Big fan of that line actually.

Well then, you're not going to be happy as I split it up in the trade deadline. (the team went downhill)

Maybe I can get them reunited next season!

Anyways!

The hopeful season for the New York Islanders went up in a flame, as they are no longer in the playoff run anymore. Although, the Isles GM is gearing up for the draft and free agency again. With the trade deadline past us, the New York Islanders have a new team. The Islanders acquired Jack Johnson from the Los Angeles Kings, in exchange for Kyle Okposo and a 2014 4th round draft pick. "We had the perfect offense, what we were missing was another top pairing defenseman, and that's who we received. We are very excited for Johnson to play in this organization," says Isles General Manager. Though, the Isles GM was still not finished. He then traded away Michael Ryder and a 2014 5th round pick to the Edmonton Oilers for their 1st round draft pick. With this, the Isles staff proceeded to trade away the Oilers 1st and Zach Hamill to the Columbus Blue Jackets for Devin Setoguchi. " To take Ryder's place, we needed a good, skillful, scoring RWer who can play in our system, and we feel Seto can do that for us."

I'm impressed with everyone else's write-ups so I've decided to give it a try. Be gentle though, I'm new at this write-up thing. :help: Constructive critism and new ideas are much appreciated as I’m aiming to make this as good as can be with me writing it.

Breaking News Out of the NHL:

Another team in on the move. First it was the Atlanta Thrashers heading to Winnipeg now, in a stunning move the NHL has approved the sale of the New York Islanders to, wait for it, the Czech Republic. Charles Wang, now former owner of the Islanders was apparently given an offer you couldn’t refuse as a coalition of owners from the Czech top hockey league decided to try and buy an NHL team. The owner with the most shares in the team is also the owner of the HC Sparta Praha team. According to reports the new team will keep the name HC Sparta Praha to make it easier for fans to get on board with the team and to keep with the deep roots of Czech hockey. What it also means is that HC Sparta Praha has left the Czech elite league and its’ players will be available to the other teams. The owners of the team said they were excited to buy the Islanders in order to share with Europe some of the best hockey possible.

NHL commissioner Gary Bettman was strongly for this deal. Bettman said that he’s excited for the NHL to expand its locations and hopefully bring in more fans from Europe. “It’s time for the NHL to reach out and give European hockey fans a chance to really get into the greatest game on earth†said Bettman during the announcement of the Islanders being moved.

Many experts were surprised by this move. Having an NHL team in Europe is almost the riskiest thing the NHL can do, said hockey analyst Pierre McGuire. McGuire added that if the new team isn’t successful in the first two years we could see the franchise head back to North America.

Another issue many experts have is the travel times for the team and anyone going on a road game to play HC Sparta Praha. Many experts are afraid that the increased travel could make the games at HC Sparta Praha or with HC Sparta Praha playing on the road, rather boring. Bettman though isn’t worried. He’s confident that the players are strong enough to handle the travel.

There has been no word yet on who the general manager will be or the head coach. The owners of HC Sparta Praha will be making their decision shortly though.

Breaking News: NHL Comes Up With New Draft

As if the Islanders being sold wasn’t big enough news the NHL has announced that the NHL entry draft will not take place this year. Instead there will be a new draft, one which will be both exciting and controversial. Every player as of now has been released from their current team and will enter the draft. Every team will now have a shot to draft a completely new team. Still don’t understand? Pretty much it means that Crosby is no longer a Penguin unless the Penguins win the lottery again. Many fans are in turmoil right now, most are unhappy that they lost their superstars while excited at the possibility at getting an even better team.

Many NHL General Managers are hard at work with their staffs figuring out a draft strategy. Never before has a draft had so much attention. The spotlight is burning brightly on the GM’s as the fans are expecting their team to come out of the draft on top.

The lottery will follow a snake format meaning whoever gets the first pick in the first round gets the last pick in the second round.

