Post-Game Talk: Jets 6 - Bruins 2

So are we past the piss poor analysis that we are actually a bad team? No one who actually knows hockey would consider the Jets a bad or even a fringe team. We are a true on contender so lets get comfortable with that.

That "piss poor analysis" is directly related to our poor PO performance the last 2 years. We finished 4th last year and are currently 1st in regular season play. Jets are a very good team in spite of those 2 small size samples. Of course some people will say the samples are only small because we are bad, but Come on. Look at the record.

I'm not sure who I would sit if the Jets acquire another forward or two.
I thought Perfetti. Reconsidering.
I thought Gustafsson. Reconsidering.
I thought Kupari. Reconsidering.
I thought Namestnikov. Reconsidering.
Tough call.

I'd go after Jordan Greenway in Buffalo.
6-6. 230.
Hits everything that moves.
Wouldn't he look good throwing his weight around in a game like tonight.
Wouldn't cost much to acquire.
Like having a young Buff..

Scheifele is elite. Last years goals wasn't a fluke, he's a 40 + goal center. 30 goals before February is wild. Carry on doing it in the playoffs and he can lead them all the way like 2018. He is the first draft pick of this team and it's most important player imo.
He is elite at some things. Definitely not an elite face off man.

Tidy piece of work so far. My crunched numbers so could be a mistake or two in there.

Could you imagine potentially having Barzal and Connor (and Chabot) but instead you end up with Zboril, DeBrusk and Senyshyn?

It makes Chevy trading up to draft Stanly look like a "minor oopsie"

True - but you are comparing it to one of the biggest "oopsies" ever.

Most important skater.

Jets keep rolling even with injuries ... seriously question do the Jets really need to make a big move at TDL?
The team chemistry is so good now who would come out of the lineup once anyone is healthy if they make a big trade.
Boston and Preds made a big splash at FAs and look at them do they even make the playoffs?

Jets 8-2 play the 3 hottest teams in a row now ... Caps 7-1-2 ... Canes 7-1-2 and the Isles 8-2.

Coilers 2022-23 McJesus had 64 and his German sidekick had 52 they also had 3 guys over 100 points those draft winning bastards

He is still their gm too!
Luckily we have one thing they don’t have which is a venzina goalie. Which is a team asset, but, probably means we get less pp making it harder to reach goals.

Yes, because a big injury will happen, our top line will go cold, etc.

I have been one of the more critical posters on here but the past few games have me thinking there is very little tinkering Chevy should do at the trade deadline. Another solid dman would help but the forwards seem to be the right mix unless a star with term comes along.

I never considered them bad just need to see them keep this up in the playoffs

Super happy for Ford, but thought he looked pretty out of place overall. Bottom 6 was a tire fire tonight.

I thought that Boston looks like a team that just doesn't have it. When your leader is leading by crosschecking people in the back, I'm not sure what kind of leadership that is. Marchand is no Chara, no Bergeron. But the Bruins themselves are a shadow of the team they were. Lately the Jets have been sorting out the pretenders from the contenders in their winning streak.

I was yelling pretty good after the turnover and then the faceoff antics that allowed the Bruins to tie the game up. But then next shift just skate right through them for a grade A, and you realized the Bruins were going to find a way to lose. Then Lohrei giving a freebie to Ehlers. That was pure self destruction and I loved it.

2nd line had a real good game. Not sure why they were so effective, maybe just talked among themselves about what they needed to do better after a substandard game in Montreal.

I thought Scotty shortening the bench in the 2nd, to use 4 defensemen most of the way was a pretty smart move. Rode the guys who could keep the Jets moving in the right direction. Didn't really see anything poor from Stan and Miller, a lot quieter game than the Montreal game with Fleury, but maybe I missed something...

I wasn't too impressed by Parker Ford until the 3rd period. Congrats on #1 kid, in front of family and friends. Real solid move by the Jets to give him his first game in Boston. Listening to the interview he did with Paul Edmonds, I think this kid, who is older than Perfetti, is going to be a good player. Chose to finish his degree before starting pro hockey. Also gave a pretty good endorsement of the organization, who his agent recommended for the way they treat their players. That's a good reputation to have.

Jets winning 9 games in October, November, December and January is a model of consistency.
Next game is vs. the 2nd best team in the league. As of today we're #1.

It has been interesting how Scheifele and Connor have been pushing each other up the goal scoring race. At this point they will easily both push past 40. Can you imagine them both pushing for 50 in the same season. That would make for a lot of fun.
And Scheiffle said he wants more assists than goals..maybe he is superstitious or really likes being a set up man?

Interesting stat ... for the 1st time ever in Jets 2.0 history the Jets have beaten all "original six" teams in their barn in one season or does going undefeated in all "original six" teams' barn in one season sound better?:D
Either way that's damn good record since they only play one game in 5 of those cities and only 2 games in the 6th city.
Jets 1.0 did it too in the 1984-85 season but they played more than one game in those cities during that era.

Really good game.

Bruins had chance to trade for Scheifele a year and half ago but they didn't want him oop. Too bad 55 was not out on the PK to get the EN hattrick. The Jets contrary to their usual pattern on a bit of roll in Jan going into the ASB... here's to hoping that nonsense 4 nations tournament doesn't hurt the momentum.
