2000s Buffalo fans at (then) MCI/Verizon Center: Mostly likely to puke on their own shoes while drunkenly stumbling off the Sabres fan bus. Also most likely to get in a fight in the stands during a game.

They were the worst back then. Far, far worse than Pittsburgh or Philadelphia fans.

Confirmed. Was at one of the games where the whole Briere spearing thing was blowing up and it was a mess.

Yup…..they were awful…..that’s why I choke when I see someone here pulling for the Sabres to get back to credibility……Fffffffffffffff that…..

To this day one of my favorite games, sitting behinds us randomly, we had a group of 20 in from Europe, loud-ass Germans chanting “Buffalo where are you?” in a thick accent….these people were drowning out every Sabres fan….and I think it was a lopsided victory for us so they never stopped the entire game……F the Sabres…

Was also annoying how damn loud they were, even watching at home on TV it was like a free home game, and the high octane version of them beat the hell out of us for so long it kind of amplified it.

Hated them

Ovy has 9 50 goal seasons, now with McDavid active NHL players have 10 50 goal seasons

But Matthews, Stamkos, Kane, Pastrnak, Draisatl etc? You mean 10 active players has at least one 50 goal season?

Orlov with another goal. Seems like having him in the right circle on the PP ready to one-time, with the threat of Pasta on the other side, is a good formation.

Shame it was impossible for Forsythe to draw that one up /s

Well you know we don't really have a right shot LW who is good at one timers so can't blame him really.......

Drai and Stamkos have done it twice, Pasta hasn’t done it, 6 other guys have done it once, meant it like I said it

Orlov's performance just shows how much context matters. Boston is having an historically good year and so he's thriving--probably overachieving--in that environment. Good for him, but whatever team pays for that probably will get less, still good, but less good because the 22-23 Bruins are an anomaly. It also shows that whoever was declaring him in decline was taking his performance here too much out of context.

I suspect the same is true for a lot of guys. The Caps are a train wreck this year and it's a vicious circle... guys struggle, the team declines, guys struggle more. So all the hand-wringing about Sheary is probably also based on taking his recent performance too much out of context. Keep him for a reasonable price and term. Put him in an appropriate role in, hopefully, a better system and he probably earns his paycheck just fine.

I think it’s fair to be disappointed that they had an elite defenseman on a sweetheart deal and underutilized him while also not taking advantage of the cap savings he was providing.

How did they not take advantage? Orlov taking less money allowed them to keep several star players on the team.

Whether or not those players have been delivering the last few years is another issue.

With Orlov I’ll speak to how a lot of people feel probably we never really gave him much of a shot on the power-play maybe two shifts only because we thought he couldn’t make the pass to Ovechkin on a one timer.
Same reasons people are mad we never tried out Mantha on the PowerPlay

That said, hopefully, we have a new coaching staff in PowerPlay next season

Even before this season Sheary hasn't really been all that impressive. In a world where they’re competitive he's a third line winger with insulated deployments given his defensive deficiencies. The problem is Oshie is also a third line winger. And Backstrom is at best a 3C entering next year. And NAK is not capable in a top 6 role. So all of a sudden there's one bottom 6 forward role available on the 4th line and whoops, nowhere to give guys like Snively, McMichael, Protas, etc. a shot.

I can’t even really get behind Sheary returning at league minimum at this point.

Say what you will about Sheary but he hustles and tries hard. That's all im asking at this point so im fine with him on the second or third line.

I’m with you. Don’t want Sheary back. I think he is a fine player for what he gets paid. But I want to get younger and bring up Snively for that spot. No need to resign him. Someone will give him more than minimum salary anyway.

I think they need to aim higher than a hard-worker for that role. There needs to be more skill and upside.
