Marner didn't get "a few" Selke votes, he finished 3rd. Come on let's be fair.

Also, anyone with eyes knows he's an excellent PKer. Berube is literally double shifting him some PKs this year, he's our best forward ainec. We don't have to downplay his attributes. He's a stud PKer and one of the best defensive forwards in the game. Stick to wilting in the playoffs and being too fancy at times, that's where reality lives.
How long ago was that? Last year he got 6 out of 970 votes, including 1 first (out of 194). Come on let's be fair.

If Marner were to get more than Nylander amd I were Nylander, I would feel under appreciated and that's weird to say considering they are all overpaid now as is.
That's making the assumption that Marner and Nylander have tracked similarly pointswise for the entire length of their contracts, as opposed to the last two years only.

Funny how this rule applies to Marner and no one else on this team...
It applied to AM, Willie, JT and even Reilly.

The difference is that, those four mentioned didn't have a group of diehard fans or security to defend them, thus the discussions didn't last long.

Lets trade him for Dahlin. Just for the fun of watching who will be thriving the most in the new environment. Seems like almost the same love hate ratio between fans. The 4 fans of Buffalo and our 4mill.

On the contrary imo. The Marner hate is still ongoing because of a few diehards that still won't shut up about his playoff performance no matter how well he's playing right now.

One guy in particular went as far as bringing up Marner not producing 5 on 5 in a game ythat JUST finished where he scored the game tying goal on the PP and assisting on the GWG because it was 3.on 3 in OT.

The hate has completely blinded some.

If Matthews was carrying Marner at 5v5 like you try to say, tell me why he didn't producing more than Marner/60 in last 6 year considerating marner played much more time in any defensive situation than matthews.

Again,i don't know where MATTHEWS stats have to do with Marner. Even without Matthews marner was producing at same rate. For me the only thing that showing is both are able to play at high level even if they dont play together...

and get easier matchup just help Matthews to boost his stats especially against bottom team but not necessairly the case against good team. Should be extremely interesting to see the same kind of stats against contender team, i'm pretty sure you would be extremely surprise of stats you would find.
Lol....very easy to explain:

why did you choose the last 6 years? Why not last 5? Because you are well aware Matthews had more p/60 5v5 the last 5 years but that 6th year (2019) hurt his stats.

Because his linemates were absolute garbage.

Matthews linemates:
509 mins with two of these three Johnsson, Marleau and Kapanen

Meanwhile

Marners linemates: 809 mins with Tavares and Hyman.

Tavares was so good in 2019 that he received 7 votes for the Hart, good enough for 17th. Marner didn't get any.

Lol and you Marner fans are accusing others of "cherry picking?

Being more physical and engaging more towards the dirty areas (like he used to) is the difference people have been waiting for from Marner.

And the speculation has been - amongst a number of us - that a different (i.e. firmer) coach might make help him return to form.

Regarding Marner's inconsistencies, that's the crux of previous criticism and present praise.

I'm missing the point (and Antropov's for liking it) you're trying to make.
Basically don’t sing praises til we see the playoffs

You ever notice Marner talking about keeping it light and fun.

I can't believe a professional hockey player earning millions of dollars would say this. Like he's some fat retired old man playing in a beer league. To Mitch it's all about not stressing and just having fun.

Winning is only a secondary consideration at best.

A far cry from the philosophy of real champions. There's a difference between the mindset Marner has and the mindset players like Messier, Yzerman, and Trottier possessed. If asked why they played fun would not be their answer.

So hard to believe it was just a few short years ago I still thought this team was gonna win the cup.

The sad thing is the first time I said that was a few years ago. It's no longer been a "few short years". It's now been years since I thought this team was gonna win a cup... period.

And with players like Marner who don't have a problem with losing around it's easy to see why.
