You guys are honestly so funny.

The Vikings just went 13-4 but you're already doing victory laps after a 9 win season.
Mmmm...I don't follow the NFL much, but I get the impression Minnesota had a charmed season with several of their wins. Then they went down to the just-above-.500 G-Men.

I think the Packers still may be the standard to beat.

I'm just saying if you're taking the title as "best team in the North" maybe you should make the playoffs first. And maybe win the division.

Ya know, not barely squeak out 9 wins and consider your Goff lead team with a shaky defense suddenly a perennial contender.

The Lions haven't won a division title since 1993. The Vikings won 8. The Packers have won 15 in that span. The Lions have won 3 division titles TOTAL since 1970. The Packers 3 division titles since 2019. The Vikings have 3 since 2015.

So seeing guys like Newfy already crowning his Lions as the top team now, well, let's just say it's amusing. Let your team prove literally anything before rushing to the podium for your award.

I hear your logic. But this statement is 180 degrees from 99.99999 percent of message boards on the planet. Including this one. :D

Booked a trip to Tampa for the Lions game. Bucs are bringing the creamsicle pirate jerseys out of mothballs for the game.

Yes, I will be wearing Lions Zubaz at Raymond James. That is how I roll.

Really there shouldn't be a team in the division getting too far out over their skis.

The Packers are starting a yet-to-be proven QB leaning on promising 2nd year and rookie WRs/TE almost exclusively. Had a chance to make it to the playoffs last year but couldn't overcome the doormat Lions at Lambeau in a win and get in scenario in the last game of the season with one of the greatest QBs in NFL history. Love could arrive and the pass catchers take a step forward and it would be dangerous; the defense is strong enough. Love could also crack under pressure and the Packers are drafting top 5. We just don't know.

The Vikings lost one of the more tested and effective RBs in the past 5 years, making it easier for defenses to lean more pass, while also possessing one of the league's worst defenses without substantial changes. So bad that they were effectively the same as Detroit, and did far less than Detroit to improve it. The lofty win total included 11 victories of 8 or less, against primarily mediocre to bad teams like Saints, Bears, Cardinals, Commanders, Patriots, Jets, Colts, Giants, Lions. A team that barely held on in some matchups against bad teams that didn't get significantly better is not one that should inspire confidence.

The Bears still haven't done enough to protect Fields. Fields still hasn't indicated that he has what it takes to be an elite passer in the NFL. The RB play should be stagnant. The defense was the league worst in points per game, bottom 5 in yards per game. It's a work in progress, and they definitely committed resources to it. They just need more time before they actually enter their competitive window and add more pieces. Basically they should be hopeful that they can demonstrate the same growth that the Lions did last year, something to make you confident in the track they are on.

The Lions had one of the worst defenses in the league; bottom 5 in points per game, league worst in yards per game. They have yet to actually win anything other than keeping the Packers out of the playoffs. About half of their defensive starters are about to be flipped over. There's indications of improvement, but improvement over the standard "not a playoff team" isn't enough to hang banners on. A ton of turnover indicates how under-talented the roster has been in certain areas, and you have to hope they made the right decisions on a lot of things.

The Vikings also smell like wee wee.

E: Also, the entire city of Detroit was essentially on suicide watch when Marvin Jones fumbled that ball away going in for a score and shitting bricks about leaving any time on the clock for Mahomes, because you saw that even in a game where his receivers dropped most everything, it took one minute at the end of the first half for the light to go on and the Lions D to get carved up.

Hate to be a hater but Goff still looked putrid and I don't have much faith in the Lions.

That being said I bet on them early in the week Under 54 and Moneyline at +225 parlayed - +520

I had a feeling KC would leave something on the table even before the news of Kelce, I think I just got lucky more now after watching last night  Thanks Toney

What do you mean still? He was one of the highest rated QBs the last 10 games of the season. He looked just fine, took a while for the O-Line to pass protect for him. At least, that was my observations. marvin Jones did him no help as well.

I mean regardless of them winning he didn't look very good and made a lot of overthrows.

He looked fine and would have looked better if Marvin Jones didn't drop some easy passes and/or fumble on the doorstep of the endzone or Reynolds didn't drop that open bubble screen. Just like Mahomes had a virtuoso moment in him, but Kadarius Toney said, "NOT SO FAST, MY FRIEND". No, Goff didn't light the world on fire yesterday, but he took care of the football. I didn't see anything "putrid" out of his game yesterday. He made some big throws when they were necessary and didn't make any huge mistakes. I mean, he had 250 passing yards and a TD..

Gotcha. So you saying "still" was a mistake. You just didn't like his play. I get yah, his yardage wasn't perfect and he had two bad overthrows. He currently has the third longest interception free streak in NFL history, so the word "still" was clearly a mistake. Hopefully he cleans up his mistakes and we beat championship contenders more handily.

I also want to ask what do you mean, still looked putrid?

The guy has the 3rd longest passing streak without an interception in league history going right now, threw for over 4400 yards last year, had a TD to interception ratio over 4 last year and just won a game in arrowhead against the defending champs.

Goff has had one bad half season when he first came to the Lions, and a season and a half now of pro bowl level play. You dont know football if youre calling Goff putrid at this point

Sorry for using hyperbolic language to prove I'm Pejorative Slured when it comes to football.

Lions will likely be a sub .500 team still, not worried, enjoy Pro Bowler Jared Goff.

Edit: actually probably not sub .500 because the NFC is pure dogshit and I could definitely see them as a 9-8 team

Also before you start throwing the term pro bowl level QB around, don't forget this guy was one:
