Why on earth would LA be indulging moving on from Clark ? What's the history / perceived issue there? His numbers look pretty darn good relative to age.
They've been hesitant to pay D. They let Roy walk in UFA which was surprising. They traded Durzi for a 2nd. They might see real defensive flaws in his game, to go along with his poor skating, and think his value is at it's highest right now - which is very possible.

TB and even Panthers can make these type of deals bc their top guys had proved that they can perform in the playoffs when it matters.

Our top guys had not. That’s why it is frustrating bc all these players trades so far beside Rantanen are all depth players. Seth Jones is a mid pair Dmen now until proven orherwise. And depth players don’t help you win series, at best they give you a chance not to lose the series. Top guys help teams win the series

Depth players help your top players get the proper matchups and VS physical teams like Florida its important that we have that....not to mention your bottom6 should be your main penaltykillers, Marner & Matthews will have more success if they dont have to play on the PK come playoffs.

How many time's have we lost in the playoffs because other teams depth players did just that, too many brother

I know recently Jordan Spence is supposedly getting more defensive trust but like.... why even move Clarke? They're also rumoured to be loading up a long term offer for Gavrikov.

Kings would be crazy to give BOTH of them for a pending UFA looking upwards of 12M. Byfield is signed at a very good rate for awhile.

I do think both teams make good trading partners though.
I think canes probably have to add a pick to make it fair.

If they like Doughty/Spence as 1/2RD why waste a prime asset at 3RD? They could really benefit from moving Byfield back to Kopitar's wing but they need a 2C. If Clarke can help bring in a 2C while his value is high, that's probably the best use of that asset while they have Kopitar/Doughty playing well.

Pinto for Clarke would actually make a ton of sense for both teams.

We can have the best depth players in the league, if our top guys continue their playoffs trend, we still won’t win.

Coyle + Carlo would be ideal, but don't want to even think of the cost considering it's the Bruins.
I would pay the price that TB just paid for these two players. Both have terms, young enough and affordable plus they both give something that Leafs lacked. Esp Coyle as he can be our 2C and give more flexibility for the Leafs when they choose to left JT walks if there is another 1st round exit.

Buddy, there is no guarantee Leafs win the division. They are clearly not the best team in the division. We'd be lucky to hold on.
The WC Panthers didn't have a problem disposing of the best Dubas Leafs team after battling 7 games with the President's Trophy winner, Bruins. Biggest hitters on our playoff roster are Benoit and Lorentz.
