I am still chasing the high of the Passtronaut taking flight for us for those 2 weeks...

I was right there with you. He was playing so well! And an easy guy to root for.

Where were you when I was defending the Vikings before the season? I know things didn't go well this year but hard to judge this Vikes team with all their huge injuries to basically every star player. If Cousins and JJ stay on the field, it's a completely different outcome.

The Vikings defense is still good, too. So I think they can quickly rebound next year and be back in the playoffs.

What do you think they should do at QB? Bring back Kirk "Kohl's Cash" Cousins? Draft a new guy? Explore the QB market?

He's getting ready to experience Russell Wilson on an intern wage.

I feel pretty strongly they should draft a QB. I don't know if you have seen that recent rumor they tried to trade a boatload of stuff in this last draft to trade up for Richardson, but there were all kind of rumors we tried last year, and that was before the achilles injury to Kirk and him being in the last year of his deal.

My only issue is I don't know if we will be able to trade up high enough to get 1 of the 3 worth taking (Drake Maye/Caleb Daniels/Jalon Daniels), and then I start to get a bit worried about that next group of guys. Although I am thinking more and more I might take a chance on Penix, but the injury history concerns me more than the age does.

If they think they can't get a QB they like in the draft and want to bring back Kirk on a reasonable deal, I would be OK with it. I actually like and have defended Kirk a lot, and at least you know what you are getting. I was liking the way he was playing a lot this year til he got hurt. And JJ loves him, and keeping him important is happy.

I just personally would prioritize extending JJ and Hunter over re-signing Kirk. They could really use a QB on a cheap deal to help them pay for these other players.

Richardson would have been such a good get for you guys. Shame it didn't work out. Trading up is tricky.

The Packers were actually in love with Justin Jefferson but reportedly couldn't move up enough to get him. So instead they traded up to grab Love in that draft because the rumor is the Colts were going to take him. So if the Colts already had Love do the Vikings get Richardson? Butterfly effect shit.

All I know is the Vikings looked pretty good before the injuries so I think if they get the right QB, they could have a very quick rebuild on the fly.

Wish I could know all the draft room moves people tried and didn't happen. Both in the NHL and NFL. There are probably some crazy stories we never heard about. Although it seems more recently that a lot of this stuff gets leaked. I love that video of Minnesota's FO where Philly takes Jalen Reagor which made JJ available for us.

Vikings getting a QB with upside could be scary, but getting that right and being able to get that asset is the hardest thing to do as far as team building goes in the NFL. We will have to see.

Do you think Jordan Love is "the guy" after this year? Are you a fan of Lafleur?

I have confidence the Vikings won't bottom out next year but yeah they definitely need to hit the right QB. You're right, that's the hardest part. And it's why the Packers took that risk and pissed off Aaron Rodgers.

Jordan Love looks incredible right now. Last 8 games he has 18 TDs and 1 Int. That's how you want your rookie to finish the season.

You saw the Vikings NYE game. The Vikings challenged Love to throw and blitzed Love on 59% of plays. They brought heat. And Love didn't take a single sack and cut them up with some great read and throws. You don't do that unless you're confident reading defense and can deliver quick strikes. When I see Love in the zone, it's not just good, he looks like a star. I don't know if he will be one for years and years yet, but damn it's looking promising. Sorry NFC North fans, I know it's annoying, but he looks legit.

On that note, yeah I'm a fan of LaFleur, too. The offense is nothing but 1st and 2nd year guys. Love had over 4000 passing yards without a single 1000 yard receiver and only one guy with a 100 yard game all year (practice squad pickup Bo Melton). You don't take a bunch of late round rookies and turn them into a solid offense without excellent coaching.

Defensively is another story and the Packers desperately need a new defensive coordinator and they have some guys getting big paychecks not playing their best. So the defense is pretty far from contender status and that needs to improve before I have any hopes of being more than a pain in the ass team.

Seems like you guys have drafted a bunch of WRs recently, but im not really a big fan of any of them. Although I guess I didnt really get to see Watson this year, seems like he is always hurt. I liked Musgrave a lot though from what I saw. Love has looked solid to me but I did not realize he had that kind of run to end the year. One weird thing with that team is they love to take deep shots but it seems like they rarely hit on them, and are really good at short/medium throws. Can't figure that out.

