Fair enough. I guess I dont' really get the issue. He's a pro athlete in the most competitive hockey league in the world, making millions of dollars, and he's overweight. Edwards made some stupid joke about eating pizzas and then commended him on 3 cups. Whatever

I’m woefully tired of Jack.

His schtick was amusing for a while and I was always entertained by how virulently hated he was by fans of other franchises. But I feel like it’s time to turn the page.

It’s not that I think this current controversy deserves the oxygen it’s getting ( while noting body shaming is absolutely a serious issue… but I don’t see the kind of nastiness in his commentary that normally should induce the vitriol he’s getting from this) but I think I’m just exhausted by him. And while, no he’s not Don Cherry, he’s absolutely going to say something that will require more damage control than he’s worth.

I think his frenetic stream-of-consciousness style is fun when it works but more often than I would prefer, devolves into play by play that teeters on the brink of calamity.

Good on Maroon for turning a nothing-burger of an insult into positive social action. I’ll be donating.

He's always been a weird geek, but from the moment he started at NESN, he was an exponential improvement.

Age or medication or head trauma has clearly affected him, but none of the oh so offended care about that. You're still entirely not upset at all about a fight he called biasedly in favor of a Bruin eight seasons ago or something equally petty.

These are Bruins broadcasts on a regional network. If we had any hope whatsoever of a potential replacement picked by NESN to be not a complete gong show, we'd probably have not paid an ounce of attention to how NESN has been run the past decade. Besides, the new guy/gal/Vtuber they come up with will probably get brain damaged from broadcasting away games from a Watertown broom closet filled with leaking turpentine cans.

I agree. Edwards is an immature goof, but the tweets were more cringe to me than his comments. Pat Maroon is already a legend, I'm sure he'll be fine.

I think it’s a goofy reason to start a thread. Since I’m free speech guy, I’ll make my opinion known. If that offends you somehow, well you’re just going to have to be offended and learn how to get past it. It’s okay you will survive. Being offended is not a terminal illness nor is it an illegal offense. Fat balloon donated 2k to a non profit in Tampa under jacks name so I’m pretty sure his panties weren’t in a bind over it.

First time I’ve heard Matt Cooke described as “a bit dirty”

He intentionally caused significant brain trauma to one of our city’s favorite athletes. Jack wasn’t half as pissed as the city was. I called him much worse.

I didn’t start the thread with tweets from some random Bruins haters. Two of the league Insiders and a notable agent leveled some heavy criticism at him. Calling that clickbait is total nonsense. Your butthurt is misplaced here.

Pro athletes get “fat shamed” all the time. Like all the time. They are literally in the industry of maintaining their bodies at top performance, so any time one of them seems fat they’re going to get talked about. This is not like calling out random people on the street for their body types. Bunch of nothing here.

Does it make it right? It was not just talked about it was mocked for laughs.
