Sorry for using hyperbolic language to prove I'm Pejorative Slured when it comes to football.

Lions will likely be a sub .500 team still, not worried, enjoy Pro Bowler Jared Goff.

Edit: actually probably not sub .500 because the NFC is pure dogshit and I could definitely see them as a 9-8 team

Also before you start throwing the term pro bowl level QB around, don't forget this guy was one:

Goff definitely made mistakes against KC. Several off target throws, usually thrown too high.

But:
1) The starters had zero preseason time. I'd expect a little rust at first.
2) He still didn't make any MAJOR mistakes, and did make several good throws.
3) They won the game, which is all that truly matters.

I will happily place a friendly wager that the Detroit Lions win at least 11 regular season games this year. They're not ready to compete for a Super Bowl, but they're much improved from last year, especially on defense, and their rookie class looks very very promising.

I'd love for the Lions to be an 11 win team, it would make my mother very happy and I love Hutchinson obviously as a Michigan fan. I wasn't surprised they won this week, I bet on it. I just don't think they're going to be that great offensively and they'll lose some games because of it. Maybe they prove me wrong and win the North but I think the whole division is going to be really close, and like I said the rest of the NFC is pure unadulterated crap so playoffs for 3 of us could happen.

Top 5 offense in all of the NFL last year...

If there are any doubts about this team, its the defense

In his statements to the Title IX investigator, Tucker acknowledged masturbating on the call but said Tracy grossly mischaracterized the episode. According to him, they had consensual “phone sex.”

“Ms. Tracy’s distortion of our mutually consensual and intimate relationship into allegations of sexual exploitation has really affected me,” Tucker wrote in a March 22 letter to the investigator. “I am not proud of my judgment and I am having difficulty forgiving myself for getting into this situation, but I did not engage in misconduct by any definition.”

Someone is about to get shit-canned.

I just posted about that. I do suspect that he thought it was consensual. Still a dumbass who is likely going to get fired.

I understand the legal system is based upon being innocent until proven guilty. But it's extraordinarily disturbing that somebody would ever place themselves in a situation for these allegations to arise in the first place.

I'm a State fan and I can still say that even if his version of the story is true, he's a moron and should be fired for cause.

As the Michael Irvin situation just proved, it SHOULD be innocent until proven guilty. That said, Tucker has already admitted to wanking and is absolutely a dumbass.

This story, however, is becoming more sketchy with both parties deleting texts amongst themselves. Which tells me there is more to this or makes me wonder is she just flat out duped him.

Apparently MSU has been aware of this for a few months as well. Doesn't mean I still wouldn't fire him if I were them but that's rather curious.

3 TDs so far for Love. Sorry dudes, the Packers aren't going to suck.

Oh look another Justin Fields turnover.
Haha, c'mon Bench. You went from telling Lions fans to not crow prematurely to puffing out your chest when beating up on last year's worst team in the league.

Yes, the report of Jordan Love's demise may be exaggerated. But I still like Detroit's chances in this division.

This isn't premature.

I'm saying the Packers won't suck. And they won't. The defense is too good. The offense moved the ball and Love has looked sharp in key moments. He's not a bust, so NFC North fans can throw out that idea now.

That's different than saying they are contenders or will win the division. I'm not insane enough to go that far...

You know, unlike some teams fans.

I would like to see him do it against a better team than the Bears. His passing was on point and he didn’t make any huge gaffes… but plays like that huge one to the 5 to Musgrave are luck.

The Bears are still garbage. Love isn’t going to just be dong water, which makes me sad, but he’s gotta do it against a better opponent

The Lions had the least amount of questions (or rather the least amount of questions that don’t have a legitimate NFL veteran answer to) in the division. We are right to be confident. Our OL is fantastic. Was last year and is now. Goff is taking care of the football. And Hutch was great last year and a bowling ball against KC.

Whereas GB was replacing Rodgers and while Doubs and Watson are quite good, they’re still real young.

Calling for Super Bowl is premature… but the Lions have reason to be confident about winning the division. The holes they had on D, they patched with very good players and their backfield looks to be very solid

Packers will also only play Chicago one more time this year. Love was dreadful in the first half. As was Chicago with the entire Fox crew mocking that first half.

The second half turned on a big run by Jones and the pass he took 50+ yards before getting hurt. Then the turnovers started for Chicago. Including a horrific INT.

I'm bullish on Detroit because it's just reality. Hence why I picked Minnesota to win this division. Lions need to prove otherwise and I believe I have earned that right after viewing them all these years.

What I won't do is say Green Bay won't suck this year. They are still in the same boat as Chicago after today's game until further notice.

Love was dreadful in the first half.

He threw a touchdown on literally the first drive of the game. How dreadful.

Aaron Rodgers only did that once all last year. Love did it on his first try. But yes, what a dreadful beginning for the first year starter.

Dread. Full.

Lions beat the Super Bowl champs on the road: whoa, pump the breaks, Detroit fans!

Packers beat the Bears… they for real, Love is great, pAcKeRs ArE aWeSoMe!

:neener:

To be a little fair, the Bears looked terrible and a good bit of that was probably their defense frustrating Fields (I also think Fields is a garbage QB, but that’s besides the point).

And the Lions really ought to have lost to the Chiefs sans one of the absolute worst games that a WR has ever had. 1 receiving yard, -1 rushing yards, and four drops, one of which was turned into a pick six.

