The Gary Bomb!
Not enough love for Gary! He was undrafted, made his way into the league with Florida, broke out as a top 4 guy and then immediately bailed to come home and play with us. Unfortunately was just late on our window and got f***ed by new management and shipped out. He was our 5th highest scorer in 2013-14. He showed up for fan events in the summer even after he was traded.

Guy got dealt a bad hand, hope hes still rich now

make your 5 boldest predictions for this season.

1.petey scores 40 hits 90-100 pts. bounceback player of the season.
2.horvat gets traded
3.hughes reaches 85 pts.
4. four players score 30 goals or more. kuzmenko/Jt/petey/boeser
5.make playoffs with 95 pts.

1. Lazar turns out to be somewhat useless, capable of playing some 4th line minutes but not great on the PK and not enough offensive creativity to move up the lineup when injuries arise

2. Miller gets traded for a RHD

3. Demko wins the Vezina

4. Podkolzin/Hoglander both hit 50 points

5. Canucks win the division

I think the first Canucks’ goal of the season is going to be scored by Conor Garland.

Hopefully it’s tonight and hopefully we win - get this season started off on the right foot.

Let’s f***ing go, boys and girls, it’s been too long!

We're going off tonight

To kick out every light

Take anything we want

Drink everything in sight

We're going till the world stops turning

While we burn it to the ground tonight

Yeah....no to this goal song.

We did burn the city to the ground in 2011.

I need a pun for my hockey pool, preferably focusing on Kuzmenko's name.

I'm presently running with "Lazar Defense System", but I, of course, don't have Lazar on my roster.

Anyone better at this then I am?

Pettersson with the first goal.

It can only by him.

Eddy Punch Clock was, but Eddy has left the building.

With the addition of Holloway, that top 6 is even scarier.

It's going to brutalise our swiss cheese defense. The biggest difference between the two teams is, imo, Demko. I think the Canucks are in the same stratosphere as the Coilers because of Demko. Hopefully he steals the show tonight.

It better be high scoring. Canucks have to hope for 6 or 7 PP's.

Can you see McD against Hughes, Stillman, Rathbone and Poolman all night, Draisatl or RNH.

Will Demko last the game? If they put 5 in the net by the 2nd will Bruce pull him? Will he ever get pulled?

Forwards will have to forecheck and backcheck like mad to keep the puck away from those guys.

Edmonton's weakness is defence compared to their forwards.
Unfortunately Vancouver is even weaker especially without the shut down giraffe in the back end.

Miller, Petey and Horvat killing penalties? What about shot blocking, will they be doing that too? How many broken feet has Vancouver had over the years, 8, 9?

It should be a spirited affair in the first couple of periods with everyone healthy.

First game of a tough road trip.

The preseason didn't really change anything, the management and fans are still seeing last season's last half.

Ordinarily the first few games are just the start of the season but this season after the new regime doubled down, the start will carry even more weight than the last 4 years. The new group's reputation starts today.

I am a loyal fan of the Canucks but not a fanatic, I would not bet on them to win this game. And looking good losing is getting old.

Both teams want a great start, one was a conference finalist the other a perineal wannabe.

Edmonton gets last change, that dooms the Canucks, they will never be able to start the 2nd or 3rd defensive pairings

Five bold predictions?

Demko gets injured and misses 25 games

Horvat gets traded and Petey isn't resigned during the season

Canucks trade Miller AND draft picks to move the contract.

Canucks are 4 points out at US thanks giving, close enough to continue hope

Hughes gets 70 points but is a minus 23 and is injured during the season.

Edmonton 7 Canucks 3

The Oilers have one of the most intimidating offensive groups in the league and a powerplay that is second to none. But the D is below average and the goaltending is about average. The Canucks' forwards will need to help out defensively as our defense is even worse than the Oilers. This is the type of game where Mikheyev would have been valuable in a defensive and penalty killing role.
Going to need a strong game from Demko and and going to have to stay out of the box if want a chance to win. At even strength I think we can compete.
