Marner deserves to be trashed, his performance was ragged, his contract looks ridiculous at this moment. Also true, it’s isn’t all on him and I’m finding him a shield to some other real issues here.

The Marner Defenders are coming out. Thought they would come out sooner.

Honestly, AM and Marner both didn’t play well and not only did they didn’t hit that extra gear for playoffs, they hit the reverse gear.
Keefe did bad too with his coaching decision and PP.

One thing I would say is that both AM and Marner played bad but how come most fans and even medias are talking about trading Marner and not AM.
Somehow he gets a free pass

No, its because it would beyond stupid to trade both. Which would you rather trade: Marner or Matthews?

Easily Marner.[/QUOTE Matthew should be put on alert I can’t believe there’s another protest where they’re saying the fans or the whole problem I didn’t cry for the paycheque junior mint did

Frankly, given the revelations about Marner dictating his terms on the PP and the fact that his camp has pretty much been a massive thorn since the beginning... if you don't find a good trade and are going to be keeping him, I think it's time to strip him of the A and give him an ultimatum:

"It's your dad/camp, or it's the Leafs. Pick one. If you pick the Leafs, we'll give you all the support and counsellors/sports psychologists in the world in case you need anyone to talk to. But you need to pick one."

I don't think Dubas has the balls to do it, but we shall see.

Marner's game will never translate in the playoffs.

He can't shoot.

And he was unable to carry the puck this playoffs.

Until he grows some balls, I agree with you 100%. My issue with Marner has always been that he thinks he's still playing in juniors. I'll be the first to welcome Marner back if he actually comes back next season with some real maturity in his game, his development and his playing.

I wonder if they’ll disclose Marners injury.
Is there an end of season press conference called yet?

Dubas would rather go down himself than trade Marner

No one was complaining about Hyman being on the top line when he was pacing ~60 points in the regular season while being an absolute workhorse along the boards. Why are we treating the playoffs like its a whole different sport for the Leafs here and not do the same for all these other teams? At the end of the day, the Leafs regular season record was comparable to Pitt, Carolina, Vegas and all those other teams, with Marner outscoring many of these teams top line players. But why is it only the Leafs that has such a huge discrepency between their regular season and post season? And why should we not call it what it is, choking?

And no the blame should be pass all around and in this case, Matthews is just as much to blame as Marner, AM paced for like 60+ goals this season, but only scored 1 goal in 7 games against the Habs, the same team he torched during the regular season, its not like Shea Weber drunk the fountain of youth here and shaved off 10 years of his age, this was the same team and much like the CBJ series, the offence choked hard.

I've lost track of who I've been discussing this with but it started as all Marners fault and now it's "the offence choked hard". It should be pointed out that if the offense gets more goal the series is over after 5.

It would be a long discussion as to why our stars get less points in the playoffs than some of our fans expect. But this shouldn't have been a surprise. It's clearly your expectations as this is the 5th year in a row. I think that it's pretty clear the Leafs Nation has to limit it's expectations.

Kid talking now. Sounds like he cares. Says pretty shitty feeling not accomplishing what we wanted to accomplish. Says the not wanting to move on the PP is a lie.

Listening to Marners presser now ... I honestly think it would be better for him and the leafs for him to move on to another market... You can hear in his voice the pressure has built to a point where he cant perform to his optimum level - This market is not the place for him and its not going to get any easier.

Bottom Line - I think he would welcome a trade.
