Smith on retention is possible but not holding my breathe
If we can move Pionk and get the same return that Montour pulled that would be insane... or take one of these 1st rounders/low 2nd rounders and package them with Pionk for another real RHD.
Names should be moved but who takes him at $4M? We'd probably have to retain
If we need another retention slot you're looking at talking with Vancouver and throwing them a late pick to take Spooners full $4M salary instead of the $3.1M they are committed to

Regardless of what he returns, I feel like I’d need to take a break from these boards for a few days if he’s traded

I literally want to see him traded just to watch the meltdown that will inevitably occur.

I'm convinced that we could trade Kreider straight up for McDavid and some people on here would be furious that EDM didn't add a first.

I don't want Kreider going ANYWHERE. He's finally the player we envisioned years ago, a real leader, and has a serious bond with Zibanejad on-ice. A unique, hard to get type of player with many good years ahead I'd happily pay market for. IF he goes... yeah, absolutely, the return better be the proverbial "offer you can't refuse".