The Packers aren’t going away… but they’re not as good as they looked against the Bears, because the Bears are dogshit and the move they made to try to not be dogshit had 2 catches for 25 yards. The Lions may not be as good as they were defensively, but they also fought through several miscues to win. They’re gonna be a bitch to out for any team this year.

Are you guys actually this annoying talking to other fans about the Wings?

Like it's genuinely insufferable and not in the fun way.

Minnesota lost Thielen, Cook, and Zadarius, now just lost to the Baker Mayfield f***ing Bucs, and you're like "nah the Packers still probably suck and I think the Lions will have to duke it out with the Vikings"

This season Packers fans have 0 expectations, we have one of the youngest rosters and the youngest WR corps who was missing their #1 receiver today. The Packers and Wings are pretty near the same spot right now, young cores the fans are hoping to take a step. Playoff hopefuls. Our hope is to build on something for next year in my mind.

Oh, my hope is just that Love flames out because I don't want anything good to happen to the Packers. Packers = Ohio State = Chicago White Sox = Chicago Bulls

I don't think the Packers suck, I hope they suck, because I don't like seeing them win. I will say it is a weird flex in a week when the Lions just beat the defending champ Kansas City Chiefs @ Arrowhead to get bent out of shape that we think they happen to finally be pretty good. I get it, many fans can be very ridiculous about it. But honestly, that game against KC is a game we've lost hundreds of times. Where we have some penalty slight go against us or an ill-timed fumble on the doorstep and we whine about what could have been.

I also, and i know this is tantamout to treason, want to see Green Bay beat some team that isn't Chicago before I change my opinion on them. Chicago was the worst team in the league by a wide margin last year, lost several pieces and replaced them... but their prized acquisition went 2 catches, 25 yards. They played against a running back who occassionally throws the ball. Let's see them against Atlanta.

Are you guys actually this annoying talking to other fans about the Wings?

Like it's genuinely insufferable and not in the fun way.

Lastly, you gotta remember, Bench, that asking Lions fans to give the Packers ANY credit is like asking a Wings fan in 1998 to be like "Yeah, those Colorado Avalanche guys are awesome." We can praise one or two who are above reproach, like Jamaal Williams before he came to Detroit or Jaire Alexander who's just a stud CB (or Charles Woodson before him) a la Sakic, but we're gonna f***in hate your guys beyond what you would consider normal reason. We have decades of hatred built up for those cheesy f***ers.

I apologize for what I said, Lions are a 9+ win team for sure in this division/NFC, both them and the Packers will be playoff bound.

Let's all point and laugh at the Bears.

I can do this. I will also be praying for the Packers to lose every week. The Bears are not good. The Vikings are mediocrity personified. So, the main comp for the division is the Packers, therefore, I want Green Bay to stack up the losses early and often if they can. Just like Minnesota last year. They stacked up a bunch of fluky wins early such that when they came back down to Earth, they just had too big a division lead to be caught.

"Likely be a sub .500 team still" You do realise they werent even sub .500 last year right? You think theyre going to be 2 games worse this season than they were last season and that Goff is putrid? Or since you changed your tune, you could definitely see them have the same record as they did last season after just knocking off KC in arrowhead and completely overhauled their secondary?

Goff has been to 3 pro bowls and played in a super bowl. He has like 4 or 5 seasons that would be the most passing yards in a season in bears history, its a silly comparison.

Do you even watch the lions or do you just parrot talking points from Rico Beard?

I guess when you've been so shit forever one glimpse of "success" makes you think you're definitely something. Y'all still act like the littlest of bros.

Don't know who Rico Beard is.

I'm not even saying they're "definitely something" just that your take is idiotic.

You think theyre sub 500? I bring up that they were 2 games better than that last year.

You call Goff putrid? I bring up that he has multiple pro bowls, a 4-1 TD/int ratio last year and one of the longest streaks without a pick in league history.

But youre right, its one glimpse of success that makes me think your take is horrible, cant be the fact that you just dont know football clearly. Funniest part is, you have to reach to the lions history of being bad when your shitty takes are called out. "I'm losing this argument haha lions suck theyre little bro"... thats definitely the reply of someone who had a good take they can defend when it gets called out

Considering I revised my take within 10 mins after posting and 24 hours before you even responded to it, no I don't think they will be a sub .500 team. I posted later yesterday saying Lions would make the playoffs too.

Hmmm Maybe Ottawa fans are right about Wings fans after all.

I was calling lions fans little bro for how you guys are acting. Like when the little brother thinks he's finally gonna beat his older brother. He might, but the way he acts while doing it after having lost every previous match is funny.

ALSO:
What argument am I losing? That Goff is actually great or something? Get over it dude he isn't a win because of QB, at best he's win with. And I know enough about football to have had the foresight that KC should've tried to get some game reps with their brand new receiving corps and QB before week 1 of the season.

My man, I mostly unplugged from the awful NFL years ago, I just follow the Lions, and generally don't interact with other fans unless it's out of convenience like on a Red Wings forum where I spend time lol. I'm just riffing on this thread where there are some Lions fans saying, 'hey, the Lions should be good,' and the Lions just beating the SB champs on the road, and then a Packers fan trying to throw cold water on it all. With the amount of suffering this franchise has inflicted on its fanbase for so many years, no one's interested in the cold water, and especially not from a Packers fan :pout:
