With Lucic walking does that mean Schenn is more likely to be kept?

I certainly hope not. He'd be redundant and the only reasons he might stay is that he's RHD and Greene may be toast, he'd likely be diiiirt cheap, and management may think he's a reclamation project.

I hope Severson is the guy, if there is a way to get him without TP or TT going back. He is exactly what we need, $600k cap hit is a bonus.

Severson rumored to be on the move and with the Folin rumor it's clear what DL is shooting for.

True that. He is a very underrated player. Probably cost less than Lucic but not by much.

Plekanec is rumored available too. His hit is reasonable.

It's all hypothetical tho. Doubt LA is targeting a center. I just feel like the lines slot in better with a legit 3rd line pivot.

Hoping to be surprised in a good way with a d acquisition but looks like LA won't be all that different on the back end. Find myself hoping Greene is miraculously back to his 2012 self.

Frans Neilsen is an underrated stud. If we landed him, I would be in utter shock. PERFECT 3C, plays Kings hockey, and is a shootout ace for those rare times we don't win 3v3 ;)

I have to think he's too expensive.

Well if we're looking at scraps on the backend with names like Folin, Severson, and Pysyk, there may be room for someone like Nielson. I'd rather have a good 3C than Okposo.

Much rather have Neilsen than Okposo. Wonder if he wants to stay on the East coast?

Doesn't Okposo have some ties with Lewis? Think Lewis would take a discount to stay in LA?

So... given DL is looking at a fix for the 2nd pair that's a year or 2 out... and the Kings will be developing other guys as well during that time, does that open up Martinez for a trade?

?????/Doughty
Muzzin/****

Don't see Martinez with Doughty, that could be McNabb/Forbort/Gravel, Pair new guy with Muzzin, that leaves Martinez on the 3rd pair or traded.

I don't feel like you touch Martinez. Nice cap and is a key cog on defense. I don't think any of there d prospect will be as good as him. Maybe reevaluate in a couple of years.

Severson, Folin, Pysyk all have one thing in common, right shot. Would think they have no intention of moving Muzzin/Martinez, unless they could somehow upgrade.

Moving Martinez would hurt, but if the Kings are running Gravel/McNabb + a guy that needs time to grow into a top 4, Martinez isn't needed for that.

Sutter might quit.

Are you suggesting he's Stoll from 2009/2010?

Better offensively than Stoll was for most of his careeer (minus Stoll's high peak), better skater than Stoll after all his injuries, probably not as stout strictly defensively but does have a great IQ...for a team that's looking for more from their bottom six in terms of production, he's a monstrous upgrade.

I think people forget how damn good Jarret SToll was and how unfortunately quickly he fell off after all the beatings

You know, for what would be obvious ON PAPER, I was shocked we didn't see more of Muzzin/Doughty - McNabb/Martinez. I know there are certainly issues with that 2nd pairing, but they only played 40 min together all season, would be nice to see if they could do something, but then I guess neither guy is a 'driver' like Muzzin.

If LA trades Gravel and then turns around to acquire Folin I'll be pissed. Forbort I could care less about.

I don't see a significant upgrade out there. Trim some fat and let the rookies play. It is the way of the cap world in the NHL.

The only UFA I'd actually like is Frans Neilsen. All the talk about dmen, 3rd line center is also glaring weakness.

Dowd showed more panache than Shore. Amadio is a couple seasons away. If you can't significantly upgrade d, at least get some help up front.

Gabby Kopitar Kempe
Pearson Carter Toffoli
Mersch Neilsen Brown
Clifford Dowd Andreoff
Nolan

Trade King and Shore for picks. Let Lewis walk.

I'd be pissed to lose either Forbort to Gravel since both played extremely well together on the farm and both have the size, speed and defensive awareness we need in our core....

Michael Amadio IMO isn't years away more like if he takes another similar to this season he'll be ready by midseason next year..... and he isn't small at 6-2, 190 so he'd fit right in on the 3rd line...

Severson and Folin both have 1 year left on their contract and are RFA, both need to be protected in the expansion draft.

-Lombardi is targeting young D that may shake lose due to the expansion.

-Depending on how the forward situation shakes out can the Kings protect 4D? Right now it's Kopitar/Carter/Pearson/Toffoli. Protecting 4D would limit what the Kings could bring in at forward.

Isn't Kopitar exempt from the expansion draft do to his NMC????

Isn't Kopitar exempt from the expansion draft do to his NMC????

I think the wording on that was bad. From the players perspective having a NMC makes you exempt from the expansion draft. Teams still have to protect players with a NMC. I believe the two exceptions are the player agrees to waive it or the contract is expiring that year.

Perhaps, but is it worth it to protect Gaborik and Brown? It all comes down to a Cost Benefit Analysis. Just how valuable are those rare RHD? Are they so valuable that you'd risk losing a good forward just to protect 2 RHD as well as 2 LHD? This decision is Dean's.... and I can see the method to his madness.....!!!

OK guys maybe no the right thread to ask this question but here goes.....
How good are Adrian Kempe and Michael Amadio and what could be their roles and ultimate ceilings on the team???

Adrian Kempe- from what I've read is a bruising man child with speed, power and offensive flair who can play a 200ft game but lacks consistency. Can he be our new age Adam Deadmarsh or is his ceiling higher/lower??

Michael Amadio- was drafted because of his defensive dominance, but went from being 5-9,165 to 6-2,196 and with his improved size so has grown his offensive game. It has grown to the point were scouts consider his shot, release and accuracy as ELITE, He looks like a Mike Richards clone with much more size or is that too high of a ceiling for what could be the steal of the 2014 draft....

Was more thinking if another player was brought in to fill Lucic's position. Don't think I'd protect Gaborik/Brown.

this man has got the right idea

Man oh man. Just catching up. Lombardi's rental moves the past couple of years. Yee-ouch.

He won't be winning GM of the Year anytime soon!

(But at least he has his cup rings to keep him warm.)

Sekera got injured so it's hard to assess
Lucic helped LA to one of the best regular seasons in franchise history. Plus he was a King for a whole year not just a trade deadline rental.

Our cup window was very much open the last two years, I am glad we have a GM willing to swing for the fences.

I think DL has something up his sleeve. I'm thinking King for Folin and a pick and then he moves one of Gravel or Forbort for a pick or a change in philosophy winger for the bottom 6.

Doughty-McNabb
Muzzin-Martinez
Greene-Folin
Forbort

McNabb on the top line?
Surely, we aren't going this route again.