HC Sparta Praha Names their GM and Head Coach

Mariusz Czerkawski, the “Polish Gretzkyâ€, has been named General Manager of the NHL’s newest team, HC Sparta Praha. This move is completely unexpected as Czerkawski will be one of the youngest GM’s in the league. “I’m ecstatic to be the GM of this new and upcoming team. I know the pressure is on but it’s expectedâ€, said Czerkawski in his first interview as the new general manager. When asked about his draft strategy, Czerkawski hinted that young players will be who he is aiming for stating that he is aiming for long term success but he knows that winning almost immediately is necessary too. And it looks like Dominik HaÅ¡ek will be making his return to hockey, although as head coach instead of goalie. In order to keep with their Czech roots the team has decided to go with a former Czech player to coach the team. While Hasek isn't the coach many would want to have, he does know what it takes to win. This tandem of Czerkawski and Hasek will certainly be interesting to watch.

Draft Over, Time for the Season

The NHL draft is over. Each team made 32 selections and now have free agency to sign players to fill the holes left after the draft. As expected the top two picks were Sidney Crosby and Alex Ovechkin. The Boston Bruins and Calgary Flames should be set for a couple of years now with these two superstars on their teams. In their first season back in the NHL the Winnipeg Jets decided to go with a young proven forward in Corey Perry. Turning to the first European NHL team in the history of the NHL, HC Sparta Praha, Sparta GM Mariusz Czerkawski surprised a few people by taking defenseman Shea Weber. While Weber is among the elite in the NHL, with Czerkawski’s offensive background a forward was expected, someone like Matt Duchene or Eric Staal. Czerkawski said that Weber was always the target. Both him and Hasek really like Weber’s style and the leadership he brings to the team. “Weber is a premiere player in the NHL and a player any team can build around. Having someone who can lead not only off the ice but on the ice as well is crucial to any team†Sparta GM Mariusz Czerkawski on using first round pick on Shea Weber.

“I’m a bit surprised on going in the first round with so many other elite defensemen and goalies and forwards to pick from. I am happy though that Czerkawski did pick me and that he has faith in me as well.†HC Sparta defenseman Shea Weber on being drafted, “I know the pressure is on from all over the globe to succeed so it will be my job to make sure the team doesn’t allow the pressure to affect them.â€

HC Sparta Praha GM Czerkawski stuck to his drafting strategy of creating a competitive team now and preparing for the future as well. His next two picks were centre Mike Richards and goalie Tuuka Rask. From there he picked wingers, Danny Briere and Shane Doan, a partner for Weber in Nicklas Lindstrom, then just filled in the lines from there. One more thing of note is that after the draft many analysts and scouts were saying that HC Sparta Praha has one of, if the not, deepest prospect pools in the NHL now.

Two other noteworthy picks of HC Sparta Praha were Patrick Elias and Milan Hejduk. Both were born in the Czech Republic and were drafted to help draw more fans in. It’s not like both are washed up though. Both players have had successful careers to date and are expected to help the younger players with the transition to the NHL and the area.

Trade Deadline Over

With the trade deadline over its no surprise HC Sparta Praha did not make any moves. Leading the league with a 41-15-6 record for 88 points, there was no reason for GM Mariusz Czerkawski to make any moves. “I did receive phone calls but none of the offers were worth giving a second thought,†said Czerkawski after the deadline passed “our team has meshed well together and we are not going to mess with success.â€

Atlantic Division Champs!
HC Sparta Praha delivered in the regular season just as they wanted to. They won the Atlantic Division and ended up second in the Eastern Conference. “We’re right where we wanted to be when the season started,†states Sparta GM Czerkawski, “we knew we could be successful at such an early stage.â€

A big reason for Sparta’s success is their home record, 27-10-4, which was one of the best in the league. Shea Weber never had any doubts, “we knew that we could use home ice advantage to give us wins, and the fans were great here as well.â€

While it took a bit for the team to start filling the stands, by the All-Star break the arena was filling up. “All we were focused on was winning and nothing else,†says Patrick Elias “it didn’t seem we had many fans at first but then they started to come in droves. It’s been great to play in my home country.â€

With the season over Sparta will face the 7th seed in the Eastern Conference, the Tampa Bay Lightning. This will not be an easy match-up for HC Sparta Praha as Evgeni Malkin is looking ready to take his team all the way to the finals. “It won’t be easy obviously, but by now we’re used to not doing things the easy way,†Sparta head coach Dominik Hasek commenting on the upcoming series.

