Depending on what the conditions are, potentially two 1st round picks isn't a bad haul. Grier was placed in a pretty tough position with DW severely mismanaging this team.

I'm not a fan of all the other irrelevant pieces to the picks though.

Yea.. no that’s a garbage return for a 26 year old stud top line RW
Look at comparable returns. 2 first round picks, a top four D prospect who’s coming over soon and a couple of good young players who are NHL ready. A lot of devils fans including myself would’ve rathered lose Holtz than Zetterlund and Okhotiuk.

Love how they both play. Zetterlund’s already a solid middle 6 forward and could turn into a good top 6 one for a long time for you guys.

A lot of devils fans have been trying to say this but you don’t get premium assets such as Nemec or Mercer go in deals like this where a teams back is against the wall. Just doesn’t happen.

2 1sts, two interesting D prospects that can actually be pretty good (especially Mukh) and a good complementary player in Zetterlund is not a bad return… I’m kind of happy with it, though wish we got more of a blue chip prospect.

This is a bad trade and Grier lost for sure, but assuming the '24 pick conditions aren't BS, that's far better than getting Holtz. Can flip it or just risk it. It actually is better than what I was expecting though.

It will be interesting to see the conditions on the 2024 first, but it tells me that the Devils really like their prospect pool and hence would rather trade a pick than a prospect...and fair enough!
