Rings hollow to me. Michigan’s brand and banking is as big as anyone in the nation. You’d get more eyes with them in the championship against one of the SEC teams than you would getting a rematch of the SEC championship game.

And if it was really just about money, ND would be in over Cincinnati

Notre Dame has 2 losses, lost to Cincinnati and barely beat Toledo and Florida State. NCAA is about the money but not stupid enough to cross that bridge and air their corruption blatantly.

I can’t think of a single business reason to want an SEC rematch for the National Championship. Not when you have a top 5 brand name as the alternative option.

Unless you’re terrified that Michigan wouldn’t hold up their end and knock off Cincinatti.

The argument of the slight bias to avoid the round one rematch, while I do think people (the committee) are stupid enough to think they are big braining the whole thing, there’s actually very little support to suggest that it’s the best business decision you can come up with.

What a beautiful 4th quarter. Just a straight mollywhopping after that big forced turnover on downs at the end of the 3rd to close it out. Go Blue!
Agreed! Go Blue! I don't think AL should be #1, but I won't be surprised if they are. I think the Bearcats will lose in the semis.

Looks like some Sparty fans will have to come up with a new insult besides these recruits weren’t even alive last time Michigan won the Big 10. Go Blue!

Both the basketball team and football team now have the most recent big ten title.

Michigan is the winningest program in the history of college football. 1. Michigan. All-time record: 966-350-36. Win percentage: .728.

Nice posts. Many younger MSU fans live closer to MI and their parents are MI fans. They just jumped on the MSU bandwagon and it's a source of tremendous sadness in many MI families. ;)

I'm content with the CFP matchups. Like UM against tOSU this year, Alabama's demise was greatly exaggerated, although Saban owns Georgia, something like 7 straight wins.

Which admittingly, was one the reasons why I wasn't expecting UM to beat tOSU this year, ever since Cooper was let go, "the game" has been one sided but hey, they did come out and kick the crap of them, so it's why they play the games.

UM vs Georgia should be good, and I hope Cincy comes out to play. I really don't want another Bama NC, please kill the "SEC!" chants. Like when UM plays ND, it's only time I would begrudgingly root for the Wolverines.

Yeah kinda BS that Michigan is number 2 but I dont hate the matchup with Georgia. Georgia only played one good team all season and it was Bama. Bama isnt the same old Bama this year either so that dominant win against Georgia gives me hope. Georgias only win that really looked good at the time was Clemson 10-3 but CLemson ended up bad.

Michigan opens up +7 which is what Bama was against Georgia as well. Gonna be exciting

I get the feeling it will be along the lines of Tucker being Harbaugh's daddy since Tucker is 2-0 against him. That's my best guess.

Hats off to UM for a great win yesterday and a great season overall.

That being said, I don't buy the arguments for UM to jump Bama. Bama beat 5 ranked teams to this point, UM beat 2. Bama struggled to beat unranked teams as did UM. They weren't all that against unranked Nebraska, Penn St. and Rutgers. Bama destroyed unbeaten UG in what was a home game for Georgia. UM's win was impressive, but destroying a team that Wisconsin waxed isn't the same as owning unbeaten #1. Nick Satan...uhhhh, Saban has a way of rising to the top.

Good luck against Georgia.

Ha, that's pretty misleading. You're counting a couple wins very early in the season against teams we now know should have never been ranked in the first place. Miami finished 7-5 and dropped out of the rankings for good in week 4. Florida finished 6-6 and dropped out of the ranking for good in week 8. Michigan's win against unranked Wisconsin was more impressive than both of those Bama wins ;)

Rankings of course meaning much more today than early in the season....

Bama beat #3, #8, and #21. They lost to #25.

UM beat #6 and #15. They lost to #10.

As a Badger fan I'm calling bullocks on that notion. If they beat Wisco 3 weeks down the road like that, then yes. The Badgers were garbage at that point and didn't hit their stride until the Purdue game. I'd say the win against State Penn was a better victory than that.

I get the argument about beating teams that shouldn't have been ranked. I'm jumping into the mud pit with people who say Bama struggled with Auburn (who at least saw rankings) while ignoring the fact UM struggled with never ranked Rutgers.

Tis all moot. The CFP has made their choice. At least we don't have to see OSU in the playoff this year:thumbu:

Shoulda came down to Ohio State and Georgia are very comparable wins, Michigan State was a significantly better loss than aTm. Trying to compare outside of that is wishy washy at best. Georgia has played no one this year. If Ohio State or Michigan play Georgias schedule theyre the one seed going into the last week as well.

I get the argument about beating teams that shouldn't have been ranked. I'm jumping into the mud pit with people who say Bama struggled with Auburn (who at least saw rankings) while ignoring the fact UM struggled with never ranked Rutgers.

For starters, I would say theres a big difference between something like the Rutgers game happening week 3 or 4 vs the Auburn game happening second last week of the year and being a 4OT game, not a regulation win. But we arent going to talk about Bama barely getting by Florida or LSU either? Bama played a bunch of close games to end the year, throw Arkansas in the mix as well... And the B1G east is just as good as Bamas schedule. Bama played way closer games and had a much worse loss with a comparable win.

If it was a random team and not Bama with their history, I dont even think it would be a big discussion. Michigan would be number 1 but Bama has their history to fall back on with their name value so thats how it goes

Are there actually still people who believe the seedings are based on merit instead of television ratings? How cute.

It's all about the money. Always has been.
