Downsides: Sitting in a diaper, few chances at comeraderie, most of your peers hate you for never putting yourself in harm's way... I suppose the implied nature of picking Sniper is self-reliance and discipline.

Pilots train a lot, have to listen to instructions (coaching), work in a crew, trust the work of others, etc. I feel with pilots it is "I do my job, you do yours". Medics are more obvious: brave, self-sacrifice, immediate impact, etc.

It's an interesting question. My first instinct would be to prefer drafting a Pilot.
If you don't have a pilot, you can't bring anybody to the battlefield including the other 2.

I'd take the pilot too!

Here's the biggest takeaways from the draft article.. it's gonna make some people happy and other people not so happy.

  • Deems it UNLIKELY both Lindstrom and Demidov are there.
  • Deems it JUST AS UNLIKELY that NEITHER of them are there.
  • In the event BOTH are there - they would lean LINDSTROM.
  • In the event neither are there they'd look at Buium and Parekh.

Was debating with a buddy the other day if it would be advantageous to go vice versa and trade him to the ducks to play with Zegras (with a +) for the 3rd pick.

Don't know if I'd pull the trigger as he's huge in the room but definitely would debate it if I was Habs management.
I’d do it 100% and I think cole would want it.

May as well plan for a defensman at 5OA.
Lindstrom impressed too much at combine and now more questions about Demidov...in Basu's article he mentions there may be a lot of pressure for Demidov to sign with SKA as his family lives there and his two brother play for the team...yeah that's risky. There is suddenly smoke about taking a defenseman, there must be fire.

And if they trade one of our better defensemen in the next couple weeks to add a top 6 forward then...

I’m ready for anything. Should it be a D, will probably be one of the best in the draft.

It will be another great asset added, not a terrible thing.

I’m just thinking another left D is madness. Hugo will have to get great value on a trade of at least 2-3 of the ones we have now

Buium and Dickinson make the least amount of sense to me.

But I think if even the Habs would have questions on Demidov v. Lindstrom, then Chicago going Lev is making sense.. presumably Anaheim would stay defense, and then CBJ would lean Lindstrom.

Basu just said the Habs would probably go Buium and Parekh over Iginla and Sennecke.

That's wild. I'm shocked they'd look at Buium and Parekh over Dickinson or Lev, just based on Gorton and Bobrov's general propensities.

I mean, just mathematically, one of those guys would be on the board if Lindstrom AND Demidov are gone.

I find it hard to believe there are no D on their list before Iggy.

According to Basu, both Buium & Parekh are on Montréal's list. If both Lindstrom & Demidov are gone, they likely go D. If both are there, they likely take Lindstrom. Although, If both are gone, one of Dickinson or Levshunov would be there, too.

The thing is if neither Lindstrom or Demidov are there that means one of Dickinson or Levshunov is. It would mean 3F & 1D in first 4 picks.

He's saying Montreal would take Buium or Parekh before either Dickinson or Levshunov?

I assume Levshunov goes 1st D, so our choices would then be Dickinson, Buium or Parekh.

Go big or go home I guess. Let’s go!

Just read his article, Basu sees it as

Tier 1: Demidov or Lindstrom
Tier 2: Buuium or Parekh
Tier 3: Iggy or Senneke
OK so where did Dickinson, Levushnov and the Big Russian D disappear to ? did they go 2-3-4? then if so Habs take Lindstrom or whoever they want.

I guess in that instance of going with either Buium or Parekh it’s bye bye Hutson or Mailloux for forward help.

Buium imo is a year away, and blueline is already crowded on LD. Ditto Dickinson.

Parekh needs 2 years to upgrade his strength and skating. Savard & Kovacevic will be gone by then and probably Barron, too. We'll have Reinbacher, Mailloux & Parekh as our only true RD which is a little more palpable.
