Oshawa scored three goals in period one and then went on to double the Icedogs 6 to 3 .Oshawa a balance scoring at track led by Ritchie and Butler each scoring a goal and two assists. Dogs goal by Copeland Finis and Waddick shots 40 to 35 Oshawa attendance 3,075 at the Meridian Centre , Next game home tomorrow night against Guelph.

I think the team is better than last year and could be a middle of the pack team. But next year I actually think they will take a step backwards as they will be losing at least 7 players. If this is how the IceDogs are going to operate, I don't see them ever winning a championship.

I think they’ll be a good team this year - they just need to find chemistry. more than 50% of this roster are new players. It’ll take time.
I guess my question would be the definition of “good”. Do you mean good as in they could finish 4th in the conference? I could see that. Or do you mean good as in they could win the OHL title and win the Mem Cup? I can’t see that

Exactly what I think too. But I’ve been called an idiot for saying this lol

Did you watch the game tonight? I'm sorry dude, but they're not good. The Gens are a super young team who are missing their best player and are blowing them out the entire night. They beat them in every single facet of the game tonight. That doesn't happen to good teams. I had the Gens as an 8th place team this year WITH Harrison....

I don't want to just shit on Niagara but for some reason you act like they're the best team ever. They don't have a #1 goalie, don't have a #1 or a #2 defenceman and have no forward depth. They don't have a single 3rd or 4th liner who will ever create offence with any sort of consistency. And they don't have a stud on line 1 or 2 who can make up for that. I don't understand how you think they're a Mem Cup contender

And then after this season they lose Papais, Ribau, Jesus and 4 of Zito, Dann, Sirozzotti, Michaud, Rosenzweig, Cato and Agostinelli. They're not in a good spot for this year or next year.
No, I did not watch that game. I watched Flint-Guelph, and bits of Ottawa-Kitchener.
Dude, you exaggerate to extremes.
I did not state Niagara is the best team ever. I believe the team is ‘built to compete now and contend next season’ given the concentration of players born 2003-04 and their draft positions. The 2024 playoffs are ~130 regular season games plus 2023 playoffs away from now. I am fully aware of what Miss, NB, & SBY have and realize Niagara is not certain to contend next season. But I fully believe that is the intent and believe it to be possible if not likely.
Niagara does not necessarily lose 4/7 - 2003 born next season; one may graduate, and 3 may be traded.

What exactly is a ‘super young’ OHL team? I’ve looked at team comparisons in the past because of such claims. My guess is that the difference between the average age of oldest and youngest teams is 6-7 months. And that is skewed by older teams having one 16 yr that plays and younger teams having 3-4 16 yr olds of which 2-3 are effectively glued to the bench. I would not be surprised in the least if NB is (younger) than Oshawa. And maybe Miss as well because they might roster 4-16 yr olds. Experience would be the same idea, the inexperienced team might have a rookie BUG and one more 16 yr old than the norm.

IceDogs will be ok. I believe they will perform below average for the first few months until they create some synergy and then they will rally to finish between 4th and 6th in the east. Just an opinion

I agree with this. But you can't make all those trades, trade away so many young players for veteran players and then finish 4th to 6th. That would be a massive failure and waste of your youth. That's been my point all along. The posts dirty12 has been making makes it sound like NIA has been doing great and will finish in the 1st-3rd range. That's where my disagreement has been the entire time

To offset the move, overage defenceman Gerard Keane was shipped with a 12th round pick to the Niagara IceDogs for 18-year-old defenceman Alec Leonard, Mississauga’s second-round pick in 2026 and North Bay’s third-round selection in 2023.
This was posted on the London board. If true, which OA gets moved out?

a 5th in 25
Not even @dirty12 can spin this as good. Give 3rd+4th for Papais then 6 games later trade him for a 5th. So, so bad.

And again, I told you they’re making their moves for this year. Leonard was one of their only good longer term pieces. He’s gone for an OA lol
