the numbers behind Ohtani are crazy. It's estimated he makes over $40m a year from endorsements alone. On top of that, the Angels reportedly made an extra $20m a year from him being on their team and helping them sell stuff. I have to think that number will likely go up for the Dodgers.

A big part of the appeal of Ohtani for clubs is in the revenue he brings in for everyone and everything around him.

Lions will be on NFL Network only for those that live outside of Detroit and Denver markets. Surely, no one will be finding pirate streams instead of paying for NFL+.

Is anyone a Lions STH? The mark-up for '24 is astronomical. Demand is so high they've increased 50-60%.
It's to be expected. Looks like the average increase is 30%, but some people's increase is nearly 100%. There's a long waitlist for Season Tickets. If you renew yourself as a STH, you'll make some nice coin on the reseller market.

I feel like fans can't complain for 60 years about ownership not wanting to win, and then turn and complain about ownership trying to create profits from winning.

I'm pretty sure that fans can and are complaining about the team enhancing profits at an extreme level after 60 years of profiting on the same fans despite producing nothing but a shit product and shit experience for decades. It's not that people didn't expect price hikes, but maybe bridge the gap and actually accomplish something before you price out a majority of your core blue collar fans.

Or forget your roots and turn into the Red Wings with piles of unused corporate seats when the competitive window shuts after a short stint (as the vast majority of teams do).

I understand why they are making the decision in the vacuum, but it does clearly present itself in a shitty fashion.

Just out of curiosity, when would be the best time to increase their prices?

Last year, they were the hottest team and the leagues darlings after their second half of the season. This season, Lions should be in the playoffs and possibly the #2 seed. Should they wait until they win a playoff game? Should they wait for a Conference Championship? Superbowl?

They gave the fans hope last season. They are doing great this season. Capitalize. A 30% increase is fairly standard. I don't see anything shitty, but we may have different views. I majored in Econ and Sports Management and this makes total sense to me, but again, that's just my personal opinion.

Increases can be phased in instead of hitting dedicated STH's that kept their tickets after '08 with 60% increases before winning a playoff game.

The shitty part is disguised by using the average to make it look reasonable. I know and work with several people who have season tickets, including some that just made that commitment this year. None of them have increases under 55%. A lot of people are getting hammered and the Lions will take the PR stance of "some people will get more of an increase than others, but the total increase is only XX%" as if the people care about how the average is less than they get stuck with.

And you know that these people have no recourse they can act on. I can guarantee you that the customer "satisfaction" reps are going to unbearable. They won't make an attempt to help people, they will turn a cold shoulder and drive a wedge between the business and the customer because if the current STH balk at new prices, they will take it to the waitlist and sell it for even more.

It's inequitable and they will never transparently reveal why some people get f***ed disproportionally compared to others. That's my biggest gripe.

How tf do you suck this bad? The NBA should relegate the pistons and bring up the best development league team.

It's a mess from the top down. Owners that don't show up unless they're forcing a Blake Griffin trade aren't exactly good for smart basketball decisions.

Owner doesn’t show up unless he’s forcing a Griffin trade or vetoing the GM’s coach hire to overpay for a coach who doesn’t have any interest in coaching the team built with a bunch of players that aren’t NBA talent acquired by a GM that doesn’t understand the modern NBA game.

And then there’s Cade, continuously forced to try to be the hero because literally nobody else can be. Beat to hell spiritually and probably destined to be traded in the next year for an underwhelming return where the cycle begins anew under the same owner who will intervene to f*** something up because he doesn’t understand why his team can’t have a superstar.

26 straight games. How do you lose that many? They make the Tigers look good. At this point I'm rooting for it to keep going.
I am also hoping for the Lions to win the division.

not only are they not winning but they usually aren't even competitive in their losses unless the other team is also really bad

it really makes you wonder just how far it can go, they could have a legitimate chance to lose something really crazy like 40+ in a row or something