The NFC North could end up having some heavyweights at tight end, which would be interesting.

I'm also curious to see if Hooker becomes something for Detroit down the line, I thought he was an interesting prospect last year. (what a draft they had)

Watson is the real deal but he's got hammy issues so who knows. And you need to put some respect on Jayden Reed's name. Put up 89 yards and 2 TDs against your boys and you give him no mention? For shame. The deep ball issues you're talking about have been cleaned up from the start of the year, but that was an issue early on for sure.

Speaking of the NFC North, just saw this tidbit from your boy JJ.

“They’re very good. I mean, they’re holding the (NFC) North champions for a reason,” Jefferson said. “They have the energy, they have the swagger out there, and I mean they’re doing enough to get the wins, and they’re doing what we’re not doing, which is executing fully throughout the game.

“So I mean, just like I said to all the rest of those guys out there, ‘Congratulations’ on the year that they have been having, but the job is not done for them. They need to continue to go out there and do what they need to do on the field, but I definitely have some players over there that I will look for in the playoffs and will be rooting for.”

Classy dude.

Lol im not taking much away from that second matchup where Mullens threw 100 yards and we were punting the whole game, but you can.

I think it’s pretty crazy Flores was able to get that defense to be as effective as he was for most of the year with the meh talent level on that defense. He did start to get figured out late in the year though (throw it short to the same side the pressure is coming from). But he schemed up that group really well all year to where I think he should get head coach looks again. Would love if we can bring him back another year. Doesn’t change the fact that our corners are mediocre/bad, so good for you Jayden Reed

I’ve never had JJ do anything that makes me want to do anything but pay him whatever $$ he wants (unlike Diggs), and I hope we do just that.

These teams are going to have to have the mindset next year of let’s un-seat Detroit which is crazy but it’s definitely where we’re at.

Big revenge game for Mike McCarthy this week :)

Go Blue. They finished it emphatically. I almost felt bad for Penix by the end of the game.

God damn that game shortened my life a bit with all the worthless mid two quarter drives from Michigan and Penix just barely misfiring.

A few inches the other way and Washington wins that one going away. It’ll look like a blowout, but honestly one really iffy holding call not being thrown and we’ve got a tie game at 20–20 and are probably facing OT.

Yep, Michigan went away from what was working and it almost blew up in the their face. Glad they pulled it off but I felt like I was watching the Red Wings go into a defensive shell after they go up by 4 goals and slowly watching the game slip away.

I feel the opposite. Michigan absolutely dominated the Huskies and it being 10-17 after the first half didn't tell the story at all. Washington had hope for all of 45 seconds and during halftime but they squandered that immediately. Never really felt threatened as a Michigan fan. Especially after the torture that was the Alabama game.

Yup. If I didn't know any better, I'd have thought a couple of those 3-and-outs in the middle frames were on purpose. They leaned way harder on their defense than they should have, and were lucky to be bailed out by both them, and multiple Washington receivers having a case of the dropsies. Game was so much closer than the score indicated.

Still, so many Michigan players had outstanding games. Blake Corum is just a gem of a player, what an amazing talent with such a positive, grounded attitude. No disrespect to Edwards, another guy with an incredible game, but I'm glad Blake got player of the game. Well earned.

They did dominate them in the first quarter. If that had played out for 4 quarters, they'd have won 84-3. But Washington made an adjustment to M's run game by loading the box, and Michigan, inexplicably, failed to adjust to that for multiple drives (our middle 7 drives went punt, turnover on downs, punt, FG, punt, punt, punt). Through the middle two quarters, we kept waiting for them to adjust, and they didn't. And it quickly started feeling like it was just a matter of time before Washington came storming all the way back. And they were within a couple hair widths of doing so.

Missed my edit. Again they had hope for 45 seconds after that late first half score. Then he threw the terrible pick to begin the half make it 20-10 and I never felt threatened again.

They pulled within 7 at one point, nothing compared to the Alabama anxiety.
