Does anyone know if you can still convert 3 years of Xbox gold to ultimate for $1?

My subscription runs out soon and I want to stack 3 years of gold and convert it to ultimate if that still works. But I don’t want to buy 3 years of gold if it doesn’t.

Anyone know if it still works? Anyone do it recently?

Sort of, I think the $1 thing is gone, but if you load 36 months of gold, and do an upgrade to ultimate for 14.99 a month, it will convert to 37 months of ultimate

That will work! Thanks. I don’t mind buying a month of ultimate as long as my 3 years of gold convert!

I did the 3 years of gold to ultimate for 1 dollar as of late October 2022 (I believe the 27th). I still see MS offering that deal as of right now, at the very least in the Canadian Market. Even without Gamepass going up in price (I'm sure it will within the next 3 years), it saved me over 300 CAD if I just left gamepass on at the recurring 16.99.

Was this the first time you switched to ultimate?

Series S question.....if I'm not playing too many FPS games then is it worth it to get a 120+ hz monitor or can I just get a standard 60 or 75 hz monitor? I don't believe too many sports games run at more than 60 fps right?

I'm planning to buy a new 27" 1440p one for office/media use and Series S use and there's a difference in both price and selection if I get standard 60 of 75hz vs 120hz+.

There are few games that run 120fps and I don't believe the Series S has many games that support it or they are 1080P when running 120FPS. I don't think a 120hz monitor is worth it for the Series S but if you want to upgrade at some point.

theyre giving these things away, even if you dont want an xbox you might as well get this for the guest room.

The Series S is seriously underpowered IMO and comes with a limited hard drive, you're better off with an Xbox One X in the guest room.

Disagree. Series S low storage is a problem but you should not ever touch a last gen console anymore because of load times and lack of support regardless of how low resolution is.

Not worth going back to a hard drive and a 2013 laptop CPU.

Also One X's are nowhere near as cheap as Series S's in my experience.

They're also no longer in production so they'd be harder to find.

I'm not aware of any games on the SX that are pushing technological boundaries so if you're a casual gamer i'd recommend the S. As long as Microsoft and Sony continue to make new games that are supported by old consoles i don't think we'll have very many games giving us that "new gen" feel.

I basically just play Halo and NHL at this point when i get home late so in retrospect a Series S would've probably been fine

There isn't. Xbox is pushing their PC games over all which makes my Xbox a paperweight.

Meanwhile me enjoying my PS3 with the too many games I bought for under $5 lol.

I think they're both pretty cool consoles tbh. I will likely have two sports games installed and one story mode game installed at most so Series S is good enough to fit that.

On the PS3, I realize I never come back to a story mode game after I finish it so better to just delete it then and move on to the next.

I feel like PS4/Xbox generation was worse at times. Like every open world game has 2 minute long load times every time you die. PS3 you could play ton of games just from the disc, there was more loading screens but they were shorter.

Not counting a game like MGS4 obviously.

But regarding Xbox. I feel like for Microsoft to take the next step they really need to have Xbox purchases be real Xbox purchases. Meaning if you buy an Xbox game on Xbox it should work on the Xbox PC app, and vice versa. Ive heard there is versions of Forza that has this cross-buy but they should really push this more and possibly mandate it.

edit: I figured they had this. Yes all the forza games you do own them on the Xbox app if you buy them on the xbox app/windows store or xbox console.
