Rather use the cash on Bread or EK

I didn't think about this...

Rangers are not only getting assets for this guy, but they are giving themselves shots at FOUR possible offseason targets in Stone, Panarin, Hayes, and Karlsson. Not hedging their bets on the offseason either, since these are just options

I think this deal is more than acceptable, especially considering Stone hasn’t been moved/signed yet.

So with Hayes and Zucc gone (and an outside chance of resigning with the Rangers in the summer) the Rangers have gotten back:

2019 WPG 1st rd pick
2019 DAL 2nd rd pick (1st rd if Dal wins 2 series and Zuc plays 50% of playoff games)
2020 DAL 3rd rd pick (1st if resigned with Dallas)
2019 WPG 4th rd pick (only if Jets win the Cup)
Brendan Lemeiux

And now McQuaid is the top Trade bait D according to TSN. Next up. Get a 3rd or better…

Would be great if the final is Jets/Stars vs Tampa - at least theres some added reason to watch the playoffs this year...

I need help keeping this straight in my head.

So, right now we want Tampa to win the cup, Dallas to make it to the conference finals, and then Zucc to re-sign with Dallas.

If Winnipeg falls apart and pushes their pick into the early 20s, that's a cherry on top.

The backup plan is for Winnipeg to win the cup, after defeating Dallas in the conference finals, and then for the Stars to resign Zucc.

The Rangers luck will have another team winning the cup, with Tampa and Dallas both bombing and Zucc going to the Islanders.

Correct. Tampa wins the Cup. Stars make WCF, re-sign Zucc and then miss playoffs next season. Winnipeg to get upset early.

What probably happens is that Isles win the Cup. Stars lose in 1st round. Zucc bolts. Jets lose in SC against the Isles.

So definitely rooting for a quick exit for Winnipeg, that first could be low 20's which is much better than what a Calgary 1st would've been. It looks like again Groton saw the value in getting the "better" first.

really, the return has been fairly weak.

a low 1st and a 2nd and 3rd.

Calgary is a name that came up a lot.

Sounds more like a deal fell apart, which happens so much more than people realize.

I think people underrat Lemieux calling him just a grinder. He scored very well in the AHL last year and has been played in a role not conducive to offense at all this year. For example Roslovic, who everyone wants as a scoring prospect, until Ehlers got hurt was in that same 4th line role and also did nothing. Roslovic averaged under 8 mins a game in OCT-DEC with 8 pts in 38 games. And despite all his penalties he's drawn way more minors that he has taken.

It's better for us if Winnipeg drops early

Any ideas what the deal was?

Really disappointed that we couldn't do a 1st and a dman like what was discussed yesterday

If someone was expecting impact players for renting Zucc and Hayes, they haven't been following the sport outside of NY very well.
