Now we can officially say that it was a stupid trade and waste of assets, just like the Sekera trade.

I hope Dean stops acquiring pending UFAs from now on, at least those who cost 1st rounders.

I hope Kings go short term bigger money or just a little longer for a little less.

In about 5 years Kings will be stuck with 36 year old Dustin Brown, 36 year old Jeff Carter, 35 year old Quick, and a 39 year old Gaborik ALL under contract.

That's not including 33 year old's Kopitar and Martinez.

5 years is 35 in the real world. Half those guys could retire, be injured, or be long traded if not all of them.

Trade Looch's rights NOW!

Try to sign Ladd. I know he did **** all for Chicago but he'd be a good fit here.

I have no doubt LA is going to be playoff team, and as such I want more of a playoff performer than Ladd.

I thought he was a playoff guy but someone posted is PPG in the playoffs and it is more in line with Dwight King that a top liner.

So many variables. Brown's contract, Gaborik's contract, Toffoli and Pearson needing new contracts in the future. Kopitar's contract bumped up by $3m+. Could use a defenseman.

Oh well. Pluses and minuses from his time as King. Good passer, but he didn't shoot enough. The turnover issue in his own zone. Of course the worst case scenario with giving up some young assets for 1 playoff win and 0 goals from Lucic. Sometimes you swing and miss. That's life.

A decent amount of money to get some more depth at least.

nope still worth the shot. Sucks LA got beat in round 1, but at the time of the trade Lucic was the missing piece to put LA over the top.

I liked the Sekera trade too though. Obviously did not like the results but thought it was the correct risk to take

1 playoff win since 2014. Zero first round picks since 2014.

That is terrible asset management. You could've seen the same results with zero changes.

Unless Dean magically signs some good players to 1 year deals, the Kings will be in the exact same cap situation next year as they would have been in if they signed Lucic. My guess is he signs Lewis now for $3 millionish and signs another free agent for $3 million. Both on multiple year deals leaving the same cap space next season as Lucic would've left. I highly doubt the Kings go into next season with more than $1 million in cap space.

You should be able to get a 4th and a conditional similar to Yandle.

It's certainly better than nothing.

Except there's only about 57 hours until free agents can start talking to teams. This close to free agency, Lucic will probably just test what's out there.

Dean didn't get the Kings two cups by sitting on his hands. He had to try and improve the team and he did, but we won't always get the desired results.

Damned if you do, damned if you don't.

Is that what he's asking for?

That's what all the top 6 forwards are asking for. Ladd will probably be nearly the same. Same with Okposo. Going to have to move a tier down and hope someone doesn't offer McGinn something outrageous.

He should be smarter in knowing the team he has and stop pretending this was the same team as those in 2012 and 2014.

It was obvious this team was missing more than just a single piece in 2015 and 2016. Dean's decision making the last few years has to be questioned because his mindset is still stuck in thinking this is still a Cup contending team. In reality they are simply a playoff team, a playoff team with one playoff win in the last two years.

He even admitted it in that interview last week. Said he saw the team was flawed in September. Makes him look even worse.

exactly you cannot steal 2nd while standing on 1st.

If dean did not make the moves he has the Kings would be the blues. A really good team but not good enough

hard to say with 2015 due to Sekera being injured and missing more games than playing.

Im not upset about Looch walking

Same. Its Lombardi acknowledging how awful our defense is. I fully expect him to address the D now that Lucic is walking. I'm slightly relieved, he impressed in the regular season and **** the bed in the playoffs (like most of the team). I'm glad we don't have to shell out big bucks and long term for LWer that's already peaked. Plus, we were still a playoff team without him.
