If I was a leafs fan, I'd be annoyed by what Reilly did. You appreciate the emotion to some degree but Reilly could have reacted poorly in a number of other ways and not be suspended.

He chose the way that got another player suspended for 6 games for doing the same thing so was foolish to say the least.

I agree.

Though on the other hand, witnessing this already devastated defense without Mo is going to be a majestic sight.

If we win a game I'll be astonished.

Time to see what our AHL defense is made of.

But he didn't. You act like it's the end of the world.
Not at all. I act like I feel Rielly should be given a nice long suspension. And he will.

I have no horse in the race, I just find it funny the lengths some of the Leafs fans go to to try and justify it. Now that they know its not working, out come the ‘poor us, the world is against us’ pity parties.

End of the world? No. Funny and entertaining, watching the range of emotions from a fan base to try and justify a moronic attempt at toughness? Yes.

Well said. Really sums up this thread succinctly. Some can’t see issues like this in the broader context beyond cheering for the home team.

I'm a PhD from a top five university in the world, but YMMV, lol.

Your inability to understand the basic distinction between calculated and spontaneous actions and why, other things being equal, the former is considered more serious than the latter, is where things seem to be getting messy. Your argument implies that accidents without calculation should be punished the same as calculated, intentional acts. It's nonsense, the proof being found in... every single legal code in the world.

lol. PhD.

This is hockey and not the real world. Lol. If it was the real world, Perros would not be responsible for the DOPs.

As example, the high stick rule is fairly black and white in its application. Cross checks to the head should be the same. This is what I am arguing for.

No problem with what Rielly did.

Will it affect the Leafs playoff hopes? Probably not. No one ever cares what the Leafs do in the regular season anyway.

At the end of the day Greig thought he was going to piss off the Leafs at the end of the game and laugh about it. He took a unsuspecting crosscheck to the face for his actions.

Maybe if the Leafs and Senators were competing for a playoff spot or it happened in a playoff game it would mean more to the Leafs. The Senators have already eliminated themselves from playoff contention so not that it matters for either team.

WC1 would be ideal for the Leafs but I think they'll finish top 3 in the Atlantic. Unless the Leafs win the Atlantic, they'll have a tough opponent no matter where they finish.

Youre the goof if this isnt satire
Listen, the kid is pest, I get it. Fact of the matter is he went too far in an emotional game for the sens. He’ll learn from it. Ottawa will be better when he picks his spots better. Guarantee he’s already been told by Giroux, Brady, Jacques or Staios to toe the line in that situation.

Imagine trying to claim it's not a headshot because the other player desperately tries to brace for it at the last second and manages to get his hand up.
you can see Rielly is aiming chest

Could've fooled me.
