I had the same thought on the run. Seemed like a really bad idea. Maybe it's an incomplete pass and Rams get a sack on 2nd down anyway, putting them even further behind the sticks, but every play at that point in the game should have the goal of getting a 1st down, and it led to putting Maye in a position where he was going to have to force it.
It was a prayer from Maye but ya i am questioning why the receiver is running all the way down the field when you need 13. It was also 3rd down so Maye could have played for 4th.

He refused to sign an extension with NE and he wasn't going to play without a new deal. That's why NE didn't trade for him. You can keep trying to twist it how you want to fit your narrative, but the Patriots were willing to pay the marquee WR's this off-season and they wouldn't come here because of the QB situation.

I'm not spinning anything. No FA has walked away from the top deal on the market. They offered the most money to guys like Henry and Judon, and they signed with them. It's really not hard. The Aiyuk situation is extremely different than a FA. He was looking for an extension and demanded a trade or holdout till he got his contract. He used the Patriots for leverage. How was it that they where somehow going to blow away Ayiuk with an extension, but come up short on Ridley when that fell through? It's a convient excuse for Kraft to go after a guy that was never leaving his team to begin with. When they had a guy in the open market that had no team and had to sign somewhere, they came up short.
They've been bottom of the league in spending for years now. That's unacceptable, plain and simple.
