I have my doubts that Kaprizov will want to re-sign here, especially if we keep losing in the playoffs.

I think marat might be able to play C. He's strong, and can really skate. I can see him as a Gaudreau type, at least.
I worry about this too. I hope that Guerin is able to swing a big trade and get him a running mate to keep him here

I don’t see him as a Panarin or Kovalchuk who runs off to NYC. He seems like a more laid back type who may enjoy the lifestyle in MN. If he stays, he’s a legend forever, so we have that going for us as well. Someone needs to make sure Zuccarello settles down here when he retires.
Well, he has a place in Moscow, doesn't he? Seems to enjoy the big city life. I am sure he likes to go back home and fish, but going to a place like NYC, which has a large Russian population, or Miami, or LA, makes sense. Maybe he's tired of the cold weather, and wants to go to a place that is warm?
You can only go to Kramarczuck's so many times.

We can't do anything about those factors. All the team can do is be competitive, pay him a lot of money, not do stupid shit, then hope for the best.

That's been my fear since the beginning.

That's been my fear since the beginning.

I'm operating on the assumption that he'll be leaving at this point. Minnesota might be able to offer him competitive money, but whether we can be a competitive enough team is a real big question mark.

We can all speculate on whether he likes big cities, small towns, warm weather, fishing, etc, but I think one thing we can all see pretty clearly is he wants to win more than anything else, so none of the rest of that matters if we aren't set up to win when his contract comes due.

Also, the way Guerin and Evason seem to be handling some of these prospects, none of the guys we draft between 2023 and 2025 will be playing in impact roles come the end of the 2025-26 season.

So we're really relying on Yurov and Ohgren, among a few others, to be top six contributors in 2025-26. But Ohgren has this year and next in Sweden (I believe), and then at least 1 year in Iowa. That means he'll be in the Rossi boat in 2025-26.

Yurov has this year in KHL, and if he doesn't sign an extension, at least a year in Iowa, making him a sophomore in that 2025-26 season.

Khsunutdinov is in Russia through 2023-24, and then a year in Iowa, making him a rookie in 2025-26.

Wallstedt should hopefully be a capable starter by then, and guys like O'Rourke, Lambos, Hunt and Beckman will probably be role players here by then, but we're going to have a pretty significant lack of secondary scoring behind Kaprizov/Boldy if the rest of these players don't hit sooner rather than later.

Fiala would have helped a lot.

Zucc & Kap internal competition...

Zucc: I'm going to beat you this season, both in goals and points.
Kap: Give it a try.

Zucc's shots on goal is much higher than normal, same as Kap, so he's definitely changed this game. It would surprise me a lot if Kaprizov doesn't end up on top, but it's great when they push each other. Right now they both have 4 goals and 4 assists.

Just don't forget defensive play, -8 is not so good.

Kaprizov is pulling ahead in the +/- race, he's only -7.

Are you also wearing Bell Bottoms and wide collared shirts, sporting huge sideburns while listening to tunes on your 8 track? All of those things went out with the +/- stat.

I can see him staying. I can also see it taking an uncomfortable amount of money to get him to do so, with a contract that starts when he's 29 years old.
I enjoy that the contract Guerin is going to offer KK97 is going to be double the AAV of what he offered Fiala.

I'd like to see Shaw play next game on the JEE line. I think he plays a game that might fit into what they do. Jost, and Steel, just don't have the game for that line. Duhaime would be another choice, but i like him on the 4th line. Going forward(once Greenway is back), i'd be happy to have Jost and Steel disappear, frankly.
