Tampa Bay just sold the farm for the help they got. Remember, this is the team that traded 4 draft choices for Jeannot. How'd that turn out? And when Vasilesky and Kucherov age out, they will turn into Bruins 2.0. Matthews hasn't been right all year. Hold your powder, and use this off season to plug a couple of the holes we'll have. It's depressing seeing teams with smart management make shrewd adds
Our top guys have been underperforming and part of the reason why our bottom 6 sucks is bc our top guys took all the cap. That's what im trying to explain to you brother.....our top guys have been over used, if you're constantly having to focus on defense its hard to get anything done, not only has Tampa Bay & Florida's bottom6 outplayed us in the past but they used them against our top lines and wore us down....and how good was there penaltykill vs the Leafs, an area we have lacked in....because our bottom6 has never been assessed
This isn't really exposed in the season but vs a top contender in the playoffs its obvious.
Depth players are huge my friend and play a huge role in a team winning a series or the cup....you cant just look at points, there's a reason those guys we're capable of achieving that, its a full team effort thats what separates winners from losers.
Yup, the lightbulb has clicked on for him. Glad to see it, was always a fan.You need to update your take, dude has been way harder on the puck and winning plenty on the wall last couple of months. Young players evolve, so should the commentary.
Think Rantanen proves that he can be the Best Robin as long as there is a real Batman on the team.Rantanen wouldn’t dress?
He’s way more controlled now, still has the motor, but it’s with purpose instead of running around, getting knocked off his feet. And, his head is up more, looking to make a pass, instead of just plowing forward. Berube used the word “tenacious” to describe what he wants from him, and to me his game could translate well to the playoffs. He has speed, he can be a puck hound.Yup, the lightbulb has clicked on for him. Glad to see it, was always a fan.
He’s carried by siegenthaler. Look at his metrics when he doesn’t play with him.Not at all, he and Siegenthaler make up one of the top defensive pairings in the league.
You want a Rielly security blanket? That's it, big guy like 6'6, right shot defensive defenseman.
People are talking top prospect, 1st and 2nd for Parayko...this is a fraction of the cost.
One joker though, but it isn't dour marner.Think Rantanen proves that he can be the Best Robin as long as there is a real Batman on the team.
Don’t think we have any Batman on our team. We do have a whole bunch of Robins trying to fill the Batman’s role.
Must be refreshing to hear that from your GM when your trying to win..........
He's gone from taking 14/game in 22/23 (1st on Flyers) to 12/game last season (2nd on Flyers) to 6/game this season (5th on Flyers). There's no denying he used to play C, he just isn't a full time C anymore.
I wish we have a joker, as that would mean we actually have an Alpha, lol.One joker though, but it isn't dour marner.
I don't think Tampa is going to care much having won 3 Stanley cups and having a potentially 4th one this year or next.Until the team sucks for a decade. This catches up to you.
What a novel concept: allowing a young player to learn and mature, and not expect a finished product that gets sent away for nothing before he’s had 100 NHL games. He’s way more controlled now, still has the motor, but it’s with purpose instead of running around, getting knocked off his feet. And, his head is up more, looking to make a pass, instead of just plowing forward. Or a new president is coming in and tre has orders not to mortgage the future on scrapsIt's depressing seeing teams with smart management make shrewd adds
He also has a nose for the net, even one goal late in a series is unbelievably valuableHe’s way more controlled now, still has the motor, but it’s with purpose instead of running around, getting knocked off his feet. They won two Cups in the last 5 yrs, I don’t think they care about the future.I don't think Tampa is going to care much having won 3 Stanley cups and having a potentially 4th one this year or next.
Are you telling me you wouldn't trade 10 years of bad teams for even one Stanley cup?
Agreed. Just win one cup and nobody will give a shit for a decade, we will always have that moment. They won two Cups in the last 5 yrs, I don’t think they care about the future.
If Leafs have their playoffs success the past 5 yrs with 2 Cups. I don’t think any of us would care if we trade away our 1sts, Cowan, Minten and Danford for rentals
Exactly. And I think that’s the key as to why Tre seems to be only making depth moves bc the core 5 just had not shown that they are close...

And also because of that, they have confidence in their core.
Leafs have no such evidence to create similar confidence.
Could explain some hesitance on Tre's part (if hesitance in fact exists).
