I almost feel bad for the Penguins for paying up to acquire a declining Mikael Granlund on that contract.

Almost.

CapFriendly is showing the Bruins Cap next year with the Pastrnak extension for just the forwards at 32 mil as compared to this season where it's at 37 mil. Keep in mind that 32 mil is without any of the '23 UFAs (Bergeron, Krejci, Hathaway, Bertuzzi, Nosek and Foligno) not to mention RFAs Frederic and Lauko. The Defense is not much better with a projected cap for next season near 28 mil versus just over 32 mil this season. with both Orlov and Clifton pending UFAs and of course you have Swayman a goalie a pending RFA. And with all of this you still have Taylor Hall who's currently LTIR for two more years at 6 mil..

Those 2024 and 2025 picks from the Bruins looking better each day.
They do seem to have mortgaged the farm for this year's SC, obviously ignoring the curse of the Presidents Cup that we as Capitals fans are all too familiar with. Anything short of not winning the cup for them will be a hard landing but a must read of their boards as well if it happens.

twabby’s enemies list (ranked):

1. NY Rangers
2. Carolina
3. NY Islanders

These are the only teams I really have strong negative feelings for. The Rangers are easily my most disliked team in the league and that only went up with the Kane acquisition.

I don’t really care about the Penguins any more. And I kind of just feel bad for the Flyers nowadays.

So is anybody watching Bruins games all of a sudden because Orlov and Hathaway are playing for them? Not me, but I am checking box scores more.

And - is there anybody who wants Boston to win a Cup just so Orlov wins another one and Hathaway wins his first?

As much as i would like that for those two guys, I would hate to see the rest of that team lift a Cup, and the fanbase is so obnoxious (mostly) I couldn't bear (no pun intended) it either.

Then again, would take them over the Rangers any day! God I hope neither of them wins.

Funny timing with our posts!

I’m not watching their games but I’m certainly paying attention to the stats. I’m rooting for Boston. Orlov was probably my third favorite Cap behind Ovie and Backstrom so I’m bandwagoning them and Minnesota I guess. Though it’s hard to see MIN doing much in the postseason.

I only hate the Canes when we are playing them. But I always hate Brindamour when I see his stoopid face no matter who they are playing. Which is weird because I loved him as a player. I guess it's because he seems like a very aggressive, obnoxious person since he's become a coach.

Not worried about the Isles - they're not winning a Cup anyway.

I thought the same thing - snap.

I think we exchanged posts right before start of season about Minny. You ranked them quite high in the Central and I think I marked them down as missing because I felt they had pinned everything on Fleury in goal and if he failed they were screwed. I did NOT expect Gustavsson to step up the way he has. I like Minnesota. Kaprizov is one of the most entertaining players in the league.

I see no reason Washington couldn’t also trade for Liljegren.

I don’t know what Toronto is doing.

Seems like they believe what's holding them back from going deeper in the playoffs is a lack of experience. So they've added vets and Cup winners (O'Reilly, Schenn).

Problem is Cups are won from the net outwards, right? And look who they have in goal. It's Spinnin' Sammy

Good for Orly….not like the Caps would ever change the entire PP scheme for him though…but this is why we knew he could be more valuable to another franchise.

Dude just got inserted into a championship level roster….nobody should be expecting him to not be playing great.

Orlov is just crushing it, god damn

No doubt, making every opportunity count and wants paid. I can't believe some folks at work said he wasn't worth the price Boston paid. I just shake my head with folks that just stick to watching their favorite teams and not watch league talent.

I’m glad we never tried him over there instead of Kuzy or Backstrom smh.I do remember Kuznetsov used to go for a one timer every once in a while, occasionally it worked. Now he just tries an absurd top corner shot that never works

Back in the game. Awkward hit.

Tough loss for Florida. Some talk they could move Bennett or Reinhart.

Toronto should have another move in them before the TDL passes. I find it hard to believe they’ll hold onto Boston’s first round pick. If they do make another trade I have to believe they’ll dump one of their surplus D-men but it’d be insane to trade Liljegren.