Yakupov Leaves Mississauga, Jets Take On Struggling Russian
The Mississauga News – Monday, December 14, 2015

f20d218c496d9657fcf24fd4737f.jpeg

The Winnipeg Jets will attempt to revive the career of Nail Yakupov

In the modern day NHL, it is rare that a first overall pick does not pan out the way he is supposed to. In 1993, the Ottawa Senators drafted “superstar-in-the-waiting†Alexandre Daigle with the 1st overall pick. Daigle would only play 9 seasons in the NHL, and would only reach a career high of 51 points. Another infamous bust, 1999’s Patrik Stefan, drafted by the Atlanta Thrahsers, who amassed an embarrassing 188 points through out his career. In 2012, the Mississauga Mavericks drafted Nail Yakupov thought to be the face of their new franchise. Despite being drafted 1st overall, the Mavericks gave Nail Yakupov another year in the OHL. In the second year after the draft, Yakupov failed to cement a role with the Mavericks and was sent down to Charlotte. In the Mavericks 2014-2015 Stanley Cup winning season, Yakupov played a full season, mostly on the Mavericks top line. Still, Yakupov only put up 31 point, and each point was struggle for the Russian who looked frustrated and exhausted on the ice. Still, Kirk Muller was willing to be patient with the prized Russian, until 20 games into this 2015-16 season, Yakupov sat at a measly 3 points with no goals. Toronto media and Mississauga fans who had began to run Yakupov out of town in the latter half of the previous season were in a flow blown witchhunt, criticizing the flustered youngster for being “unengagedâ€, and indeed Yakupov had appeared to begin to give up on himself. GM Julien Brisebois had reached the end of his rope with Yakupov, deciding to cut his losses and ship the Russian to Winnipeg. Yakupov was packaged with fourth liner veteran Ryan Malone and AHL defenseman Keegan Lowe. In return, the Mavericks received gritty winger Victor Oreskovich, young power-forward prospect Austen Brassard, and most importantly, Winnipeg’s 1st round pick in 2016. The Jets currently sit last in the Eastern Conference, so the Mavericks may have a lottery pick in their possession after trading their own 1st in the Sharp deal.

The Mavericks have just begun to work themselves out of what can most definitely defined as a Stanley Cup hangover. After dropping 6 out of their first 10 games, Mississauga has since worked their way back to a respectable record of 11-7-2. In other news, Teuvo Teravainen, who when pointless in a 15 game stint with Mississauga last year, has been called up from Charlotte to replace Nail Yakupov, and Artturi Lehkonen has been sent down in favour of Connor Brown.

So I call up Tervainen and Brown. Sharp goes down for 3 MONTHS! Then Teravainen goes down for 7 weeks! And then Brown goes down for 5 weeks! Absolutely hammered by injuries. Meanwhile, I have Galchenyuk and Staal on my second line, Lehkonen and Perreaux both injured in the AHL. And somehow, I'm 31-13-2 :dunno:

HC Sparta Praha Impresses at Home
Sparta leaves for Tampa with a two nothing lead in the series after an OT win in game 2. Milan Hejduk took center stage as he put up a two goal night. Mike Richards kept up his play as he scored another goal for the team. Yet even with Sparta’s top players still producing the game went into OT after Mason Raymond and Derek Roy put up 2 point nights to keep their team in the game. With 46 seconds left remaining in the first OT, Andy McDonald won a crucial defensive zone face-off and that started a rush which would lead to McDonald passing the puck to Teemu Selanne in the slot and Selanne put in high blocker side on Lightning goalie Kari Lehtonen to win the game

And apparently neither does Milan Hejduk. He scored the second goal of the game, which turned out to be the game winner after Mike Modano tied the game up in the 2nd period. With Kari Lehtonen not being able to produce wins, the Lightning tried to shake things up by starting Josh Harding. Harding fared better than Lehtonen in his first game versus Sparta but couldn’t give the Lightning the win they wanted. Sparta now has a stranglehold on the series with a 3-0 series lead.

