I definitely wouldn’t say it fixed all things but winning with the kids leading the way shows a way forward out of this mess
Fail or succeed this team needs to run with Kakko and Laf getting big responsibilities. If they can’t hack it at least then we know. If they can then that’s the ticket to a better team

Yep. And three and four years into their careers, there no reason to shield them any longer. Challenge them. Give them some leash, but they need to sink or swim at some point.

I get your point, but it's a little too soon for all the victory laps you've taken tonight. The criticism of the kids has been valid.

Not everyone wants to trade them, but we all want them to play better than they have. Kakko at some point needs to start showing dividends for all his hard work. Bottom line is the team needs these kids to produce, showing potential isn't enough anymore.
They need to play to produce….that means playing them through their growing pains. That is why you see stutzle and zegras producing like they do

He does stuff like that every game, but with the turning radius of a barge. I'm glad other people are finally starting to speak up about it though. It's been infuriating watching this kind of crap the last 10 games, but if he gets a shot off, it's always "oh well at least he shoots the puck" or "but his defense though" or "but he plays with grit."

Every time he gets a cross ice pass, he insists on cradling the puck or going backhand-forehand rather than just snapping it on the fly.

And every two on one, he takes an idiotic route where if he's the player without the puck, there's never a passing lane, and if he's the player with it, he skates himself to a bad shooting angle, the D takes away the pass (as is their job), and he sends a fadeaway wrister right into the goalie's chest.

These are the reasons he can't be on the top line, like, ever.
Yeah, all of this is true. Vesey has very real limitations as a player. He's worked himself into a solid defensively bottom 6 player and that's where he should be. He's fine on the 3rd or 4th line. Playing him in the top 6 not only does a disservice to that line and the team as a whole but also a disservice to Vesey himself who isn't being used in a position that suits him and will let him be effective.

Agreed, I think everyone is aware of that. So maybe tone down your rhetoric & save some of that rancor you were releasing in the GDT for fans of the other teams who come waltzing in here often enough. Truth is one game doesn't mean that everything is right in Rangerland & that these kids suddenly aren't a disappointment anymore.

It never made sense to me to not keep them in the top 6 playing with Mika and/or Panarin. The veterans are going to get their PP1 one time so the kids should absolutely be getting top 6 5v5 minutes, both for their development and for the jolt of energy in the top 6. If PP1 is stale and not going well and you have all through forwards playing together at 5v5 they're going to be staler, frustrated and worn out in those minutes. Idk why it took so long for Gallant to try this line in particular but not to go back to having Kakko and Lafreniere in the top 6 at all, especially because it was working early in the season. They were snakebit early but those lines were generating a ton. Once he took them out of the top 6 is when the 5v5 play started to dip.

Nah I’ll keep doing what I’m doing but thanks for the heads up

Side note I don’t think after one game everything is alright but between the idiots on here claiming our kids are busts and the fact that some of us have been calling for us to play the kids 16-18 minutes and getting told they haven’t “earned” that time im getting fed up listening to the immature idiots.

The whole lineup hasn’t earned those minutes but I’d rather laf and kakko get those minutes over Jimmy f***ing vesey (who I love btw and I’m glad he earned a spot)

He is a fine depth player but you are absolutely correct.

Glad we won a game.

Glad we put Kakko and Laf with Zib. We need to keep them there even if it means we miss the playoffs. Even if they don’t score they become a unit that is hard to score against, which is something to settle for at this point.

I said during the first period key to the game was shots with guys in front and literally 5 of 6 were scored that way. But I mean Binnington was horrific. I think we literally scored on every single screen shot. And if there was a team in the league that is worse than the Rangers at owning the slot, it’s The Blues.

We won scoring the kinds of goals that we usually give up. The only two games we’ve won in this horrific stretch were games where we scored all of our goals the same way. Shots from the point that get tipped or screened. It’s basic but it works. (It’ll work far less against teams that focus on taking that away, but still it’s almost impossible to score on most NHL goalies if they can see the shot.)

Our game continues to be far too imperfect to pull off wins against many of the upcoming teams. We were downright soft and lazy for two periods. But who knows? Maybe this is a spark that reminds the team to keep it simple.

Brodzinskis speed was fairly effective against the Blues but not sure that line as a whole seemed as effective.

Third period saved the season but the team is not where it needs to be. They are saying the right things now though( playing simple, doing what they do well and needing to tighten up defensively.)

Shesty has to be better as do multiple other guys— Mica before the line shakeup was terribly bad, Panarian doing his best Houdini most nights- but overall I think some important strides were made in the third period.

If the team can start making some luck and scoring some ugly goals, the lanes open up for the pretty goals too.
As Gallant has been saying, they need to keep it simple. And today they did. Hopefully they learn an important lesson.
Maybe most encouraging is that Panarin and Mika both looked to be trying to keep it simple too. As they go, the team goes.

I missed the first and second period last night, only caught the third.

The season is 100% fixed and they will win the Stanley Cup now, yes?
