Back in the game. Awkward hit.

Tough loss for Florida. Some talk they could move Bennett or Reinhart.

They better get to it before all the picks are gone lol.

Not so sure about a ruptured aneurysm but I’m pretty sure he’s confused.

He's in another world, just watch his interviews. I am not sure how many are familiar with D&D but it's like his mind is controlled by an illithid or mindflayer. No enthuisiasm or emotion, just pondering the science of Bryzgalov.

As of right now, I'll be rooting for the Senators in the East, that's about the only team I can get behind. Outside of the Sens, I think I'm forced to pull for the Maple Leafs, despite their Dallas Cowboys-eque joke of playoff success. I just can't cheer for any Metro team or the Bruins and Lightning. If Buffalo makes it, I can happily root for them as well.

Anybody from the West is acceptable except Vegas. Call me a hater, but something about having the Oilers fail excites me as well.

Blaine Forsythe is probably having an aneurysm watching Orlov score a one-timer on the PP
He should be embarrassed, as should our whole coaching staff. Obviously he’s playing with better guys, but Dima is creating these goals via his puck moving skills, and his bomb of a shot.

He’s also racking up assists (2 more tonite). It’s not some complicated new scheme, they’re just letting him play to his strengths, and cook.

They’re already going with Bobby Orrlov in Boston, lol.

I have been calling for this for years first with Orlov and then with Mantha. It’s the same setup Tampa uses to utilize Stamkos and Kucherov. It’s ridiculous the Caps never really use it, especially after paying to acquire Mantha when his one-timer is actually one of his stronger attributes.

Glad to see Orlov doing well but also sad because I had a pipe dream he’d come back this summer. Now it looks like he’s going to get paid, or maybe he takes a discount to stay in Boston if he loves it there. Good for him, sucks for us.

And they are the only fan base that can pull that off. Save people who were around the Orr family.

We cannot. We must not!

You mean no Patrick Division team? ;)
Exactly. Carolina has solidified itself in that area as well.

I suppose the CBJ aren’t a team I’d rather see lose, than say the B’s, the Leafs, or the Panthers I’m “mutish” on most of the Atlantic too.

I used to loathe TBL. Once they one their first Cup, it depressed me. Then they won another one, and I came to accept them. They were Thanos. So if they keep doing there things and It prevents all the other teams I loathe in East, then good for me.

Some good results, some really weird ones.

Panthers are really trying hard not to make the Playoffs.

I don't think i can root for an another Eastern team. I will propably watch the chaos ensue though. Avs are a great trade partner for us and now that they have Eller they are easy team to root for. Plus their playing style is exciting as hell (after watching the full season of Capitals hockey) and they have all the tools to repeat.

Dima is playing well in Boston and because of that there is less and less of a chance that he will comeback to DC.
If he continues to play like this he will be paid, but not by the Caps

It's a bizarre thing to see our players go to other teams and just find another gear. But yea I'm not exactly surprised to see Dima thriving in Boston. He is or was the best defenseman on this team for the past few years.

Honest question — who is finding another gear? Orlov was always our best overall defenseman and we drove him into the ground because of Carlson so it’s not surprising to see him kill it in easier minutes. Anyone else?

The sad reality is the guys we traded were the guys who were our best players this year. The sell-off wasn’t because of them, it was because of injuries and because of our highest paid players playing like dogshit.

Don't think Orlov has found 'another gear' as much as the B's coaches understanding his strengths and putting him in a position to contribute. I watched the last 3 B's games. Sure, he's motivated to perform on a new team, but it's more about the system he's playing in and players surrounding him who work hard.

Here's Forsythe utilizing players on the PP:

Oh, another sad thought, how many goals did the Caps not score because of Forsythe? Rather certain we would be a lock in the playoffs without him.

I think the non-negotiable, relentless work ethic across the entire roster at all times on both sides of the ice culture of the Bruins can result in new players who share that work ethic being more productive than they were on a team where such an ethos was episodic and lumpy

All of this except no on the Leafs.

Jets, Oilers, Buffalo, and Kings I'll be ok with. I always liked them growing up and I will watch Seattle. I won't root for Vegas, but if they make the finals against any metro team I will be ok. Boston is alright with me in the East and they aren't going to be good in a few years anyway. The East is worth watching just for the pure drama in the playoffs and it will be entertaining. Watching the NJD and NYR kill each other is worth it.

Whoever I bet on lol

One thing I've learned is never bet against the Pens even with a sub par roster. If one team can upset the Bruins, it could be the Pens.

Buffalo is a fun team to watch but I still have a grudge against their fans. Back in the 2000s when they were good, their fans were some of the most entitled and annoying folks around the league.
2000s Buffalo fans at (then) MCI/Verizon Center: Mostly likely to puke on their own shoes while drunkenly stumbling off the Sabres fan bus. Also most likely to get in a fight in the stands during a game.

They were the worst back then. Far, far worse than Pittsburgh or Philadelphia fans.
