Maybe. I could see the Ducks management being pissed about their season last year.

they operate on an internal budget and will not be a cap team. So there was no room to re-sign Anderson and their other RFA's.

The Ducks are deep in prospects, especially on the back end. So they will be good for a long while yet despite their internal budget

Anderson is in TO signed 5M for 5 years.

There are rumors floating around the trade boards they're looking for a high end LW. Shaking things up a little after last year isn't a crazy thought.

edit: Would the Ducks new head coach be interested in Lucic?

Hey guys i was thinking of maybe making a bet on the norris so I wanted your opinion. Have you guys heard any whispers or anything on droughty's chances for the norris? Regardless of who was actually better Karlsson had 82 points so voters would look at that right away I would guess.

Doughty would score 82 points in Ottawa. Karlsson wouldn't score 50 points in LA. Doughty is the better overall player, by a decent margin.
But you got it, the voters will mainly only see the 82 points. Sad.

nope they do not. They have NTC not NMC...only NMC require protection

edit: Actually gaborik doesn't even have a NTC

If that is the case it all comes down to Lucic...

Kopitar, Carter, Pearson, Toffoli plus Doughty, Muzzin, Martinez and McNabb as the 8 skaters.

If Lucic re-signs then the Kings will likely take the second scenario of 7 forwards and 3 D but risk losing McNabb.

Nope. They both seem to be using the same number, maybe one has overage penalties that we don't yet know about? :help:

EDIT: I see where they are different one has $22,117,500 for defense and the other has $20,992,500 (cap friendly seems to have the correct math, maybe general fanager assumes bonuses or something)

That's a difference of $1,125,000. Could be that Scuderi's cap hit is added twice.

If McNabb is theoretically the 4th defenseman, I can't see a scenario where they only protect 8 skaters, unless he takes a huge step forward next season, like Muzzin in 2014.

Better off 7-3-1 if he is the same player he was this year.

Cap is 73 million. Yay!

Source?

Edit: Can we make fun of the people that got taken for a ride by "economists" trying to get clicks by saying aliens "MAY" cause the cap to go down.

Edit: Edit: Should have signed Lucic when we all thought the cap was going down. Now he'll cost more.

Honestly I bet the cap being set affects a lot of moves. Wouldn't be surprised to see the trigger pulled on a bunch of signings in the next 24 hours, including Lucic.

Not really a surprise, but now the cap is set, you're probably right about lots of signings. Now ARZ only has 33 mill in cap space left.

Considering for the first time if the escalator hadn't been used the cap would have gone down.
Had they used 2.5% it would have been flat.

So the falling Loonie caused much pain for this year and the cap.

And still the cap went up. It's pointless to waste time calculating all sorts of obscure things when something else will have a larger impact. Sometimes it's easier to look at a problem from a distance, figure out what the major issues effecting it are, which will have the largest effect, and flat out ignore the stuff that will have a minimal effect. If one variable raises a number by 100 there's no point in worrying about a variable that will raise or lower that number by 1.

If the 2.5% was used the cap would be flat, but then you have people voting on it. So this becomes even less about calculating the effect of the Canadian Dollar and more about guessing how those people are going to vote. So any economist has about as good a chance as anyone to guess how that vote will turn out. The numbers never mattered. This is why I never bothered to look them up.

Edit: I'd also like to add that the escalator is meant for this exact scenario. Cap maybe stagnant or decrease slightly. It gives the players the ability to bet on future earnings going up and not force teams to make drastic cuts. This is why it exists.

Betting on humans to use something the way it's meant to be used, may be risky though. :)

Islanders are pretty set on Defense but i wonder if they would listen to or if any of you would like the offer but how about

Martinez for Ryan Pulock Straight up ? Play Pulock in the top 4. We are loaded on leftys , Pulock might not be proven but he sure looks like he has the potential and should develop.