Sweep Complete, Who’s Next?
HC Sparta Praha has not only won their first playoff series but swept the Tampa Bay Lightning in convincing fashion. In Game 4 Sparta had their veterans step it up immensely for the win. Sparta’s second line played better than the first line while the 3rd and 4th lines didn’t allow the Lightning players any decent opportunities to take the series to game 5. “I’m proud of the players on the team, they have shown that even a new team can make an impact†HC Sparta Praha GM Czerkawski on sweeping the Tampa Bay Lightning.

“The players stuck to the game plan and Milan Hejduk especially elevated his game for the series. Now we have time to rest a bit before the next series†Sparta Head Coach Dominik Hasek after the game 4 victory.

“I think the slide after the trade deadline really brought us all together more. We realized the pressure of playing over in Europe but we were able to get together as a team before playoffs and work things out. Czech player Elias and Hejduk were definitely vital in getting us through the first round,†Sparta Captain Shea Weber commenting on the series.

And the Next Match Up for HC Sparta Praha is….
The Buffalo Sabres. A rather injury ravaged team who is losing one of their top wingers in Andrew Ladd and Daniel Alfredsson. Yet they are still dangerous as they have a great 1, 2 punch in centre with Henrik Sedin and Claude Giroux. Both players can improve their teammate’s games. Not to mention that you never know who might step up and take control of the series unexpectedly. Sparta had that player in Milan Hejduk against the Tampa Bay Lightning. Who is who’s going to step up this time? Patrick Elias looks like a candidate, he’s been a critical player on that 2nd line for Sparta. Only time will tell as we move to the second round of the NHL playoffs.

Sparta Keeps On Rolling
It took both teams a little bit of time to find their feet in this game. While the Buffalo Sabres had some good chances, Sparta played exceptional defense and then counter-attacked hard in the 3rd period. After Mike Richards nearly lost the puck three times in his own slot, managed to send a pass to a waiting Daniel Briere who then went on a two on one with Shane Doan. Briere got the puck over to Doan who opened up the scoring. A couple shifts later, Elias found a lane in the slot, took the pass from McDonald and managed to squeak one by Bobrovsky.

Alfredsson Sparks Team
The Buffalo Sabres needed a leader to show them the way and Daniel Alfredsson stepped up to the challenge. Coming off an injury Alfredsson came back and provided leadership needed after a 3-0 in the opening game of the series. His comeback allowed the Sabres first line to become deadly once again. HC Sparta Praha just could not get anything going their way in the first two periods. Hejduk and Arnott both hit the iron, which lead to Sabres goals. Patrick Elias though sent a message in the 3rd period with a goal of his own but the hole was too big for Sparta who couldn’t manage to tie the game up.

Tuukka Time!
Can’t get over 20 shots on the other goalie? Don’t worry Tuukka Rask will win the game still. While Buffalo Sabres goalie Sergei Bobrovsky only faced 16 shots, HC Sparta Praha goalie Rask stole the show be facing 36 shots and only letting in two goals. Although this is normally Sparta’s play style, be defensive then counter-attack to score, they don’t usually have a lack of shots on net. Rask though revelled in the challenge, putting on a big smile during post-game interviews when being asked about being the way busier goalie out of the two in the game.

Sparta Take Stranglehold on Series
Going back home, HC Sparta Praha had the chance to use their home ice to take the 3-2 series lead. And they did not fail beating the Buffalo Sabres 4-1. What more can be said about Sparta? Sparta goalie Tuukka Rask had another impressive performance while every line chipped in offensively in some way while playing good defense at the same time. Heading back to Buffalo Sparta can end the series and move on to the Conference Finals.

Comeback Falls Short
With the chance to end the series HC Sparta Praha got off to a bad start. As in being down three goals after the first period. Sparta head coach Dominik Hasek must have said something stirring in the 1st intermission as his team scored two goals in the second period to cut the lead to one. But in the third period the Buffalo Sabres tightened up defensively to preserve the win and force the series to go to a game 7.

