I hope that Drouin can handle the pressure of being a French Canadian star playing for Montreal. It sure would be nice to have a star forward perhaps even a top 10 point getter in the league someday.

I wouldn't be surprised if Drouin has a real breakout year this season. With a lot of ice time I can see him get to 70-75 pts and maybe even top 10 nhl scoring. I have a feeling this trade gonna be a steal in a few years.

Top 10 in scoring i don't know but i certainly think Drouin upside is at worst a yearly 70pts guy which ain't too shabby.

Now we just need a top center for him to play with. Hopefully Galchenyuk will become that guy because Danault and Plekanec won,t cut it

Could be the same with Galchenyuk
Before his injury, he was top-10 or maybe top-12.

His injury certainly did not help but he still manged to get a pace of 59 points.

If Galchenyuk, Pacioretty and Drouin all get 70 points (or at least 65+) we will have a lot of offense.

But it could be also that they all have 60+ points while we have 7 more players getting 32/35+ points.

A lot of players will come back with a lot of confidence: Lehkonen, Danault, Byron.

If we can roll three good offensive lines with 110 points, 150 points and 190 points we will have scary offense.

Then there is at least one wild card: Hudon.

And Plekanec is going to be on a contract year so I expect at least 40 points from him even if he has less PP.
In 2015-16 he had 41 EVP and the previous year he had 40 but in both years but he was playing with Pacioretty and Gallagher.
We can still keep them together and have a line: Lehkonen - Danault - Drouin.
Last year, he played with Byron and Gallagher and with Lehkonen and Byron.

We will see. For all we know, Hudon could end up in top-6.

It's all right if Sergachev has a successful career at TB. The Habs will get the beneficial effects of Drouin's presence a lot sooner. It's been awhile since they've had so many talented forwards still in their prime. It's well to remember that Radulov and Plekanec are already in their 30s. I'm anticipating a good showing by Lehkonen and perhaps Galchenyuk as well. I also hope Poehlert becomes a regular.

As for Charles Hudon, I have higher hopes for Antoine Waked even though I've never seen him play. I like his name. It reminds me of Wachet auf, ruft uns die Stimme(Sleepers wake), a cantata by Johann Sebastian Bach.

You just had to go full bougie huh

Never go full bougie

Hahaha im just kidding

'upside at worst' ?

For sure. But to be honest I don't see Sergachev living up to the hype at all.

My fear:
-Markov doesn't re-sign
-Alzner/Schlemko/Jerabek prove to not be able to play with Weber
-None of Mete/Walford/Tyzska/Staum becomes a top pair LD

No top LD for years unless we overpay in FA

To be fair the Habs didn't have a top LD last season either. Weber had to play with Emelin FFS. Markov performed admirably but he was still just a 2nd pairing guy on other teams. A good #3.

I just watched this kid's highlight real. He has some SERIOUS game breaker talent! I think the Habs are going to be very happy with Drouin. His stickhandling and skating ability together is some of the most fluid I have seen. He has a great shot and amazing playmaking skills. I'm sure his defensive capabilities aren't great, but this kid has immense upside and can drive offensive play.

Weber made Emelin look like a first pair guy for 60 games last year.

Alzner is better than Emelin.

If Emelin was good enough to play with Weber for 3/4 of the season then I have no doubt one of those guys could do the job.

Got a link? Also what position was he playing?

Except Emelin didn't make it an awesome 1st pair. When at his best, he made it as an okay first pair.

Weber weakness are skating, creativeness and passing abilities. Unless Jerabek booms, we have no one that fills at least 2 of those.

Webers skating is fine. We have to stop with this myth.

It's fine, but not elite tier, just like his creativeness and passing abilities. Ideally, he needs a fast skating creative passer partner to be at his best.

That pair was solid till Emelin's game fell off a cliff.

Jerabek, Schlemko and even Morrow can skate and move the puck. One of them will get the job IMO if we don't acquire someone or Markov's not back.

Maybe MB won the battle with this trade and maybe not. It'll only be decided in the next decade. I suspect at best it'll be a push.

But what I do know is that he definitely lost the war. We went into the off season needing ideally two top six centers - realistically one top six was possible. We had one blue chip to make that happen and it was squandered on a position we were fairly strong.

This trade was not a steal. It was not even a hockey move. It was a PR move.

Do you really think the Habs could of gotten a #1C for Sergachev alone?

I'll assume not...so this lazy narrative that everyone keeps repeating about "using our best prospect to fill a position we didn't need" is just that.

Lazy

I don't think he said a 1 for 1 trade rather Sergachev++

Well unless he knows what that ++ would have been, it doesn't lend much credence to his argument either.

What if the cost was Sergachev + Galchenyuk + 1st round pick.

???

Just sick or seeing people trying to minimize this trade...

If it isn't that lay argument, it's the Radulov angle.

Although no trades are unanimous, this one should come as close as possible for Habs fans.

We added a 22yr old core forward who is arguably already our 2nd best forward for a PROSPECT.

A player who wasn't on our roster this past year and likely was 2-3yrs away from being a major contributor to the roster moving forward.

You despise Bergevin and love this trade simultaneously fellas...it's ok
