From what I’ve heard Ohotuik is big, but not a great Dman. Cool.

The return is underwhelming considering he was the best player on the market and had multiple teams in on him. The best you could do is a first, maybe a second first, an ok D prospect, and then a bunch of fillers?

Per wiki
  1. The teams that did not qualify for the playoffs the previous season (picks 1–16)
  2. The teams that made the playoffs in the previous season but did not win either their division in the regular season or play in the Conference Finals (picks 17–24 up to 28)
  3. The teams that won their divisions in the previous season but did not play in the Conference Finals (potentially picks 25–28)
  4. The teams that lose in Conference Finals (picks 29 and 30)
  5. The team that was the runner-up in the Stanley Cup Finals (pick 31)
  6. The team that won the Stanley Cup in the previous season (pick 32)
So rooting for Carolina to keep the Division lead too.
Wow, thats complicated -- thanks for the info! Go Canes, and rooting for NJ not make the conference finals nor the finals, but if they do then rooting for timo. I wonder if this conditionality is more or less complicated than the condition on the 2024 1st.

Weird to see the displeasure here and the complete opposite on the mains commenting on Grier getting the return he got. I think it’s quite a decent return for a not extended Meier
It seems like Meier extending with NJ is a given.

Well... Sharks suck so...

We got a good haul, Timo time in NJ, and because of the condition on the second 1st round pick, we have a reason to either a) cheer for or b) cheer against a team other than ours!

Talk about a win-win! LETS GO JERSEY!!! DUN DUN DUN DUN DUN!

If Timo signs next week this trade is trash. If he's a rental, it's a decent enough return

Courtesy of @Guadana who is very knowledgeable about prospects, especially Russians. Here he has an excellent breakdown of some of Shakir’s play in the KHL this season. Give it a watch. He might be a really good one.

Mukhamadullin sounds like the player Ryan Merkley was supposed to be.

Gents, its been a pleasure discussing Timo for a 150 pages and I really do believe you guys got a really nice haul, even if maybe some of you are not happy with it. I was a vocal opponent on drafting Mookie a couple of years ago and over the last couple of years I've changed my tune completely and I think he's going to be a pretty good NHL dman. Zetterlund doesn't have the elite upside, but you'll love him and he's a nifty top 9 spark plug.

If everything works out and you get a second first round pick as well, it's just gravy.

This feels like the Karlsson trade.

Timo = EK
Harrington = Perron
Norris = Mukhamadullin
Balcers = Zetterlund
Tierney = Okhhotiuk
Demelo = Johanson

then both have a 1st and a conditional 1sts, condition is probably like advancing to SCF or ECF

Well considering 1st, Shakir and Holtz has been the outline forever, doing Zetterlund and another 1st plus Ohotiuk instead of Holtz is fine I guess. at least Zetterlund has been doing well.

I have no skin in this game. But I’m seen a lot of bad tales online. As a Yotes fan, I’d have been thrilled to get a return like this for Chychrun. I think this is a huge haul.

Not trying to offend anyone who’s hurting right now. Just trying to be encouraging. I think you got a lot of very nice assets here.

Assuming you get two 1sts (don’t know the conditions yet).

As a Devils fan I was hoping that we'd keep Muk and you'd get Holtz instead.

Muk has continiously grown better each season since the draft, I would put him at the top of Russian D prospects along with the Canes Nikishin. He has a very long reach who manages to win most board battles, His point shot is very powerful and this season he has shown to have a pretty good offensive IQ by finding good places to shoot from.

His biggest weakness is that he sometimes struggles to make decisions when faced with 2 on 1 situations.

I think he'll be a good long term 2nd pairing Defenceman for the Sharks.

Zetterlund is a muscley grinder with some brains who always go into board battles and be a puck hound. He probably is a 3rd liner but can play up lines when the top lines need someone more physical.

Okhotyuk is a 3rd pairing D who can make crushing hits and is pretty good defensively. He always looks like he is playing a bit of catch up with what is happening on the ice.

Hope these players turn out good for you Shark fans!
