Scheifele's line was by far the Jets' worst at 5v5. They need to get back to the basics.Ehlers got a goal but he was trash.
Time to get to blender out and shake things up a bit.
This is when Arniel needs to do some good coaching. If the top line plays like they did tonight the Jets playoffs run wont get off the runaway and another great regular season will mean nothing. Unfortunately I don't think that there is not too much that Chevy will be able at to do at this deadline for various reasons.
My thoughts exactly. Why? And if they are giving up on him, why would he be of interest to us?The fact that a team in the midst of a playoff race would make their 2C available speaks volumes as to how he's seen be the team. He'd have to come at an extreme discount to be remotely interested on my part.
I think Brock Nelson is the player the Jets should take a serious run at. He’s a very solid player.I'll take one Brock Nelson, please.
Played a fantastic game tonight.
Everyone has been a little off since the break, the 4 nations really screwed us in many ways, our third line is hot garbage excluding Lowes but he can't finish, the top line is cold as ice, our second line is invisible outside of Ehlers who himself is making a lot of mistakes, I honestly didn't even notice Vlad was on the ice against the Isles. Is it just me or does KFC seem a bit off since returning from 4nations? Specifically his goal scoring. He’s had open looks especially on the power play but just one goal. Once he gets one, I’m sure he’ll be a game breaker again.
If this happens.....It'll probably blow up in my face, but speculation is a part of this thread, and I think there are too many things that line up for Crosby to come to Winnipeg.
- I thought that Chevy uncharacteristically made a quick move with McGroaty (not that I didn't like that he acted that quickly). To me, looking back now, it looks like he could have been getting the ball rolling on a future deal. I thought that the day of that trade, Pittsburgh won that trade; though I no longer think that this is true but we'll see. McGroaty has been playing better as of late.
- There's absolutely no way that of the teams that have been making the playoffs the last couple of years, that Sid couldn't have been thinking to himself that the team (and situation) that he could help the most, was in Winnipeg. I don't think he cares about location as much as other players do. He wouldn't necessarily be the #2 center either, like he would be in Colorado. He's also likely to get the most credit should the Jets go on a deep run, or two, or three. He's the one with the great playoff pedigree. If he goes to Colorado, they've already won recently, and he'd the 3rd guy behind his buddy and Makar. If he goes to Las Vegas, they've already won, so who really cares (it's not really moving the needle a ton for Crosby's legacy IMO).
- There was supposedly (I need to emphasize supposedly) a meeting on November 22nd in Pittsburgh, where Crosby, Chevy, Dubas, and Logan Stanley were spotted together. My longshot guess, is that perhaps Dubas wants someone on our roster, that plays on the 2nd line, and wanted to see Stanley play every day in Winnipeg to see what he is, which might help explain to some people, why he's always playing. The deal wouldn't be centered around Stanley, but maybe Dubas thinks he's a nice throw-in with potential. One thing people don't talk about enough, is that while Stanley has been with this organization forever, he's only played 186 games. By comparison, when Chara wasn't particularly good (though better than Stanley is today) with the Islanders, he had played 231 games with the Islanders before he was a throw in, way back in the day with the Senators (where he blossomed).
- The person who initially posted this supposed meeting, is from Alberta, and doesn't seem to have much interest at all in Winnipeg, or that much interest in hockey frankly. I don't know why they'd just throw that out there. It could be absolute nonsense, sure. 99.% of the time it is, but I don't see why the person would just come up with those four names. If it was someone from Winnipeg, and an insider (who I never put any stock in), I wouldn't think anything of it.
- KFC's fight with Crosby. Though KFC initiated that fiasco, I had wondered that night if Crosby was testing him out to see if KFC is as soft as people think he is. I thought that helped out the Jets because Connor fought him.
- I think Crosby wants to wait until the last second - probably going back and forth - until he decides on Winnipeg. He always wanted it to work in Pittsburgh, and I think, had things in place (like with the Jets) that if things went South again with the team, that he could chose where he wants to play. I have a hard time thinking that Dubas, the Pittsburgh organization, would have much a problem helping him out here. He's been loyal to the team, and they don't have assets for a transition period. They have to bottom out. They've always done well bottoming out over the years. I would think that they would want to attach Letang or Karlsson to the deal, to clear up all of that money. I would imagine that the Jets would have to also throw in someone like Iafallo's expiring (and someone else) to make the numbers work.
- I guess that there was a loose deal in place going back to November. And I would also guess that Crosby floated the idea going back prior to that.
- Namestnikov signing at this point in time, makes me think Chevy's trying to put the locker room at ease, specifically for the 2nd-liner that isn't moved. That's also a good deal for the team, Names can be moved up and down the line-up, great utility, etc.
- Watching KFC's interview yesterday, I saw it differently than others did. He emphasized trusting Chevy.
- I think the move will be very unpopular with certain fans, naturally, but I never got the impression that the team wants to commit 7 or 8 years to everyone. You're also flipping for a guy who's the complete opposite in the playoffs, who's still really good, and you're getting him for 3 playoff runs. That's one hell of a soft landing for Chevy should be able to pull off such a deal
If you were Arniel would you runThis is when Arniel needs to do some good coaching.
Scheifele and Connor probably don't even know what their problem is. They likely feel like they are working hard, but just not getting the chances.
The reality is that in times like this, they tend to focus more and more on trying to force offense. Instead of a hard-won zone exits they'll look for a rush chance with one or more of them flying the zone early. I think they really think it's the right way in the moment, but don't anticipate the consequences.
Arniel needs to show them how much better they were with heavy back pressure and safer puck management that results in less D zone time and more O zone time.
They also need to watch shift length.
Where are you playing Crosby ?If you were Arniel would you run
Ehlers-Scheifele-Vilardi
Connor-Nelson-Perfetti
as your top 6, if given the opportunity?
They need to switch Ehlers and Connor for a game. The guys are too comfortable, trying to get too cute together. Change lines for a game and 1st will be as tight as rain or Ehlers will have earned a spot on top line.If you were Arniel would you run
Ehlers-Scheifele-Vilardi

You could say the same about Morrissey. Might be a hangover from such an exciting tourney and then back to the grind of the regular season? Is it just me or does KFC seem a bit off since returning from 4nations? 3RD paired with StanleyWhere are you playing Crosby ?![]()
This…it’s likely a combination of things. Expected slide, 4 nations break, TDL uncertainty, etc… Very likely they’re back up and firing on all cylinders again soon enoughI expected a bit of a slide after the 11 game winning streak. I wouldn't panic, plenty of time to get the group refocused.
I'd juat keep approaching the deadline as the team had originally intended.
If he had like 2 yrs of term I’d say do whatever to get him, but I’m not a fan of the pure rental thingWould love to get Nelson. Liked to add his size and leadership to that 2nd line.

Murat thinks the Jets have a shot at Nelson, but he would cost a lot of trade assets. He's also suggesting Ristolainen, who has been a bit of a favourite suggestion by Murat. He tends to be relatively well plugged-in, so he might not be far off.Would love to get Nelson. Liked to add his size and leadership to that 2nd line.
Nelson would be worth a lot more if the Jets could extend him, but that might be a very low probability. Maybe if they threw a whole bunch of $$$ at him? They will likely have a ton of cap space next season, but so will the Wild. This…it’s likely a combination of things. I have wondered if the Jets strategically set up their shop in Philly because they are trying to hammer out a Risto trade, and last night had the opportunity to scout Nelson.Murat thinks the Jets have a shot at Nelson, but he would cost a lot of trade assets.
