Lemieux basically goes into the spot I thought Lias would be in for the long haul. Pain to play against on the third line wing. Seem like a similar player although lemieux can actually skate. But he’s also going to be 23 in like 2 weeks and hasn’t done squat at the nhl level.

This is the return you get for a rental though. Which is why Hayes and Zucc should have been dealt last year. Stupid

And what if these were essentially the deals last year?

Calgary likely offered something similar, their 1st which will be even higher and a b level prospect. No one is trading their top prospects anymore.

I believe the Calgary discussion were a bit more expansive.

Seriously folks, if you want top quality prospects in today's NHL, you need to trade players with term; UFAs do NOT fetch them. The picks lead the returns, because they are your chance to acquire such players in the draft.

I'd add good players who will still be RFAs, who also have a year left too, Montour being an example.

Happy with the deal, Lemieux is ok not great but its going to be tough to get a great prospect for a rental player, I like the 1st even though it most likely will be a late 1st, we got a decent prospect, a 1st, and possibly a 4th for a rental player, if Hayes had term they probably would've gotten more, im happy with it.

So if things remain unchanged, we will draft 7 times in the first round, between 2017-2019.

If the hockey gods finally decide the Rangers are due, and want to restore some balance to the universe, the Rangers will pick 9 times in the first between 2017-2019, and then an additional two times in 2020, including first overall in 2019.
