I didn’t start the thread with tweets from some random Bruins haters. Two of the league Insiders and a notable agent leveled some heavy criticism at him. Calling that clickbait is total nonsense. Your butthurt is misplaced here.

At the bare minimum it’s terrible broadcasting. You have a senile old man rambling about another man’s weight during a hockey game when the puck switched zones 5 times and all Jack edwards can do is talk about how a man he doesn’t know, is fat.

Call the damn game and if you are incapable of doing that just shut up and try to be professional. Unfortunately he’s proven he’s been incapable of doing that his entire career.

Jack Edwards should know better though. If you're going to talk trash, it's supposed to be concise and funny. A 40 second riff where he stumbles over his words to call a guy fat is just lousy broadcasting. And generally, if you're going to razz someone for something like that, even if they're cool with it, you want them there so they can be in on the joke. Yukking it up from the broadcast booth when you're already known around the league as an asshole makes it sound like you're talking smack. Jokes on sensitive issues only really work when there's an element of trust. Edwards does not have that trust, the jokes were not well told and therefore not funny, and Maroon wasn't there to be in on the joke.

It wouldn't be unreasonable for Edwards to apologize because the jokes were in poor taste. But to drag him for fat shaming? Meh, it was just a lousy segment from a guy who's said far, far worse.
