Qualifications for scouting are free time and ability to digest a lot of hot dogs
listen you can take pot shots at me or the guys who are on the road all day long, doesnt matter.

what i will tell you since you think ohl scouts are worthless, i had lunch with two buddies before the spits game saturday, both won stanley cup rings and are now in nhl management. they think im right and the guy is a 'cowboy with money'. they think hes doing it the wrong way. its not just them, its pretty much everyone i talk to.

you can feel differently, thats great, we all have opinions. i dont really care about arguing the same thing over and over at this point. have a good day

I was not taking a shot at you, sorry that you took it that way. I was just saying the $20M + cowboy has the same qualification for his hobby as the scout for 14-15 yr olds does for his hobby; free-time.
Time will tell if DeDobbelaer if his flurry of moves are good or bad. The team appears much better for 2022-24 to me.

Depends what your definition of "much better" is. Will they win more regular season games because of the moves? Probably. Will it give them a better chance to win a championship? I don't think so.

Comes down to what your goals are I guess. If they're not winning championships, I think you're in the wrong business. But I guess it's an owners right to just want a decent team so he can trick fans into buying tickets.

Barrie with no Clarke or Cardwell tonight and still outshot them 38-27 and handily beat them 5-2. Twice already they've gotten beat and outshot by a lot by their fellow central division rivals (who were both missing several of their best players)

There will be a lot of losses to Barrie, Miss, NB of the central division no matter the opponent.
I watched the NB-Petes game, but during an intermission I watched 11-12 min in the 2nd period of the Niagara-Barrie game. I don’t think the colts will lose many games given a 7-2 PP advantage. That game was essentially determined by two costly delay of game penalties and possibly a statement game by Vierling. It’s the first time I’ve seen Vierling dominate time of possession over several consecutive shifts. And I’ve got to say, Akey is really, really good.

I’m not sure how you don’t recognize that the Icedogs are built to compete now, look good to the memorial cup committee late winter, and contend next season. The Icedogs will have good OAs to keep and trade next fall. Leblanc, Leblanc, Flores, Vannetten, Klein is a roster upgrade over Cooke, Struthers, Roobroek imo.
I think Niagara is much better overall for all the moves.

Five players out in combine games is not several players.

@three dog night are the fully healthy IceDogs (Zito and Cato are back in) a lock tonight on home ice against the young gens, who are missing their best player? Could get pretty good odds on pinnacle

Did you watch the game tonight? I'm sorry dude, but they're not good. The Gens are a super young team who are missing their best player and are blowing them out the entire night. They beat them in every single facet of the game tonight. That doesn't happen to good teams. I had the Gens as an 8th place team this year WITH Harrison....

I don't want to just shit on Niagara but for some reason you act like they're the best team ever. They don't have a #1 goalie, don't have a #1 or a #2 defenceman and have no forward depth. They don't have a single 3rd or 4th liner who will ever create offence with any sort of consistency. And they don't have a stud on line 1 or 2 who can make up for that. I don't understand how you think they're a Mem Cup contender

And then after this season they lose Papais, Ribau, Jesus and 4 of Zito, Dann, Sirozzotti, Michaud, Rosenzweig, Cato and Agostinelli. They're not in a good spot for this year or next year.

I think they’ll be a good team this year - they just need to find chemistry. more than 50% of this roster are new players. It’ll take time.
