Even watching them in the AHL, I prefer Shaw over Dewar. Always been high on him. Watched just about every AHL game the last couple of years.
Me, too, and I have a different opinion. So does Army, who called Dewar his "best player", even over Rossi.

I like the shakeup, with Greenway out and Hartman forgetting his hands, our normal lines just aren't effective. This will rely on Rossi to step up if it is to be successful, Foligno should help with his possession and defensive game. Gaudreau on the top line is a necessary evil, Zucc wasn't lying when he said Kap would need to play more D, Kap and Zucc have had their own struggles to regain possession beyond Hartman's abysmal play. Guadreau should at least help them stabilize a bit at 5v5, and then they can continue to capitalize on the PP and off the rush.

Defensive pairings are interesting and I am curious to see how the Brodin- Addison pairing actually plays out. Brodin needs to figure his game out fast, I need a calming presence on the back end. Dumba - Merrill should be a good pairing, Dumba also needs to figure his game out fast, not a great start to his contract season.

I do too. Gaudreau isn't too appealing in that spot, but options are very limited. Maybe Steel there instead, but meh.

Enough of this Gaudreau nonsense. Put Ek up there since those three work very well on the PP.

Wasn't trying to bash your opinion. Just saying that I prefer Shaw over Dewar and I have watched them both, that's all! Sorry if it came across as shooting you down!

Didn't feel that way at all. It's just opinions, and mine is no better than yours.

If the regression for Hartman back to 'C' player and Gaudreau back to less than replacement level is true then pack the 6 best players into the top two lines and pray.

I like Foligno together with Boldy and Rossi, and have always thought that Hartman is a natural beside JEE, and Duhaime deserves a look. He has been playing well ... looks fast, and is almost as physical as Foligno.
Gaudreau...:dunno: He might not add much offense, but he's ok on FO's, has the speed to keep up, and will play defense while Kap and Zucc do their thing.

The only thing I hate is the 4th line. I mean, 5'10" Dewar is the toughest guy on the line.

People on here are complaining about Gaudreau and Hartman. Jost makes more than both of them, and is one of the most useless players I have ever seen. Doesn't provide offense, doesn't win board battles, doesn't do much of anything that I can see.

The defense isn't a big deal. At least no one has to play on their off side. I don't think that Addison is ready to play 22+ minutes, especially considering his PP obligations. I am pretty sure that Dumba will be playing with Brodin a bit.

I think Gaudreau has been fine. Hasn’t finished a few chances, but he’s performing at a much higher level than Hartman or Rossi.

He's been "fine", he just has no business playing in a top 6 offensive role. I think everyone would love him if he were playing in the bottom six. And he'd probably even add a little bit of offensive flair relative to what you'd expect from that role.

I'd like to see:

Hartman - Rossi - Boldy
Duhaime - Ek - Foligno

Ek/Foligno play best playing a dump/forecheck/cycle game off the boards. Rossi/Boldy play a possession/off the rush type of game. I think Hartman has at least shown he can be the finisher on that type of line where Foligno has never been successful on that type of line... same with Ek for those that want to move him up to the 1C.

Jost on the 4th line, pointless plug on the top line. I'm not saying I disagree with it(would've rather let Sturm walk for nothing), but if we didn't acquire Jost to give him a look in this situation then the trade was pointless, all we did was help a divisional opponent dump a dud, win the cup, and pickup a significantly better player for the same cap hit(Rodrigues).

Can we stop the “tanking talk”?

Ek’s line was terrible in Boston. Top line as well. Dumba continues to play with his head up his ass. Makes sense to shake things up.

We need to get better on faceoffs.
We can stop the tank talk when the team stops getting crucified every game they play. All of their warts which were covered by luck last year are a year older and a year bigger. Now we have no Fiala and nothing short of a miracle will put Guerins band of great locker room guys in the playoffs. The only question is how high will our lottery pick be.

Wild have scored more goals through the first 5 games this year than they did for the first 5 games last year. Last year they were 4-1-0 cause they only gave up 16 goals as opposed to the 1-3-1 and 27 goals given up. If we have any semblance of a good goaltender we are probably over .500

I realize there is this schtick for some to bitch and moan that Fiala is gone and part of that is valid… but so far goal scoring has NOT been the issue. Fiala wouldn’t be the reason we give up 11 fewer goals through the first 5 games.

Our most effective line over the last three years has been the GREEF line and so far they have played a total of 3 minutes together this year due to injuries. Greenway getting healthy will be a big step towards returning to normal. Jost just kills what that line is all about.

It’d also be nice if Kaprizov and Zuccarello would at least try in the d zone too.
