If my math is correct and with Scuderi buried, the Kings have a bit over $8.5M in cap space now. If they trade Dwight King, they'll have slightly over $10.5M in cap space, and if Clifford is also moved, they'll have over $12M in cap space.

Let's assume Mersch and Auger make the team to replace those two, that puts the Kings at roughly $10.7M with 12 forwards, 6 defensemen and 1 goalie currently on the roster.

That gives them some flexibility should they choose to re-sign Lucic or to go after another top 3-4 dman and to add a backup netminder.

Also, keep in mind that Dowd isn't signed, and in all likelihood he will fill a spot cheaply, say $700K.

I wouldn't be opposed to bringing Ben Scrivens back for $1.5 million or cheaper.

Greene needs to go. I'd be fine with him if there was cap space, and will miss watching him smash guys, but he can't stay healthy. 2.5M is too much for him.

The cap isn't overly tight next year, but it doesn't look like the Kings will be able to fill the 3C, D, and Lucic. If they can't fill those spots moving older guys out and getting younger is the logical play. Lucic doesn't necessarily fit that. 2 days left before we find out which direction Lombardi will go.

Agree on the back up. No reason to go over 1M.

Edit: Stamkos: He seems like a quite guy that might enjoy living in a non traditional hockey market. I'm hoping the circus that's about to get underway in TO/Buff/NYR/DET gets to the point where it scares him out here to the West Coast.

Islanders are pretty set on Defense but i wonder if they would listen to or if any of you would like the offer but how about

Martinez for Ryan Pulock Straight up ? Play Pulock in the top 4. We are loaded on leftys , Pulock might not be proven but he sure looks like he has the potential and should develop.

Same thing with Minnesota and Dumba. Wonder if a straight up swap with AMart would even be enough.

After hearing Rutherford talk about the benefits of bringing rookies up together, I'd love to see LA trim some fat this offseason. If a change needs to made and money saved, rebuild the bottom six.

Send Nolan, Clifford, King packing. Heck, even Shore.

As much as Lewis can't score. I'd take him back at a discounted rate but only that way.

Supposedly Damon Severson may be on the move from New Jersey. He's a 21 year old, right handed dman who has decent size at 6'2", 205 lbs, though he did have his struggles in his sophomore season.

I think the only reason the Kings are considering re-signing Lucic is because they are going to leave Gaborik and Brown exposed in the Expansion draft.

If the Kings end up signing Lucic, as I have said all summer, and agree with you here, Clifford and King are goners.

Andreoff can replace Clifford as a 4th line LW and is half the price. King can be replaced by Mersch, but honestly, neither are a good fit on the 3rd line opposite Shore/Brown. I would move Brown up to the 1st or 2nd line and shift either Gaborik down to play with King/Mersch-Shore so there is some speed on that 3rd line.

We do not want anything to do with him as he is a turnover machine. I watch a lot of Wild hockey because of their backup goalie Kuemper and Dumba is a major red flag with his defence. No hockey IQ. Makes Muzzins rookie year look way better.

Curious what you guys think Lucic will get if he's signed.

I'm hoping for anything under 5 years, 6M AAV.

Realistically it will probably be 5-6 years, 6.2 - 6.5 AAV.

I don't think he will get more than $6M if it is more than 4 years..I can see $6M but not more

I'd only go $6M with Lucic if it's a shorter term deal, which he probably isn't looking at.

If he wants 5 years, then I'd go up to $5.5M. For 4 years, $5.75M. For 3 years, $6M.

For 5 years he'll earn $27.5M. For 4 years he'll earn $23M. For 3 years he'll earn $18M.

Given that he is 28, it is likely that he could sign another contract before he decides to retire should he choose to go 3, 4 or 5 years.

I think a bigger priority will be getting Toffoli signed long term, and they can start negotiations with him this summer.

Hopefully.

This will be DLs first incident since the change in heart about the team (so to speak). No doubt if we won the cup this year he'd have given Lucic whatever he wanted.

Curious how the "new" DL handles this offseason.

I hope Kings go short term bigger money or just a little longer for a little less.

In about 5 years Kings will be stuck with 36 year old Dustin Brown, 36 year old Jeff Carter, 35 year old Quick, and a 39 year old Gaborik ALL under contract.

That's not including 33 year old's Kopitar and Martinez.

I think Gaborik will be gone. Either via expansion, trade, retirement or LTIR

And not that one year matters at that point but gaborik will be 38 the last year on his deal
