It sounds much more impressive on the scoresheet. He basically turtled after running into the goalie , but Lowe and Sutter jumped in to his defense right away which we wouldn't see with the Canes.

That was my thought also, By that point it appears they already had 4 prior fights in the 3rd period so were probably trying (unsuccessfully) to control things.

That's a horrible call by the ref anyway. Boychuk had every right to skate in his lane that far from the crease, and the goaltender leaped out in front of him to jab at the puck. That's nothing more than incidental contact, and it's far enough from the crease that there's really not an excuse for getting it wrong.

But even given a differing opinion on that penalty, how in the world does Brace not get an instigator for grabbing Boychuk and just punching him right in the head? It's ludicrous that the Wild came out of that sequence with a power play.
