The Rangers certainly played like they didn't want Gallant fired in the 3rd period lol

I don't really think that had anything to do with it is was more pro athletes finally showing some balls guts and pride, but they could have easily mailed it in if they actively wanted the guy axed.

Atleast they played for themselves, their teammates, the franchise and the coach and their goalie or whatever the hell else instead of packing up and mailing it in the final 20. Shows maybe not all hope is lost even if it was against the St Louis Blues and Binnington.

Not a convincing win or a good game or not that it changes anything, just trying not to be totally negative here in my assesssment

Thought trouba had a good game too

They actually need this stretch coming up. They need a run against big boy teams here think it’ll be good for them

Miller getting that goal is big he needed that.

I don’t even know what else to say about kakko. Needs to check for a pentagram under his bed
Trouba and Miller were +2

Fox and Lindgren were -2. It did not help them that 2 goals went in our net off of Fox.

Crazy mess of first 2 periods. Horrendous officiating. Shesty still sucks LOL.
3rd period......team played with heart it started to feel like last year that you knew they were going to find a way to win.
AND FOLKS.................We may have a captain finally.
3 stars.....1) Jacob "Captain Helmet" Trouba
2) Vincent Trocheck
3) K' Andre Miller
Hon mention to the player I hate most on this team Artemi "shockingly looked like he actually cared at times" Panarin.
Lots of talk in another thread that the room is divided. If so I hope this brings them together.

Almost forgot….

Trouba had his best season as a Ranger last year when he was a physical presence. Maybe the Chicago game will be his turning point because clearly his helmet throw didn't help the team in the rest of that game or the first 2 periods of this one. But maybe it helped him and we can get back to the way he was very early in this season and last season.

Maybe these new lines can spark something over the next 4 games. We have forgone 8 points in 5 games against 5 of the worst 7 teams in the league, going 0-3-2. We need to even the scales by going 3-0-1 or 4-0-0 over these next 4 games. Tough position to put yourself in against the next 4 teams, but these did it to themselves after the last month of crappy play.

They really need to build on that 3rd period and get a winning streak together. Would be soul crushing and confidence defeating to sputter against COL, TOR, VGK and NJ. Need confidence builidng games, wins and points here.

Trouba had a great game. Miller was good too but Trouba looked like a Captain tonight and he sure as hell did the last game.

It’s wild that Buchnevich has become the Blues best player. Good for him. That trade was a calculated risk and it had the worst possible outcome. The kids didn’t develop quick enough to make it pay off and Slewban ruining Blais’ career was icing on the cake.

It’s wild our return is the 2022 version of Jody Hull .

This is where Gallant needs to put his foot down with these guys. They play with who he tells them to play with.

Kreider still made a big play with that short handed goal. These guys need to play for the team, not just themselves and their buddies.
Mika and Kreider are perfectly fine playing on the PK together.

It’s really not all that wild. Everyone knew the moment it was announced that trade was an L for the Rangers

But this is what the Rangers do. They spend years developing talent only to trade it away for peanuts and have said talent hit their potential elsewhere

Finally won a game and finally showed some emotion in the third and started playing instead of watching themselves.

Gonna need to go somewhere in the neighborhood of 36-19 to make the playoffs. Need to go on a run at some point.

The guy sulks every time things don't go his way. As long as he's getting 50 PP minutes with Kreider he's fine. Guy doesn't have an ounce of leadership or intensity in him.
Zibanejad is definitely very introspective and hard on himself but that’s not what you said, you said he’s a selfish me first player that only cares about himself. That’s not true.

He sulks when the team loses because he cares about the team. He’s over a point per game and having a good statistical season personally and yet he’s sulking and depresssed after every loss. That’s not a selfish me first player. He doesn’t care that he’s scoring and racking up points when the team is losing.
