This drives me crazy if im listening to a radio feed....it's already a massive difference listening to DD rather than RJ for the Sabres now. Tell me what's happening on the ice you are a play-by-play announcer not a storyteller.
But...but...DD will tell you which team is going left to right. That has to be for the radio listeners! :sarcasm:

Seriously though, i don't mind DD but he is so vanilla. There is nothing exciting or distinctive about his calls.

That's not necessarily a bad thing though.

Sometimes distinctive is bad.....like Dave Mishkin calling a Tampa goal, or Joe Bowen whenever the Leafs do something right.

RJ fell into that mold as well, just so over the top and emotional that for some it kind of distracts from the overall performance.

There is a reason why fans love their team's broadcast guys. RJ was the GOAT in my book. I bet tampa fans think that Mishkin is the GOAT - he is certainly the GOAT at elevating his voice several octaves.

I keep parsing this thread title as "New Jack" Edwards controversy, as in the 1991 movie "New Jack City".

I would watch a gritty hockey movie titled "New Jack Edwards".
I thought news came out that New Jack stabbed another ***** named Edwards before he passed.
RIP Jerome.

Good for Jack having humility to at least attempt to atone. The willingness to apologize is more important than if you get a good response. Easy to apologize when you know the other guy will be all good.
I must agree. I think the fact that he went to him for a face to face rather than say some canned apology on air before the game is worth something. And I am in no way shape or form a Jack Edwards fan.

This. He handled it man-to-man as it should be. The apology is obligatory, forgiveness is not.

Didn't he give his infos to Tampa's people if Pat wanted to talk to him at first? That's pretty shitty, should've go directly to him instead. But maybe I'm mixing stories here...

The circumstantial evidence here (giving his contact info to the Tampa staff, finding Maroon in person) would suggest that he didn't have a direct connection to Pat, like a phone number or email.

I’ve seen two sides of Jack Edwards. I think it’s all an act on air. But it’s like he doesn’t realize people can hear him.

Agreed. He's still a terrible commentator but seems like a stand up guy.
My sentiments exactly.
