If the act is what is punishable, do you agree that all cross checks to the head are punishable. There should be no proviso for “occurred during the play”.
Of course there should be. Any blatant attempt to injure should be dealt with harshly. A lot more so if it is done a good while after play was blown dead, on an unsuspecting player from behind, with a weapon with the game over and done with.

yes it's a victim complex when Sens fans admit they are trolling lol. When was the last time you got to cheer for your team instead of against another to enjoy hockey?
That a hard question... I love the Sens but I really hate the leafs.

When they get on a team flight I root for gravity. When they are on a team bus I root for oncoming traffic.

If I was given a wish to either guarantee a Sens playoff win or a leafs playoff loss, what would I do?

Trick question, leafs will lose in the 1st round on their own.

Intent to injure lol you think Rielly was trying to decapitate him or something? People gotta chill throwing that phrase around. Make it hurt sure but I don't think Rielly was trying to send him to the IR

lol. So it is acceptable to cross check anyone in the head so long as it is part of the game or within the flow of the game? What part of the question you don’t understand? Lol
Who said it was. All you are doing is attempting to engage in a straw man argument with people.

The context of a situation ALWAYS matters. Both in life and in sports.

You are slow.

I’m not condoning MO’s action. I believe he should punished severely. What I am saying is head shots are head shots regardless of when they occur.

They all could cause severe injury regardless of intent. And it is precisely this lack of consistency and understanding of what is acceptable or not is what causing players to use the cross check to the head.

Make the offense black and white nobody will think twice about doing it.
I'm a PhD from a top five university in the world, but YMMV, lol.

Your inability to understand the basic distinction between calculated and spontaneous actions and why, other things being equal, the former is considered more serious than the latter, is where things seem to be getting messy. Your argument implies that accidents without calculation should be punished the same as calculated, intentional acts. It's nonsense, the proof being found in... every single legal code in the world.

from behind? what?

with a weapon? Was it the candlestick, the wrench or the lead pipe perhaps?

He could of easily broke his jaw, and in fact made no attempt not to by deciding to take a hockey stick and two handing it into the side of his head. I call that ‘attempt to injure’. What do you cal it?

In my opinion the context does not matter as it relates to crosshecks to the head. A player has full control of his stick. And this goes for any player.

He is fully responsible for where it goes. Mo should have cross checked him to ribs but not to head.

You mean taking the side of punishing dangerous plays?
It’s something when Leaf fans are defending this when you know what the reaction would be if Rielly was the victim. 😆
No one is getting suspended for doing that to Rielly.

Do you know how hard it is to get suspended for some kind of action on a Leafs player?

I kid you not Simmonds got crosschecked in the face proper twice from two different players with a couple of seconds. And there wasn't even a penalty.

Getting suspended for doing that to Reilly? Have a day off.

If I was a leafs fan, I'd be annoyed by what Reilly did. You appreciate the emotion to some degree but Reilly could have reacted poorly in a number of other ways and not be suspended.

He chose the way that got another player suspended for 6 games for doing the same thing so was foolish to say the least.

But he didn't. You act like it's the end of the world.

Yeah I’m not going to engage with a charter member of the victim club. There’s a few fans in every fanbase who feel Dops is out to get them.
