As a Leafs fan, I’m desperately hoping you’re wrong about Toronto acquiring the washed up and overpaid Schenn brothers.

ESPECIALLY when you project that it’ll cost Nick Robertson, Cowan, Niemela, a 1st and a 2nd to acquire them. I’m cringing at how terrible those trades would be.

Montréal:for. Second + third round pick

To Edmonton: John Gibson (25% )

Anaheim: Sam Oreilly

None of those trades work cap-wise for Ottawa. They're also not going to trade a 1st round pick under any circumstances - that would mean they went a 5 year stretch [2022, 2023, 2024, 2025, 2026] only making a single selection in the 1st round. Remember that they owe either their 2025 or 2026 to the league. On top of that, their pick in 2021 [Tyler Boucher] is a complete bust so it's functionally more like 6 years. They have yet to make a single playoff appearance over this time frame.

So none of it makes any sense at all.
