We're insane if we think we'll hear anything other than

1. We believe in this group
2. Need to be better
3. Some changes coming with flat cap and lots of FAs
4. Long summer ahead

"We'll sit down and do a full evaluation"
"We're not happy with how the season ended but we believe in this group"
And then he'll defend Marner b/c he can do no wrong

The more I think about it, the more I realize any trade we make involving Marner is a trade that we lose

I’m still beyond pissed, but I can’t think of a trade I like outside of Eichel,

What's your definition of a win? The goal isn't to get a better player, it's to make a better team.

You shouldn't be shooting for a top 5 scorer, you need to look at a younger asset, some harder and more uptempo player(s) and ideally a shooting threats.

Probably. It's the expected outcome from a pure value standpoint.

The cap relief + a good player is how you should think of it - IE : If you trade for Picks + High end prospects and use the 11 mill to add 2-3 good players then the franchise is ahead of the game in the long run ... We don't have a window with this core - face it !

The Marner Defenders are coming out. Thought they would come out sooner.

Honestly, AM and Marner both didn’t play well and not only did they didn’t hit that extra gear for playoffs, they hit the reverse gear.
Keefe did bad too with his coaching decision and PP.

One thing I would say is that both AM and Marner played bad but how come most fans and even medias are talking about trading Marner and not AM.

AM is a center, wins faceoffs, can hit take a hit, has an amazing shot, has size, can pass, isnt a coward, goes to the net, can win puck battles both in front and behind the net, take stupid cowardly penalties?

Yeah I don't mind losing a few trades if the end result is we win the cup.

As far as losing a Marner trade goes, man that's hard to judge. If he remains a guy who puts up points during the regular season but when the going gets tough, he disappears then what's his true worth to a team that has cup aspirations? Maybe he's worth more to a team that isn't winning anyway so they have other goals but I want to win the cup and I'm just not sure how valuable Marner is in that regard.

Doesn't have loser body language, doesn't look like a sad child on the bench, doesn't take penalties flipping the puck over the glass every playoffs, has actually improved his game since 2016...

I can't believe this is even a debate to some people, it's not even remotely close which one of them goes first.

yep.. and didnt steal from the team, hold them hostage and make stupid selfish demands...

I think a large part of Marner's issue is the pressure here and what he put on himself with the deal.

I think a lot of that drifts away if he's moved, but I'm extremely worried that we can't do it here

he literally has had zero shot strength improvement in FIVE years, with the best, deepest, most expensive front office/staff. Boggles my mind. Also add 5 pounds of upper body strength!

I think his greatest value to a team would be one that wants to make the playoffs after that it's just icing on cake and there are teams like that cause a little playoff revenue goes a long way.

Marner and Matthews. Those 3 upfront with Hyman, Thornton and Simmonds
Marner PP2.
AINEC.

And Marner on third line as well.

You dont play people through mental breakdowns.
Marner was having mental breakdowns.
He'd have more space on the third line.

I agree on dropping Marner, but your initial point about Keefe not using Nylander on PP1 is just outright wrong
