I would say that Bernier has a better chance than Reimer to be mentioned amongst those names, and would cite that being played limited minutes, behind one of the best goalies in the league in Quick, is a huge reason as to why he hasn't perhaps progressed as much as he could have at this point.

Just my two cents though - obviously and naturally I hope I'm wrong about Reimer; I'm just not sold on him, and think that Bernier will, in the next few years, be the better of the two.

Time will tell, but that's what's great about being a hockey fan.

I'm willing to bet that you haven't seen Bernier play more than 3 NHL games and are basing your opinions on his draft position and a grass is always greener viewpoint.

Here was the article that was posted here:

Reimer visited with a specialist in Montreal over the weekend and learned that his injury troubles are linked to a neck issue rather than a concussion.

"It was actually outstanding news for me," he said. "I have absolutely no qualms going forward for next year or for the rest of my career. It kind of almost wiped the slate clean."

Stiff neck causes a terrible glove hand or what?

Oh but wait, I was told by quite a number of Leafs fans here quite recently (were you one of them?) that Reimer was in fact, NOT CONCUSSED, and that his mother is not a medical professional.

It's quite obvious jus injury was worse than what the Leafs originally thought.

Well according to a specialist in Montreal that Reimer later saw, it was NOT a concussion and actually a neck injury.

So I ask you, what about a stiff neck causes him to give up softies consistently for a whole season?

Why was he never the same after the injury? Ryan Miller never looked the same after his head injury last season either? And btw, Leaf Drs did think it was a concussion.

And why don't you tell us why Bernier has been better than Reimer?

Back on topic,Bernier is too small to be an effective goalie IMO. Toskala 2.0

A concussion specialist in Montreal said it wasn't. Plain and simple.

Ryan Miller has nothing to do with Reimer.

What happened to Eric Lindros has nothing to do with how Jake Gardiner is going to do going forward.

Bernier

for

Leafs 2013 1st rounder
Leafs 2014 1st rounder
Leafs 2013 2nd rounder

fine Reimer was healthy and is a fluke.

Why has Bernier been better BTw?

Nothing about him has been consistent at all.

Don't know about that. He rode the bench fairly consistently.

This may not be a bad move for the Leafs to get a Reimer/Bermier going. Both challenging each other to get the starts. It all depends on the cost, though. I feel the Kings asking price will be way too high.

lol @ the people arguing Bernier is an upgrade over Reimer. What evidence do you have besides his higher draft position? How much have you watched him play? What are his strengths and weaknesses? What Moneyball-esque calculations have you done with his numbers that demonstrate that he's a superior goaltender?

Just be honest, you want to see someone new in goal. I can understand that. But don't pretend that you're being rational about it.

If Quick is injured,

1. Who do you think is better to backstop LA to another championship: Bernier or Reimer?
2. Do you think LA can win another championship with Bernier/Reimer?
3. Can Luongo backstop LA to another championship?

Based on your answers who would you rather have playing for the Leafs?

Im pretty sure people base it on potential....

Why do we ever draft players? We should trade our picks for proven players in the NHL. the Draft is a crap shoot. Theyve played 0 nhl games. Theyre unproven. Let's get proven commodities.
