i misread that part. i thought that if you guys make the ECF in 2024, it becomes a 2025 1st.

imagine if Timo gets hurt in the 1st game of the playoffs and the Devils still make the ECF. Would lose out on the condition

but theyve still gotta give teams like buffalo and detriot those 5% odds, theyve got 14 east teams when only 8 will be in the playoffs so those odds are lower than actual since NJD will be a playoff team. id peg them closer to 35% than i would to 24.

Fitzgerald put the protection on the 1st round picks that DW didn’t in the Karlsson trade (Evander re-signing made that difficult). MG shouldn’t have allowed that being that he didn’t get any blue chip prospects as a base. NJ should have to face some downside risk in that ‘24 pick becoming something of greater value.