Czech-Mate!
HC Sparta Praha is on their way to the Eastern Conference Finals! Both teams came out flying but both goalies were walls in net. Sparta forward Milan Hejduk found his scoring touch again as he opened up the scoring. In the start of the second however, Buffalo Sabres forward Jay McClement lit the lamp to tie the game up. As the game went into OT, both teams were looking to end the game and series quickly but both goalies were not going to let that happen. At the start of the second ovetime, Mike Richards shot into the zone and threw a pass across to Briere who put the puck past Bobrovsky for the win. The fans exploded in a roar as their team won one heck of a game.

“I just had a feeling to go to the next when Richards brought the puck in the zone and the next thing you know I have the puck on my backhand then it’s in the net,†Sparta forward Daniel Briere on his series winning goal.

“You could just tell Mike [Richards] knew something was going to happen before the puck drop by the way he entered the offensive zone and threw the puck towards the net with no hesitation†Sparta Head Coach Dominik Hasek in a post-game interview.

Next Up, the Washington Capitals
HC Sparta Praha has another big task in front of them in the form of the Washington Capitals. The tandem of Loui Eriksson and Travis Zajac have made life difficult for teams in these playoffs so far and the Capitals are expecting Jonas Hiller to continue improving. After a close series versus the Buffalo Sabres where Sparta faced some adversity, Captain Shea Weber believes his team is ready, “the guys showed last series that we can handle anything thrown in our way. We learned from our mistakes and now we’re ready to make a mark on the league in this next series.â€

“The way we’re going to beat the Capitals is the way we’ve done it all playoffs long, scoring from all four lines,†Head Coach Dominik Hasek on the impending series against the Washington Capitals.

Defensive Series?
After two series where scoring was prominent, this one between HC Sparta Praha and the Washington Capitals appears to be taking a turn to where defense shines above all else. Both games so far have been decided scores of 2-1. None of the big scorers have shown up either. Right now it’s looking like a scoring race between Capital David Jones and Spartan Brian Rolston. Send Them Home!
Not wishing to have a repeat from last series, HC Sparta Praha made sure that the Washington Capitals did not get another chance to stay alive. Sparta forwards Mike Richards and Brian Rolston scored quickly to relieve some of the pressure on their teammates. Capitals forward Patrick Marleau tried to get his team back into it but Sheldon Souray answered back quickly. Capitals defenseman Dan Hamhuis cut the lead back down to one but Shea Weber would not allow the Capitals to tie the game up as he out-muscled everyone for the puck and Andy McDonald put the nail in the coffin with an empty net goal.

“I can’t imagine being any more proud of this team then I am now,†HC Sparta General Manager talking after the game, “they came to this team under pressure from everywhere and everyone, now they are the Eastern Conference champs. No matter what happens in the [Stanley Cup] Finals, you can’t take away what this team has done.â€

“What more can anyone say? Rask is the elite goalie we all knew, Weber is the leader we all hoped for, our vets are producing at the right times, and we’re getting scoring from everywhere†Sparta Head Coach Dominik Hasek on being asked to comment on his team’s play.

“The younger players such as Adam [Larsson] and Tuukka [Rask] deserve a lot of credit,†Sparta Defenseman Nicklas Lindstrom, “they have proven that they don’t crack under pressure and they can keep up.â€

Stanley Cup Finals Set to Go
It’s time for the Stanley Cup Finals! Two unexpected teams are set to duel for Stanley Cup, HC Sparta Praha and the Pheonix Coyotes. The Coyotes are out scoring their opponents by wide margins thanks to a trio of Marian Gabrorik, Matt Duchene, and Jordan Leopold. Sparta is getting scoring from everyone and exceptional play from Tuukka Rask.

“We’ve faced tough defenses and goalies before so I’m confident we’ll find a way to win.†Coyotes forward David Backes on the upcoming series.

“We know they have offensive players that can change a series, but we have a wide range of players to score along with Rask. We can’t allow ourselves to abandon our gameplan and try to play like the Coyotes,†Sparta Captain Shea Weber commenting on the Finals.

