Finland scored the leading goal 3-2, they disallowed it and gave Finland a penalty instead. Czech scored on that powerplay, so instead of 3-2 Finland (like it should have been) it was 2-3 Czech.

A complete game changer.

Stop acting as sore loosers a$$. You made a bad play, and paid for it.

I for one thought from the first period that this is the game of the tournament and I think it still. Rinne was amazing, Pavelec sucked as always, Jagr rules. Reffs made serious mistakes on both sides, yet while we score on one of those mistakes, you did not - so you gonna say "reffs". K, say it more - only shows how ignorant you are.

Moment of the game for me was Jagrs first goal - worlds (perhaps) best goalkeeper vs worlds best playing veteran - Jagr won due experiences.

Again - game of the tournament for me - I doubt any other game can be better. First period = best hockey Ive seen this year (NHL included).

Bad game for Rinne. And yes, reffing was bad. How can you say that Rinne was amazing?

Second power play goal for Czechs was deserved as there was clearly a foul play on the play leading to discarded goal and it was the right decision by referees.

What in the actual **** are you talking about?

Kontiola drove to the net with the puck, the defenseman stood infront of him to stop him but he was lighter so he fell down. Hietanen comes and takes the loose puck and scores.

Kontiola simply was stronger (or had more momentum) running into the Czech player trying to stop him from getting to the net. There was absolutely NOTHING Kontiola did wrong in that situation except having more momentum and winning a physical battle against a stationary czech defenseman. Knocking someone down when you go face to face is not a penalty in hockey. And definitely not grounds to disallow a goal and give a penalty.

What exactly did Kontiola do wrong? He drove to the net, into the defenseman who was there to stop him, and the guy trying to stop him fell. Heavier, stronger guy prevailed in a face to face battle, mostly due to the fact that he had speed and the other guy was standing.

What on earth did Kontiola do that was against the rules? Not a god damn thing.

And yeah, it's a huge +2 goal difference in a one goal game.

You are wrong, the game of the torunament was SlO-USA or SWE-RUS...we are happy for you though, it was about time since last time..who was it? Lang and Hasek? ... best of luck against Canada..you will need it ;)

no way, the first period was the worst from fin... look fin-rue game, totally different pace...

Well, the reffing had those black moments, but in all honesty the Czechs outplayed us also on 5-5, they were clearly the stronger team today. I'm actually rather surprised how slow and unready we looked especially in the first period. Usually we play really solid hockey in the death match of the tournament, but this time we were shaky and hesitant.

There was absolutely nothing wrong with Finlands 3-2 goal.

Not a damn thing.

If you see something in that, that is against the rules of hockey, go ahead and cite the rulebook.

I tought that the puck was already behind kontiola when he started to pusht the defender backwards with his arms up.. Anyway entertaining game and teh better team won. gongratz to checzs and that unbeliavable skilled mule Jagr:handclap:

"On both sides" :D Disallowing our goal and not getting a penalty from the slash on your powerplay totally changed the game, stop being an ignorant *******. Still, wish everything good for Jagr, all other Czechs were diving *******.

Getting sick with that whining from some of you fellow fins. We lost to a better team. the refs weren't perfect, but they almost never are, even at nhl. We lost, suck it up, be a men, and move forward.

And?

Kontiola was skating to the net, the defenseman was there to stop him. Kontiola had to take the hit from running into the defenseman and he could not control the puck while doing so. He was still the puck carrying forward. There is no way in hell that is an interference, that is defenseman trying to stop the forward from driving to the net with the puck. Kontiola did not interfere with this defensemans ability to stop the attack, this defenseman stopped Kontiola on his scoring chance.

There was never any way for that defenseman to stop that goal because it was scored by the guy who came in and scooped in the loose puck. It was a simple situation where a defenseman stops the puck carrier and fell down in the process. They were in a 1 on 1 battle against eachother, Kontiola lost the puck and Czech defenseman lost his balance.

Absolutely nothing wrong with that goal. But the end result was +2 goals for Czechs. Probably the last time I bother with IIHF WHC. Last years final and now this. At least they suspended the blind idiots who gave Komarov a 5+20 last game, but they still have not shown much progress in the quality of refereeing. There are plenty of NHL refs not used in the playoffs. Those guys should be utilized, they are professionals. If they made mistakes like this one, at least they would be accountable.

100% true, but don't get it why they the refs just want to take such a big role... that is the only thing which is wrong, not saying better didn't win, but iihf is really messing this fair competition, and in the long the run this a huge strategical mistake which will cost them big... just talking about the big picture and this is the wrong direction... nobody was saying was saying anything but the refs..

Sure and tripping on one of our guys running solo on Rinne and hacking the other one running solo was what? OK?

Even NHL staff said disallowing goal and calling a penalty was ok. Get over it. Youre acting like kid. Refs made enough mistakes in the rest of the game - this one was a right call.

Shushh... we were kind enough not to select Ruutu this time (the one) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nAZIMkNMTCw

yeah where did they say so... cause everything i've heard has been pure disbelief?

But yeah. Even if all that reffing were against Finland, it doesn't matter anymore. Reffing in IIFH sucks.

I hope Cze puts good fight against Canada, although I hope Canada wins. And if Czechs win, then they should win gold, which wouldn't be that bad. Although Pavelec winning gold would be weird.

I think we should just boycot the next WCs, I'm personally inclined to do that myself. I mean nothing against the Czech team, they played well enougn and maybe they would've won anyway. But this bs is getting out of hand, last year's final and now this. We are simply not good enough team to beat the opponent and the refs, Canada might be though, and I don't see no point in participating under this setup. And yes, I do realize refs are human, and people make mistakes which is part of the game, but making mistakes in one direction only is a different thing.

We did once

But yeah. 3rd time with this same crap.

and to all the "better team won" people...yeah not so much this time. We did not get to find out who the better team was. It COULD have been the Czechs, but they did not need to prove it today.

There is a massive difference between trailing 2-3 or leading 3-2 and today, that difference was one awful refereeing mistake. That did not allow us to see who was really the better team today.

I agree that there in a best of 7 series the best team always wins. In a one game qualifier, it's not as simple anymore. Especially if the other team gets a +2 goal advantage. It simply doesn't tell you which one was better anymore at that point.

We lost clearly to a better team in the opening game, USA beat Finland fair and square. Todays ****show was NOT that.

Well, couple of posts ago, you asked about some rules. This is what IIHF officiating standard says:

Is there something more you want to say about that "goal"?

Kontiola did not interfere with this defensemans ability to stop the attack, this defenseman stopped Kontiola on his scoring chance.

Please. Kontiola cross-checked the defenseman to the jaw area, which made him lose his balance. There was no need for Kontiola to shove him like that.

100% with you. It just needed one psycho dad to say that. Clearly those czech's comments like "stop whining" shows how they're even blind or they don't care. Those mistakes by refs may have change the winner of the game, played a huge part in there no question. That sucks.

And it's just not the finns whining. Swedes and canadians watched the game too. They reported it in their sport news too.

I don't think they have much chance with either goalie, but Salak played at least as poorly as Pavs in this tournament, so not sure it is time to put him in spotlight again.
When either goalie is playing, it makes one think "they should put in other goalie."

True. But Salak is even worse! Strong to be in the semis with such bad goaltending though. We should have had Mrazek! Then it would be a small smell of gold.

Yes, the refs really favoured Finland. But still not enough.
No, they didn´t report anything like that in Swedish media. Not a Word. Just the opposite. Everybody was glad that the most offensive team won.

Yes they did. I personally do have eyes. And that's so funny of you, "Favoured Finland", i guess your parents are happy for you.
