I sign Kreider to an extension as soon as I can if I'm Gorton.

Mika-Kreider can by a dynamic duo for at least 5 more years. And Kreider is going to be just fine even if he starts to slow down, he's a bonafide elite net front player.

Toronto has nothing they'd be willing to trade that would make it worth it for us. You can't go for quantity over quality. Five turds don't equal one diamond.

He could be tough to sign given the contracts that have been given out. I see a lot of talk here that Kreider is better than Nylander, well Nylander got 7 mill and while I dont agree that Kreider is better there is definately a comparable. Does 45-50 mill over 8 years sound good? 42-45 for 7? That's what he will be looking for.

Kreider is on pace to shatter career highs this year, and I have no reason to think that's a fluke.

Nylander is also a vastly inferior all-around player who isn't particularly good at anything but scoring.

And what was Kreider at 22? A defensive whiz? Scoring is a really important thing. I'd argue the most important. He can learn and be taught other things and he's much younger.

Kreider might sustain this level of play for a few years, but we are probably around 3-5 years from being competitive again and I'd rather hedge with younger players who already produce on the scoresheet similarly.

If Shattenkirk can't garner a decent package, why would we trade him? He is just starting to rebuild his value and could be significantly more valuable if he is able to maintain his game for the next year.

we've waited years for Krieder' potential to translate. Now that he's become the player we all knew he could one day become, I don't want to trade that. We would miss the size, speed, strength combo that I really don't see anywhere else in the league. I say pay the man, he's worth it.