Want Offense Call on Jamal Mayers…Wait What?!
The Phoenix Coyotes got what they wanted in game 2, an offensive game with tons of scoring chances. Yet they still didn’t win because they couldn’t keep up to HC Sparta’s offensive line of…Jamal Mayers, Brian Rolston, and Jason Arnott. Both Mayers and Rolston had 3 point games while Jason Arnott scored the overtime winner. If you need any more proof that Sparta gets scoring from everywhere, look no further than this game. When Sparta’s best players couldn’t get it down on the powerplay, Sparta defenseman Stephane Robidas waited in his zone as Dominik Hasek sent out the 4th line. As soon as Rolston was on the ice Robidas fired a pass to him then Rolston brought the puck into the offensive zone where Arnott took the pass then fired a shot from the top of the circle bar down for the win.

THIS IS SPARTA!
What a run, what a story, what a series, what a game! Credit to both HC Sparta Praha and the Phoenix Coyotes for a heck of a season. The Coyotes recovered from their beating last game and came out flying in the first with a 3-0 lead heading into the second period. Despite being down by three goals though, the fans were going crazy trying to support their team, telling them they could do it. At the start of the second it didn’t look like they could. Weber decided at that point it was time to live up to the “Câ€. After Sparta forward Jochen Hecht won the face-off in the offensive zone to Milan Hejduk, Hejduk passed it back to Weber who fired an absolute cannon at the net, top corner glove side on Corey Crawford. That was the spark their team needed, that was the captain Shea Weber needed to be. Before the period was up after lots of chances, Czech native Patrick Elias brought his to within one after taking a pass from Teemu Selanne on the rush. Heading off the ice for the 2nd intermission, nothing but “Sparta Sparta Sparta!†chants could be heard.

Both teams we’re pumped up to start the third period. Lots of chances going both ways but both goalies we’re holding strong. Until Bryan McCabe struck. Andy MacDonald won the face-off to defenseman Bryan McCabe who unleashed a bomb of a shot that beat Corey Crawford high blocker side. If you thought the arena was loud any time before this moment, you haven’t heard it like this. You could just see the relief on everyone’s faces on the Sparta bench. The final bit of the 3rd period went on scoreless although there were some close calls for the Coyotes as they almost took back the lead.

Overtime pure chaos. Neither team it seemed wanted it to go on longer than 5 minutes. Every player on both teams was giving it their all. Then Coyotes forward Logan Couture takes a minor penalty for goaltender interference. Hasek must have had a hunch as he sent out Larsson and Souray instead of Weber and McCabe, which is his usual go to D line for powerplays. Once again Andy McDonald won the face-off, this time to Selanne who passed it over to Larsson. Larsson took a couple strides towards the middle of the blue line and fired a shot into traffic. The shot hit Coyotes defenseman Jordan Leopold on the inside of the thigh and then through Crawford’s five-hole.

The rookie had just won the Stanley Cup for the brand new team. Shades of the Colorado Avalanche/Florida Panthers Stanley Cup finals were in this one. A team that was new to its location winning with an overtime goal by a defenseman.

“Before we went on the powerplay, Lindstrom gave me one word of advice, shoot†Sparta defenseman Adam Larsson on scoring the series winning goal.

“It’s an unbelievable feeling right now, Weber really proved to be the captain this team needed. He stepped up to the challenge to get us back into the game and he delivered†Sparta defenseman Nicklas Lindstrom commenting on the comeback.

LindstromwithCup.jpg

“It’s been a great year and I couldn’t imagine being here right now without any of these guys†Sparta Captain Shea Weber

SheaWeberAcceptingCup.jpg

“So proud right now just so proud. These guys deserved every bit of praise they get,†a choked up Maruisz Czerkawski after his team won the Cup.

“They gave all they could and then some. Couldn’t imagine coaching would feel this greatâ€, Head Coach Dominik Hasek.

In case anyone was wondering or just for the record, I play on superstar difficulty with 5 min periods. I only play games when they are going into overtime or if I'm down by a couple goals in a playoff game and need to tie it up.

