Oh how cute. Watch then some games where is good reffing. No whining at all from the Finns. So strange. And nice try changing the subject.

Refs often make mistakes, even in the glorious NHL. On the long run, these things tend to even out. No need to get extremely worked up because of some bad calls (not directing this to you but to the general Finnish hockey viewer and media).

I guess the Czechs deserved to win; more scoring chances & shots on goal. And the refs did not spoil Finland's chances in the 3rd period, when it was 3-3. However, Canada will in all likelihood beat CZE convincingly in the SF.

43-year old Jagr is much better than 27-year old Crosby, though :naughty:

Jagr is enormous :handclap:

Insulting comments? I was just pointing out I don't like where the sport is going. Faking injuries is disgraceful. We don't need it in hockey. Peace and out!

You just act like a criyng barbie trying to satisfy herself with some Skoda cups or fake injuries or whatever you talking about.....But its definetely your way.

That "Momentum" happens to be his stick in defenseman's face :sarcasm:

Any Finnish fan saying this should be legal in hockey is just biased.
Saying that should be legal is utterly ridiculous. It's blatant interference and there's no way that goal should stand, regardless of which teams or players are involved.

...

As a neutral fan, I though it was the best game of the championship so far, and watching Jagr be this good at 43 is just amazing.

Another topic. From another web sources.

Czechs are only one nation who like 68 more than 69.

If Jagr were more productive we could have Jagr - Jagr line already.

Good ones:D

He's right though. You seem to take it too seriously for just Skoda cup.
Didn't want to make own thread about it and decided just post it in the GDT. Tender subject. But other European countries do it too, not just as much, all ain't saints. I don't like that in hockey. More work should be done to get that mentality out.

Is the whining normal?

I only have two Finnish friends and have only been once to Helsinki on business, so I don't know the country and its mentality at all. Is all the whining and whinging normal? Is that something you can expect from most Finnish fans when they don't like some calls made by referees? Goodness me, how irritating.

In terms of the actual calls, I think not giving the Finnish 'goal' is justifiable, but even if it wasn't - let's say, the refs made a mistake and the goal should have been given - are you not getting bored of banging on about it? We get it, you think the refs screwed up or were deliberately conspiring against Finland. We get the message, we understand your position. It won't get any clearer by repeating it endlessly.

Great game by Jagr last night, and I am very pleased that the amazing fans of the Czech team get to cheer for another two games. Unfortunately the second game will be for third place, I don't see how anyone will come close to beating Canada. You never know, but it is very unlikely.

It wasn't just about that one post but fair enough, it's your opinion.

Good luck to you and your team in next years.

Shame that a team with better offensive individuals, game plan and more chances created won. Defensive five men trap, poor goaltending and non-effective offensive game structure should lead into victory.

It's a strange phenomenon which has started in these in recent years tournaments (rise of social media?) to see fellow Finns who usually find honesty and integrity so important to drop it all for excuses in times of defeat. Which will happen soon again with similar approach shown by the team... but whatever works for anyone - I'd like to see stronger Finnish team out there rather than demands for 'better referees'.

You hit the nail on the head, the importance of honesty and integrity is a big part of the reason why finns react strongly against bad calls. This year the reaction is stronger than ever because last year's travesty of uncalled jawbreaking crosschecks to the head is still sore in our minds.

Czechs did outplay Finland and it's good for the tournament that they won, but that shouldn't mean that we must pretend the reffing is fine. That way it will never get better. We need NHL-refs in the tournament, they do a much better job at the olympics than IIHF selected clowns ever have.

Well I agree when we talk about mistakes done by refs. But this mistakes harm both teams.
It is also not fair to accuse some national teams in diving and faking.

Sure, wave off the goal, but giving a penalty on the situation? Absurd.

Waving the goal off without giving a penalty is literally impossible on that play. You could only do that in case of incidental contact with the goalie. This was not goalie interference, however, so you either call the penalty or you don't (and allow the goal).

The right call was made, imo.

Well, I think memory is selective - and short: now only for two years running there have been at times rather over the top complaints, but I do fully believe that other nationalities wouldn't have been much better. In general you don't get noticeably much more whining from the Finnish fans.

Anyway, I fully believe that there were some really bad calls (though that Kontiola penalty is borderline in an IIHF tournament), but for me the important thing is that the Czechs were clearly better yesterday, they created many more chances and dominated the 5-5 game. That was quite surprising: we just weren't ready and it was the Czechs that were supposed to be jittery...
