3 goal is hilarious. Even the beauty goal Tampa scores, yeah, I realize Skinner isn't getting to that but his slide looks like he's riding a fun inflatable on the lake. Must watch...Tampa like laughing at the bench "you see that push across"

Watch him on the Kucherov goal. its worse push across. Its comical its so bad. Like he didn't even try to get across.

I don't think he stumbled, I think he's not anticipating plays that the whole rink knows are on. Watch the game winning goal and notice Skinner didn't read the shot pass. If he did he wouldn't be so deep in cage.
He didn't all out stumble but it just looked like his push was stopped abruptly and his one leg looked odd but maybe that was because he had try and recover. That said maybe he didn't even Jeannot coming down the wing because his head was looking at the slot when it was going cross-ice and he had a clear line of sight. I'll have to check the Kucherov goal. I missed the first 2 periods.
He looked slow as molasses reacting to the pass. I know its easier said than done when viewed in replay but he literally doesn't turn his head until the pass already connected. It's been a complaint by many regarding Skinner - his inability to effectively track and follow the play.
As I said to Drive above, it definitely could have been poor puck tracking too on that third goal. It just appears his push off was unexpectedly stopped but maybe that was because of poor anticipation and trying to recover. If his luck tracking sucks, then he needs to work with the guy who fixed Dubnyk's game. He credited puck tracking to his big resurgence if I remember correctly.

Sweet, we are going back to the garbage 11-7

The 11-7 thing seems so bizarre to me. Just listening to KK in his pressers, it didnt sound like he was a fan of 11-7. Once again I ask, who actually makes decisions for this team? Always seems like theres someone above the coach making decisions. Its been like this for some time. And Holland for all of his faults, doesnt strike me as the type to interfere with how a coach, coaches.

Looking at Saturday's result it still hard to accept they blew a game with 3 goals from 4th liners and having 5 powerplays. We finally witness a decent 3 game run by Skinner, only to witness another statistical "Really Bad Start" (less than 85% save percentage).

After a decent start to his career Skinner has now 9 "Really Bad Starts" in his last 37 starts. Averaging 1 every 4 games is just not good enough regardless of the team in front of him. 1 every 3 games this year even. Couple that with the 4 "Really Bad Starts" in playoffs he's up to 13 of his last 49 starts being less than 85%.

All we need is pickard to be average. He doesn’t even have to be good.

Just average

So in other words, can he at least put up Pheonix Copley from last year numbers (ie. .903 save percentage).

With even a .903 save percentage this year, the Oilers would have 14 less goals against. You'd think that translates into a minimum of 3 or 4 more wins guaranteed, possibly as many as 7.

IIRC Burke fixed Dubnyk.
He now works for Vegas. Just our luck

Maybe desperation kicked in. Team without answers and just praying McDrai magic again 🤷‍♂️

Honestly this is the biggest difference between this year and last year.

The Oilers PP outscored their mistakes last year.

They had garbage defense/goaltending to start the year, last year as well.

Well looks like people who were banking on that kind of PP production every year are getting a reality check.

You can't outscore mistakes every year, there needs to be some other dimension to your team.

This is true and its exactly why the team needs to do the one thing it can do without having to deal with the cap restraints.
Stop cheating for offence...back check like it means something.
Stop leaving the middle of the ice open.

Doing those things only involves sweat equity.
Its completely doable....right now.

So far this season (with few exceptions) this team has been AHL caliber in their commitment to clean up the above items.

I dont know about anyone else but I would sure like to see what this team could accomplish by being harder to play against.

last time Pickard made an NHL appearance his team lost 11-2 and he had a .692 SV%.