I feel that when playing on superstar it's almost a 50/50 chance for a win, so that makes up for the some of the none simming.

HC Sparta Praha GM Maruisz Czerkawski on trading for the first overall pick, “We hope Patrick Elias has success with his new team. He was an important part of this years’ run. Just recently at the draft Czerkawski traded three draft picks and Patrick Elias for the 1st overall pick and two bottom six forwards. Now he has to re-sign many of his top players, Shea Weber, Nicklas Lindstrom, and Tuukka Rask. With $37 million in cap space its almost assured he’ll be able to resign those players but will he have enough cap space to fill in the holes especially on the left wing where the only NHL players are Cody Mcleod and Nail Yakupov.

“We had some holes on our left wing that needed to be addressed. We also have a wealth of defensive prospects. Some of them would not have gotten much of a chance on our team so we are hoping that they can have productive careers elsewhere. David Perron fits with the team, a young talented player ready for a first line role,” HC Sparta General Manager Maruisz Czerkawski announcing the trade in a press conference.

Figured id start a new dynasty, i was gonna do a stars one but seeing as Deku Scrub beat me too it ive chosen the New Jersey Devils.

:devils

Coming out of the 2011-2012 off season the New Jersey Devils decided to make a couple of changes, they fired GM Lou Lamoriello and head coach Peter DeBoer. To fill these vacant spots Devils owner Jeffrey Vanderbeek decided to hire young GM Andrew D as the replacement. He would become the youngest GM in NHL history. Andrew D made his first mark on the organization by hiring EX Toronto Marlies Coach, Dallas Eakins, to a 3 year deal.

'I am very exited to be given the opportunity to lead this franchise' Andrew D said in his first press conference with the team, ' Lou did a great job this season getting the team to the Stanley cup finals and giving Marty one last shot at a cup. He also managed to lock Zach Parise along with all our other UFA/RFAs up for one year'

When asked about his plan for the franchise Andrew D replied 'Its no secret we have a aging team, Lou managed to convince both Marty and Hedberg to stay around for another year. I know these guys aren't going to be with the club forever though, its time to rebuild this thing from the ground up. Ive got a 5 year plan for this franchise. Years 1-4 will focus on getting young talent through the draft, by year 5 i feel we will be on the verge of being a playoff team.'

Just curious but does anyone know if theres a link between winning the Stanley Cup and having players retire? If you look at my retired players you'll see I had quite a few, my whole bottom 6 group of forwards in fact. Most of them do retire at this time on the game but Doan usually sticks around for another couple years and I think Smyth does as well and Brodeur is usually gone by now too I'm sure

@roytosakic- Ill warn you now, im not much of a writer. I just do this to keep me interested.

Trade deadline 2013

New Jersey Devils GM admitted he is in a rough spot heading into the NHL trade deadline, the Devils are no longer considered definite sellers with a record of 33-24-5 heading into the trade deadline. 'At the beginning of the year no one expected us to be here' Admitted GM Andrew D, 'The team has played through adversity as we have suffered an abnormally high amount of injury's. Our defense core has been completely depleted at times. This being said, it doesn't change our plan. I dont intend to sacrifice our future just to make one last run. Expect some moves.'

To NJ:
A. Johnson, 2012 6th round pick (Clb)
To Clb:
C. Jansson

Overall, it was a disappointing trade deadline for NJ Devil fans. The demand wasn't their for what they had to offer said Andrew D. The lone deal made was sending grinding winger Cam Jansson to the Blue Jackets for dman Aaron Johnson and a 2012 6th round pick. Jansson was expendable after the decent play of Petr Sykora. One name that kept popping up in trade rumors was young Detroit Red Wings prospect Tomas Jurco, expect the Devils to make a big push for him at the NHL draft.

Is anyone gonna make updated post-draft rosters on here or OS? Just wondering, as I want to know if I'll just wait until 2013 to start a new BAGM.

Is it on OS or anything like that, or do you have a link to the DL file? I just don't have the time, and I can't do it right now, since I'm on vacation.
